Hello, I am planning to get my husband his first automatic watch. I am not a watch savvy in any way so any recommendation would be a great help.
Looking for a price range of £500- £700, classic and basically one that matches any outfit please.
Thank you!
Who approved this? 🤣
This exact model watch was owned by my father while I was growing up. It is a solar battery powered watch that uses the sun or a lamp to keep its charge. It was one of the things I had hoped to inherit after he died. I, in fact, did not inherit it. In fact, I did not inherit any of my father's belongings. Years have gone by via me searching for a watch that even closely resembled it. I had actually written off ever getting the exact watch, for I didn't know (until after I found and bought it) what exactly it was other than it being a Citizen. As I walked into the watch shop, I did my usual routine walk over to the Citizen section-glanced and oohed and awhed at the various wears they had in their collection. I didn't see it at first, and actually started to turn away when it caught my eye. "Oh my god." I was in denial, and asked the watch shop if I could see it. As soon as it touched my hand, I knew. This is my dad's watch. And if it's not- looks eerily similar to it. The shop was asking $500.00 for it. I wanted it- very badly. But ultimately went home without it in my possession. All night, this watch is all I could think about. I literally lost sleep over it. The very next day, as soon as the shop opened, I went in and bought it for $425.00. It is now one of my most prized possessions. It of course has all of the pamphlets and books that came with the box, and still had on the tag. Thank you for viewing and reading. -A
I've been on the lookout for a nice GMT for myself and realized that I prefer the look of just having the 24-hour indices on a chapter ring or straight on the dial like with the SBGM221G.
I'd love to know what other options there are out there that you guys love! I guess it's more of an open ended question though realistically I'd only consider <$10,000 options for myself.
That said, I'd love to just see any out there that you guys like, even the ones above that price!
The chrono hand has an issue. (Jerky chrono hand).
This problem IS known by Omega. A little set UP IS needed according to my AD watchsmith.
Ce message va permettre de répertorier le problème. L'aiguille du chronographe sacade de temps en temps. Le problème est connu de l'horloger de mon AD. Renvoi chez Omega Genève sous garantie.
6 semaines à attendre !
Looking to purchase a Certina DS-1 which reference should I purchase?
C029.207.11.051.00
C029.807.11.051.00
What is the difference?
hello guys , bought this watch for 130 euros including shipping , the watch works 100% with original pieces and original papers and box from roamer. Do you think can I make profit on it ?
have a nice day
Already have the itch to expand the collection, even though I'm still absolutely loving my most recent acquisition.
Hit me with some of your most beautiful GMTs. Budget <$10k
The Breitling Chronomat GMT 40 is tickling my fancy, with that gorgeous green dial. Wish the bezel were a second 24hr track instead of a dive timer though. And looks like an absolute scratch magnet.
I understand that the quality is terrible but I grabbed it from a youtube video I was watching and really liked the watch. It might be a bit more clearer in the youtube video and I've linked the video at the timestamp where you can best see the watch https://youtu.be/1ASw3aW2H0I?si=YPX6RXNYGsWd6yRf&t=495
Hello, I bought a new Invicta Vintage Diver recently. The package arrived today and when I look at the watch, I see steam inside. The watch was very cold when I received it, so it has probably been in a cold environment for a while. I tried to heat it with a hair dryer but the steam is still there. You can see it in the photo. Will this be fixed or should I send the watch back?
Hi all!
I am fortunate enough to save enough for me to get an AP Royal Oak 14790ST before Christmas as a gift for myself. But recently I am having second thoughts on getting an 116520 Black Dial Steel Daytona instead.
I have plans on getting them both but not all at the same time and do not have plans on selling them.
Given the market movements, which model would rebound in market costs anytime soon and which would still lose it's value?
Thank you for your inputs!
Hey, I recently received this BOSS watch as a gift. I really like it and it looks great on me. The automatic mechanism is cool as I didn’t even know that was a thing.
I have one question regarding this watch, what is the function of the small part that I’ve circled in the picture. I can’t find anything about it, or is it just a design feature?
Thanks!
My watch strap has kinked in the wrong direction on each side of the strap. Everything I’ve tried to fix it to straighten it out hasn’t worked. The links almost cams in place to prevent it returning. Any advice?
Today I am enjoying my first watch with its new nato strap. It is a Turkish brand which is now 25 years old and exporting their watches some countries. I bought it with my first salary more than 15 years ago. My watch used to have a heavy bracelet and now I feel like I have a brand new watch 🙂 Glass is mineral and needs to be upgraded to a sapphire dome. I like the polishing and functioning of the watch. No info about the movement but it works almost perfectly!
Hello, fellow watch-aficionados,
this question is mostly born from what I discover about my own preferences shifting with time. At the time I bought my first "serious" watch all I was interested in was robust, tough, 300m+ divers that would allow me to get to the GADA apex without me worrying about anything breaking or water leaking in, etc.
15 years on, I reflect on what I actually started valuing in a timepiece. I started paying more attention to higher-horology brands and models, which back in time I'd consider "old money buys", not because they were totally out of reach, but also had complications which, although fascinating in their own essence and arrangement, were just "meh" to me, as much as for me to want to have such in a timepiece of my own.
Back then, my grail watches were the SMPs, the JLC Polarises (still kinda is, it's gorgeous😁), the IWC Aquatimers, PAM Submersibles and so on.
Now I catch myself gander at smaller, lighter, thinner, more elegant, all-round more refined pieces. I even started liking and wanting Tudor and Rolex ( still hate the Rolex brand and the general culture around it, it's a complicated thing to explain).
I no longer look at any of my former grails (ok, I lied about the JLC again, I do😁), but instead have a wish-list full of 126200 Rolexes, Omega ATs, vintage Ulysse Nardin and Omega Constellations, the Blancpain Leman Grand Date Ultra Slim is now one of my grail watches, and I think the pano-date complication, although subtle and negligible, is one of the most underrated complications ever. Lately I even drool over watches the once considered "old money" like the PP 5960 and various Langes, F.P. Journe is just another thing that blows my mind.
Another thing is: admiration≠purchase. I can't justify shelling mid to high 4 or 5 digits on a watch, it's just not part of my prios. That doesn't stand in the way of just finding watches awesome and reading all about them.
Would be interesting to find out how your tastes changed over time and keep changing still.
Thinking of getting one for myself. I really love their sharp and clean design aesthetic, but I am not sure if I should get this, or look at some other brands. Help a fellow enenthusiast!
