Hey y’all just wanted to share my latest watch my gf recently offered me as an engagement gift on our back home from South Korea. I’ve bee looking at the recent spirit line from Longines, especially the classic spirit 37mm, as i was a bit scared the zulu would be too big even in 39mm. I was highly surprised though when I got to try and wear the zulu on my wrist at the AD, not that big and not that heavy, it was really hard to take it out from the wrist to be honest, love the dial colorway combinations. Also the GMT features makes actually a lot of sense as we are often visiting Korea to see her family, I can keep both France and SK time on a single watch !
I’m debating if I should get a nice black and/or khaki nato strap for it or keep it on the bracelet ?
Have a nice weekend
Are world time watches difficult to produce? (eg: Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, Rolex Word Timer, PM word time,...)
I am asking because it seems quite easy to make, you need:
The dial with the city names that moves along with the hour hand at the same speed.
A way to set up your timezone (i.e., match the hour hand with the city you are currently in).
But maybe it is more complex mechanically?
I got into watches through my dad, who is collector of a special kind. He doesn’t care about brands or anything, he collects what he likes. Mostly based on complications, forms or even colors. Growing up, he allowed me to always wear one of his watches, given that I return it before taking another one. The first one I actually bought that I still own is the Nomos Orion. I bought it from the first money I earned when still going to school. I added watches I like here and there and was even gifted very few for special occasions like getting my masters degree. Right now, I like a lot of watches which are very unobtainable so far, both financially and from an availability perspective. Open to any suggestions you might have to add to my collection!
Hey Guys!
Maybe you can help me out! I'm quite new to the watch world and looking for something specific that I can't find.
Ideally I would get a vintage inspired (like the Lorier Astra) solar powered watch with at least 10bar water resistance and a diameter of 36-38mm.
Do you have Ideas? I found some Seiko models like SNE527P1, but sadly its to large for my wrist and not that vintage tbh
Thanks
I'm selling three fossil big tic watches and I'm based from the Philippines. JR-8093, JR-8091, ES-9572. All watches are in good condition and have new batteries. Have minimal hairlines and newly polished. No inclusions, just the watches. Kindly send me a message here or on IG @chronosmiles anyone is interested. I can also provide more pictures of the watches. Thanks!
I found this funny as my solution was just to take the battery out. Someone with a huge watch collection once told me they are just fancy functional bracelets. At the time I didn’t really agree but now I wear this non functional watch all the time 🤣🙈 so I suppose they were right
If you’ve recently gotten a Swatch watch, you might notice the ticking sound of the battery is quite pronounced—especially in quieter settings. The ticking can be distracting, and many people find it louder than expected. Here are a few solutions you can try to dampen the noise:
1. Store It in a Soft Case: When not wearing the watch, keep it in a soft, padded case. This can help absorb some of the ticking noise, especially if you’re trying to keep it quiet in your room at night.
2. Wrap It in Cloth: Another easy fix is to wrap the watch in a soft cloth before placing it somewhere. This can help muffle the sound without needing to invest in a case.
3. Place It in a Drawer: If the ticking bothers you while you’re trying to sleep, put the watch in a drawer or another closed container to reduce the noise.
4. Use White Noise: This may seem indirect, but using a white noise machine or app can help drown out the ticking, making it less noticeable in quieter rooms.
5. Consider a New Movement: For a more technical fix, consult a professional about possibly replacing the movement with a quieter one. However, this can alter the watch and potentially void any warranties, so proceed with caution.
Swatch watches are known for their vibrant designs and unique aesthetics, but the ticking is a small drawback for some wearers. These solutions can help make your experience a bit quieter while still enjoying your watch’s style.
Finally got this watch this morning in the mail. I love field watches and had been thinking of grabbing this just for fun and it turned out way classier and heavier than I thought it would be. Threw it on a bracelet (I wasn’t 100% vibing with the dark brown nato it came on) because I’ve yet to see anyone put one of these on anything other than the strap it came with.
So about 6-7 years ago, I got an SKX and immediately got the strapcode oyster. I have been very impressed with the bracelet and it has held up great with me wearing it nearly daily. I just got a Seiko Turtle, SRPH59, and it appears that the oyster style bracelet for the turtle is sold out. Do they come back into stock quickly? What are other good places? Uncle Straps? Or from Longisland? Any suggestions?
Thanks
Told it was from the 30s/40s but I'm skeptical
Got this gem 9 years ago and just love it. Recently serviced and runs great. I know it's a Genta inspired watch that became popular around that time the AP RO became popular. Would love to hear your opinions or maybe stories about this small classic. :)
Hi, I started getting into watches a couple of years ago. I have a slim wrist (6 inch) and therefore drawn mainly to the 36-38mm case size options. I would appreciate any opinions or ideas on what could be next. Budget-wise i’ve normally stayed under the 2k mark, but maybe could go higher if worth it.
Would appreciate any feedback on what else could I be looking at or maybe something that i should consider changing. For context, some things Ive been thinking about: I would consider the new Longines Legend Diver in blue if it came in a 36mm variant (that only comes in black i think), or maybe some square-shaped dressier watch.
Thanks for any advice or recommendation!
Hi everyone,
I bought the Lucky Clover (I was one of the lucky losers) but although I really love the watch, I can't really wear it comfortably with the OEM strap because either the length or the buckle doesn't fit as I would like.
I'm based in the EU, Delugs offer the perfect shape for MAD 1 watches while other strap manufacturers focus on other brands, but I wish I could find a proper 24mm curved end strap, with curved spring bars as well, in Europe.
The watch always brings a smile to my face, the readability is good and the rotor is the icing on the cake.
I need a better strap with a buckle or a thinner deployant.
