If my memory serves me correctly, going into halftime we had an offensive lineman go down to injury.
I'd be lying if I said I knew enough about offensive line play to understand the importance of this individual player.
Does anyone know if he came back into the game? Also can anyone speak to how he performs in run blocking? I guess I'm just grasping at straws trying to explain the Hunter usage and the only thing that I can come up with is that losing that olineman made us feel like our run blocking was significantly weaker.
Does anyone remember looking at this? I'd like to know some opinions.
At this point why do you even continue to play Payton? I know, he was just one of many issues today - most of which were on the coaching staff. Regardless, nothing is gained continuing to roll with him.
Our season is over, we aren’t burning any redshirts at this point with only three games left (for those who haven’t played yet). Why not let walker get a shot? Fine with Hank too but I don’t see what you have to lose. 4-8 and maybe even 3-9 are our two outcomes the remainder of the season.
Honestly that applies to all the freshmen/sophomores. I don’t care to watch Asante in man coverage getting burned for a touchdown or keionte giving me a heart attack every time he fields a punt. If that’s gonna happen I’d rather it be a young player.
I don’t think anyone is putting enough emphasis on this. You cannot win games without a kicker.
The longest field goal Auburn has kicked this year is 32 yards. If a football team has to get the ball inside the 20 to get points, they are not going to win games. If the offense goes on a good drive and faces 3rd down at the 30, they have to be way too aggressive because they know a 47 yard field goal is out of the question. Even though the misses have only officially lost a couple of games, not having a kicker completely cripples playcalling in opposing territory.
Hugh Freeze has his obvious downfalls and I think a better QB fixes a lot of the issues. I also think with an average SEC kicker, this year is a lot more tolerable.
The only way Hugh Freeze is gone is if John Cohen is also gone. Cohen sold our soul to hire his old crooked cheating buddy, and there is no reason anyone should expect him to change now.
Payton Thorne can’t read at a 2nd grade level and can’t throw to a wide open receiver. As much as I hate the cop out of, “the play worked” from Freeze, the Vandy defense basically lined up and dared Thorne to hit receivers. Spoiler alert: he can’t. Our only TD today was an awful pass. Thorne might be able to “see the play in the film room” but he can’t hit the WR when it matters.
Career long 32, misses from 40 then you put him out there with the game over if he missesfrom 52. Then you call a timeout with 2:01 left literally just wait til the 2 minute warning does his stupid ass not know it’s in college now? It was fourth down the 2 minute is going to stop the clock and they have to punt, you gave up a timeout for 1 second? This guy is fucking garbage, doesn’t matter the recruits he gets bc he can’t win any games I can’t put up with his coaching. he is a detriment to our players who fight so hard to win. This guy is piss poor get his ass out right now.
Of all the shitty game management moves we have made this year this is the most embarrassing.
That is all.
Why the hell is the best player on the field only getting the ball 12 times???? Hugh needs to let someone else call plays
First Auburn coach to ever lose against Vanderbilt in Auburn. Auburn was previously 9-0 against Vanderbilt in Auburn. Truly a coach for the history books
Stop asking me for money! I am not sending you a dime unless you let me be in a room with Hugh Freeze and yell at him for 5 minutes.
Do that, and we can talk
Holy fuck just the worst college experience i fucking hate this team and I'm done believing in hugh freeze this shit is horrible its fucking horrible worst season of my life I honestly hope Payton Thorne is cursed the rest of his life fuck this the QB he is the biggest loser if ever seen wearing a Auburn Jersey
If he is going to have success at Auburn, he needs to stick to recruiting and stay out of game day coaching
Look at the difference between Durkin and Freeze

Freeze needs to replace Thorne in my side. For the love of God - replace this kid. He will lose this Vandy game for us.

Auburn leads the all-time series 22-21-1, winning 15 of the last 17 meetings. The only two recent Vanderbilt wins happened in 2008 and 2012, both in Nashville and both against two of the worst Tigers’ teams in the history of the program.
Auburn leads 9-0 in all games played in Auburn. The Tigers won 31-15 last season in Nashville, with Jarquez Hunter rushing for 183 yards, a then career high.
Hunter’s 278 rushing yards against Kentucky was the best by an FBS player this season and the fourth-best game in Auburn history. Hunter’s 214 rushing yards in the second half is the best single-half performance in Auburn history.
Under Freeze, the Tigers are now 6-0 when having a 100-yard rusher.
The Tigers have scored in a school-record 150 straight games, dating back to the first game of the 2013 season, breaking the old program record set from 1980-1992.
Auburn is tied for the national lead — with BYU, UTSA and Vanderbilt — with 10 players who have caught a touchdown pass this season.
The Tigers lead the nation with 13 pass plays of 40 yards or more this season.
Luke Deal and Eugene Asante are tied for eighth among all FBS players with 60 career games played.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith ranks 19th nationally and fourth in the SEC in yards per reception (19.30). His seven receiving touchdowns lead the SEC and are tied for 11th nationally.
Auburn ranks 12th nationally in yards per completion (14.14). The Tigers are 16th in the nation averaging 6.86 yards per play, 14th nationally averaging 8.8 yards per pass attempt and 24th nationally averaging 5.23 yards per rush.
Auburn is one of two teams in FBS whose opponents show negative punt return yards.
In the Freeze era, the Tigers are 5-0 when having a 100-yard rusher.
Auburn is 6-4 when scoring first and 3-8 when the opponent scores first. Under Freeze, Auburn is 7-1 when leading at halftime and 1-8 when trailing at halftime. The one loss was against Oklahoma this season and the one win was at Cal last season.
Under Freeze, the Tigers are 1-8 when scoring less than 20 points. They are 8-4 when scoring 20+ points.
Auburn remains No. 126 in turnover margin nationally, but in the last three games, Auburn is + .067 in turnover margin, which ranks No. 33 nationally. The Tigers are +2 overall in TO margin over the last three games, all on the road.
The Tigers have held Cal, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Missouri and Kentucky all under their scoring averages on the season (when factoring in only offensive points allowed, not defensive scores that add to the total). Vanderbilt averages 32 points per game. In the month of October (three games), Auburn’s total defense (319 ypg) ranks third in the SEC behind only Texas and Florida.
He has been rumored to Auburn for a while, and recently decommited from Florida. He’s now taking a visit to Auburn this weekend with his family, and so come all the official predictions for a commitment:
Not sure if the announcement happens this weekend or what, but I think Auburn is trying to push to get this over the line sooner than later. Mbatchou would give Auburn its 5th blue chip DL recruit in the 2025 class.
