    Alternatives to Mazda CX-70?

I am considering getting a top trim CX-70 ($55-60k) to replace my CX-5. I love to CX-5 but need a little more rear passenger room and the engine/interior are compelling to me.

That said, I’m also looking at top trim Volvo XC60, which doesn’t have the size controversy but does have less features. Still, reliability and interior are better here.

What else should I be considering? No X5–I am not a BMW/MB/Porsche person. The Mazda/Volvo feel under the radar and I like that.

    Thanks!

Helping with the first car in US

Hi all, moving from EU to USA, never had a car and almost know nothing about them. I was comparing cars (and prices) in Europe and the US, and found out that for 3-4k$ there's too different options. So, I don't understand, what car I supposed to buy as my first in US for that 3-4k$, so I need ur help, guys. As I understood, you really can buy even 2002-2005 Lexus for that money, but still I need an advice. Thanks in advance.

P.S. I'm not really a fan of sport car's, at least on the public roads, but I'm in love with coupes, but not powerful, looking more for comfy and nice interior.

Hi y’all. I plan on getting a truck in a year or two but I’d like your opinions.

First, I don’t want a “full size” truck. Mostly because I don’t need a fuller one one but also because I’m a weirdo.

I also prefer them a bit older because I don’t like having an iPad type dash/head unit.

I know that reliability and ease of working on/repair are subjective but I’d like those to be factors too.

About a decade ago I had an 03 Tacoma TRD OffRoad that I really liked until I had frame issues and got fucked on the recall (long story). If I could find a 1st Gen in great shape I’d look at getting one, a 2nd gen wouldn’t be bad but I hate the look and size of the new ones.

The dodge dakota is about the top end in terms of size for me I think but I’ve heard they can be really hit or miss.

I don’t know much about the Nissan Fontier but the older ones seem to be in the size class I’m looking for.

The ford rangers are a good size but as far as capability goes they seem the least capable of the smaller pickups in terms of payload and towing (like not any more capable than my current Subaru).

I’d like a 4 wheel drive and ideally an extended cab (I’d go with a quad cab but they always shorten the bed too much) with a 6’(ish) bed.

    • as for engine I’d LOVE a small diesel but for gas I’d prefer a v6 over an I4.

    What are your thoughts?

    Long distance sporty car

Hi i am looking for a new car. I love japanese cars like celica corolla ts civics accords lexus is and similiar to them, but I am college student and need to do approx. 700 km a month (thats minimum probably doing more) so it would be great if car had low fuel usage and was low cost maintenance. What would you recommend for me? Yearly i do something about 15 000 km or even more. My mechanic told me to look for some diesel cars but I dont think they appeal to me (mianly he was reffering to some golfs 1.9 tdi or something like that)

    First time Car Buyer Questions

    Hey guys.

I'm looking to purchase my first car for birthday next month. I've been using a passed down 2005 Honda Pilot for the last 10ish years (before that I had a 96 Subaru) of my life and naturally its started to slowly fall apart. I've been trying to do as much research as possible, but I really am looking for a more guided and practical approach. I live in MA.

I guess my main questions are:

    1. I rather not make monthly payments and have a budget of maybe 15k. Is it practical to find a nice looking and reliable 2020+ car with that?

    2. This is my first car I am choosing and buying. I don't need much, but I would like for it to look nice/maybe a little sporty. Any suggestions?

    3. Where is the best places to look? I've heard horror stories about Facebook marketplace, but I've heard horror stories about local dealers as well.

    4. 2024 vs older/new vs used. I hear all the time that used and older is the way to go but in general, how much more impressive are the newer cars than the used/older ones? In what scenarios are they worth it?

    5. Whatever extra tips I may not be thinking of.

Looking to buy a 60k sports car at 24, need advice.

Hello, like the title says I'm looking to buy myself my first sports car. I believe I am in a good spot financially and don't want to wait until I'm in my 30's or 40's. Just looking for advice as to if I should go through with it or not.

The most likely options are either a 2008 cayman S or a Z4M from a similar year. Both cars are around the same price (60k aud for a neat example). The reason I have these cars in mind is because I believe they are near or have hit max depreciation so I won't lose much. If anything I could see them appreciate during my ownership. Im leading more towards the Z4 as maintainence will be cheaper, less can go wrong, and I already have experience dealing with similar engines.

I'm currently 22 and daily drive a 2001 E39 530i I got for 9k, insurance and registration cost me 1.6k a year. I'd buy the sports car when I get off my provisional license in early 2027. I feel like my finances are sorted well, I make 70k/year after tax which will only increase as I gain more experience in my industry. I'm able to save and invest roughly 70% of that as I live at home with my parents and they pay the bills so my expenses are minimal. I'm not planning on moving out until I get married as my parents get offended at me even suggesting doing so or helping with the bills, plus I don't see any benefit in moving out.

I have 50k invested in shares and 10k in a savings account, my shares have averaged ~9% pa since I started investing 2 years ago. Not sure yet if I'd buy the car with cash or leverage it by financing. I have an excellent credit score so I could potentially finance it for under 5% but I don't really want the debt. I understand that if I put the money in shares I'll he able to buy a better car in 10 or 20 years but like I said I don't want to wait that long. I have faith in myself that I'll be able to offset any long term impact buying this car will have by increasing my income.

Based on my position should I buy the car? Or just keep my daily until for a little while longer and hold off on the sports car.

    Did I find a unicorn?

    Carfax link

2006 Rav4 V6, already had water pump and oil coolant line taken care of. First owner was on top of maintenance. Second owner looks like either started doing their own maintenance or took it to a shop that didn't report. Or, in an absolute bummer, they just didn't maintain.

I'm going to try and look at it today, see what I can see. 123k, asking $7k. Might be able to talk them down as it's been there 4 months. Definitely will be listening for the VTTi rattle, but even if it has it, getting it fixed will still bring the price of the car to less than what others are asking.

    $20,000 Budget for Pre-Owned Car.

Ive been super interested in the Subaru BRZ and WRX, (I LIKE AUTOMATICS SUE ME). Before those 2 cars i was obsessed with mustangs (2014) model. For a nice car like any of these within 20,000 what can and should i get? i like the boxy cars like the mustang and the WRX, but i hear the wrx cant really go past 400hp. And everybody has a mustang. The BRX i hear is really meant for tracks and dosent push power and shouldent. I love the brz model and how it can be modded, but if im capped to just track racing im not too thrilled. The mustang can obviously be made into a beast, but the 5.0 is usually out of my budget for a low miles car. Low miles as in (below 80K) And then the WRX i love but imma get flamed for having an automatic. So im stuck in this what car situation. Im open to other options hence why im posting. (Automatic Options Please I can drive manual just no wanna).

New low-end cars with no satellite radio available

I'm an old fart (hence what is probably a dumb question) who always listens to SiriusXM. I'm used to tabbing on the steering wheel to change channels or touching the radio screen to switch to a different set of presets.

New low-end cars don't include this feature. Example: CX-5 models 1-4 out of 8 do not. MSRP difference between #1 and #5 is over $6,500. Do people just use their phones and Siri or its Android equivalent to listen? Is that a big adjustment for people who don't use Siri, Alexa, etc. for anything (yet)? TIA

    Need some advice

Hi I’m a 17 year old kid and just got my Ps and am looking at buying a car. I’ve currently got a MG 3 with 41,000 Ks on it and while I’ve got no issues with it I’ve heard a lot of stories of how unreliable they can be, and rather unsafe. I was thinking about selling it and buying a second hand car that I might like more. I’m looking for something reliable and somewhat fuel efficient. I had my eye on a BMW e90 but I’m too sure. I think the MG3 could sell for anywhere between $10,000-$15,000 so that’s my budget. I hope I’m using this subreddit right. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏😁

    I’m in Australia btw

How many miles is too many for used Ford Fusion hybrid?

I’m looking for a car for college, preferably recent, but all the “reliable” brand cars (Honda, Toyota, Mazda) in my area are very expensive. I found a 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid with about 95,000 miles for 11k, and while this seems like a good deal to me, is it too many miles for a 2019 Ford? I’m hoping to get another 100k miles or so out of the car, if the maintenance records look alright does this seem like a solid purchase? Any advice is greatly appreciated

2025 Toyota sienna AWD, 2025 Kia Carnival SX prestige 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy.

    Good morning everyone,

As we all know car buying can be a fun and or a overwhelming experience. I'm honestly looking just for pros or cons, and for unbiased hands on information besides from the hundreds of YouTube videos I've watched.

Little background, it's me and the Mrs. And our 15 month old twins who are in rear facing seats. We have a big Bob's double stroller. This will be 95% of our hauling besides the shopping and the occasional family coming to visit so the 3rd row will be down most of the time.

So I narrowed down to these 3 vehicles after much research and these 3 are the only 3 that'll be in the category of what we need.

We are in the South AWD would be nice but not a must. We need the minimum of 40" of leg room for 2nd row to fit our car seats.

    So worries about each vehicle:

Santa Fe: transmission issues that they been having (software update fixes it supposedly) but the good warranty. Not enough storage in the back with 3rd row down. The firm seats for long trips. The smaller engine with the turbo causing wear. Like that it's AWD.

Carnival: not much worries with it, just not enough power to move the bigger vehicle with also the turbo causing wear, but still the good warranty. Last is only FWD.

Sienna: like that it's non turbo, and has AWD. But the warranty is my worry it's no where near as good as the other 2 but you get the good Toyota name. Nowher near as many features as the other 2. Lastly the ecvt transmission, I am not sold on that. Seen many issues with cvt transmissions, and that worries me.

But just looking for any opinons/insight or anything I possibly missed that I should have looked into. Thank you all in advance for replying.

Affordable Mid-life crisis: BRZ vs WRX

For 13 years I drove a reliable manual Yaris. Then last week a lady having a panic attack blessed me by nuking her car into mine at an intersection writing off both.

I've always wanted a BRZ since it came out however being blessed with a reliable well maintained paid off car I never was able to fully justify getting a new car until new.

The only thing is I am 40 and I have...mom-bodied ladies in my life.

For those who may be in this situation is there a reality wherein I can have a BRZ in my life or will the seats and low height be realistically a pain in everyone else's ass?

Is my realistic other option a previous years standard WRX?

(note I will be going to dealerships and test driving both with a previously stated mother figure attending as well, but I would love to hear what to expect)

Used 2020 BMW X1 is good to go?

    Greetings folks,

I have a 2018 Mini Cooper 2 door, it is fine but It became too small for us. We are thinking to buy a SUV (just a bigger, higher) car.

Previously I've owned a BMW 1 series 2014 which I like a lot so I'm keen on BMW.

I live in EU, my budget is around € 25k.

We have also checking out used Audi Q3 and used Lync & Co 01 (which is quite newer of course).

More specifically I look on 2020-2019 BMW X1 XDrive 25i PHEV or XDrive 25e around 80-100k KM. I don't prefer only front wheel drive models like 18i or so.

Hence my question is that it is good to buy, or not wise selection due to high very high maintenance costs, problems etc than my current mini.

2000-present used sport or luxury sports cars

I am looking to purchase a second car for the first time in my life. I have managed to save up 10k. I am looking for something manual but I will consider auto. I want something pretty quick and something to be proud of that's fun to drive. But I also don't wanna break the bank with bad motors or transmissions. I have looked into c5 corvettes and G37's along with a Genesis couple. I'm trying to stay under 150k. I love the sound of a V8 but honestly I want more quick and reliability. Any suggestions I would appreciate it!.

Dealership buying car back. What should be next car?

I’m a 21 year old male had a tuned q50 making 62k yearly with car payments of 412 a month and insurance of 285 a month. I could afford the car comfortably. Unfortunately the car i have for a year is getting bought back from dealership due to it being no title so it was illegally sold to me without my knowledge. I had mixed emotions with my ownership of the q50 but overall it was a fun car but not looking to get other q50. What cars would you recommend? Not looking to break the bank. Either want just a simple cash car that I can use to help save for a different car or a flashy sports car maxing out at 25k. I live in Orlando so it’s kinda of necessary to have a mode of transportation to get around.

Entry to mid level luxury car

My 2016 Acura TLX was totaled so I’m looking for something comparable and modern. I’ve been looking at more recent TLXs and Integras. I’ve also been looking at Mercedes A Class. I’m in the $25K - $30K range, though cheaper is preferred. Any other brands and models I should pay attention to?

    09 GTI. Good idea?

Unfortunately my daily driver, a 1998 3000GT has become too much of a hassle. Decided to sell and looking for a daily. Somewhere between 6-9k. Looked into Mk.5 GTI’s, they seem pretty solid but I’m not sure. Any recommendations for something that is quick, 4 seats (doesn’t need to be a sedan), decent gas mileage, standard reliability(I’m very used to keeping up with my cars so heavy maintenance isn’t a burden)

Looking to upgrade from my 22 Corolla hatchback

    Hi all,

As per the title I'm on the lookout for something to upgrade from my Icon trim Corolla. I'm based in the UK and can spend up to £25k.

I enjoy the smooth drive, hybrid engine and the CVT, but would prefer something with more luxurious features and space.

I am open to hatchbacks, saloons and coupes only, no estates.

Used is fine if reliability is assured.

Possibility of an android auto upgrade if not stock is pretty important. Low running/maintenance costs and insurance would also be good.

    I have considered the following:

    Lexus ES

    Mazda6

    Volvo S60

I have test driven a 420i gran coupe, but didn't enjoy the harsher drive feel.

    Thank you.

New/newish car or older used car at 21 in a new state

I'm 21 and I've recently moved to California to start a new job, and I need a new car because living in San Jose without one is terrible. I currently have a budget of ~15k cash, and make a solid amount yearly. I'm trying to decide between purchase an older, reliable car for cash outright or purchase a newer, around 2019-2022 car, and finance a few thousand. I'm looking mainly at Toyota Corollas/Camrys, and Honda Civics/Hondas since they have good mpg and are quite reliable. My original goal was to get a reliable cheaper car then upgrade in a few years, but I've since realized that purchasing something newer would make a fair amount of sense long term. Any advice? And if your recommendation is an older car, then what year/model?
