A subreddit originally created to break into my friends vault
Welcome to /r/WhatsInThisThing!
This subreddit was ORIGINALLY created to track the progress of breaking into this vault on r/pics, and it got off to a MASSIVE start!
ABOUT:
This subreddit is a place for anyone who has acquired a safe, piggy bank, briefcase, treasure chest, oak barrel, thumb drive, bottle, locker, storage unit, abandoned home, bomb shelter, antique can, maybe even a confidential file to post pictures of the adventure of finding out what's inside it. If you come across a safe or mystery box, it can be dangerous to open it. Make sure you know what you're doing.
SUBREDDIT JARGON:
Mystery Box - Any item that is a safe, piggy bank, briefcase, treasure chest, oak barrel, thumb drive, bottle, locker, storage unit, abandoned home, bomb shelter, antique can, a confidential file, or anything of that sort
Locked - Anything that has not been unlocked yet; anything we don't know the contents of.
Unlocked - A solved mystery; OP delivers and we find out what was inside!
RULES:
You must post a picture of your mystery box.
No reaction gifs, memes, image macros, joke posts, or anything else like that. If you find any of these, please hit the report button and a mod will get around to removing it. You can post those in /r/ShittyWITT.

It's a makeshift landfill. Lots of trash and a Town and Country van still stuck in the ground.
Not locked (well it probably is) but buried.
I just want to pay some homage to a guy who went thru a lot.
Actually, it plopped right open with a pry bar, but we still threw it off the roof for fun!
Yes it had a FREE sign on it lol. With other items. Came with original manual with the combo. I bought a 9v battery and it fired up just fine, enter in the combo and you see green light illuminate and hear a clink inside the safe like it’s unlocked. But handle doesn’t do anything. I’m thinking between me dropping it or maybe the previous owners… it’s stuck shut. So I guess my curiousity is going to force me to pay for a locksmith to come out. Does anyone have an idea on price I would be paying? I have a very strong angle grinder I’m thinking about just cutting a big ass square in it…. Recommendations?
I've been following this for years and years, I just find that unlike a lot of other subreddits dedicated to finding an answer to a question, why is this the only one that the OP never responds again and just leaves us heartbroken, are they just trolling us?
(Phone number is dead)
We bought an old farm house and discovered a safe built into the wall in our creepy basement, just know it's quite old. Our general contractor tried opening the safe using some grinding tools etc but didn't succeed and apparently now it's left in a bad shape. We are wondering if there is anyone around Mankato or surrounding areas who'd be able to unlock/open this safe for us.
Please respond only if you can help. Serious inquiries only.
P.S: Yes, we own the house and can share pics with the right/qualified people.
Thanks.
Help. Found this safe in my house and it’s clearly in poor shape. The locking mechanism is completely frozen and everything is pretty rusted. What are my options here?
Friend moved into a place. Apparently the safe hasn’t been opened in 30 years.
I damaged my grandfather's old Saga SAF-D-POSIT model 1180 safe he had in an old storage locker thinking it was empty. I'm hoping to find a replacement that looks very similar since it has sentimental value to my father. It doesn't have to be the same model as long as it looks similar. Does anyone have one they would like to get rid of? Will pay a fair price and pay for all shipping costs.
