Sorry if this is faq but I genuinely can’t get a clear answer anywhere I look. My main issue, though I was able to look past it, with vtmb was the lack of a character creator. Especially considering it came out 2 year after Morrowind which is a much worse game graphically but even that had a (shallow) character creator. Obviously I love vtmb but if 2 doesn’t have a character creator and I have to play as a preset character I likely will not pick the game up honestly.
Also if it’s not clear I mean a visual character creator. I’m aware we’ll be able to choose our clan.
I know a lot of people are saying the sequel to vampire masquerade bloodlines isn’t going to be at all like the original. But as someone who has no understanding of the franchise as a whole what made the first game good in the first place?
"DLCs on Day One = I won't be buying the game"
~People complaining about the DLCs were quiet when those were announced in 2019 and added to the $80-100 editions. There are zero details on those since the game was announced, wait for info on it before any wrong assumptions.
"No game news? Great, VTMB releasing March 2026"
~We are getting scheduled, well documented development diaries every 2 weeks in contrast to tame "cinematic" trailers and the huge lack of communication from 4-5 years ago. The game will be ready when it's ready: if it's delayed, great, because more time will be invested in VTMB2. If it's released, we'll simply have a finished product to enjoy. Speculation on dates is fruitless and release date is months away, be patient.
"But, Chinese Room games are...."
~Still Wakes The Deep was released this year and it was both a commercial and critical success. If a recent development doesn't tell you anything of what TCR can achieve nothing will change your expectations.
"At this point I'll be glad VTMB2 is cancelled"
~Tell that to the thousands of people craving for a sequel, and will gladly buy it as well as vampire fans. Tell that to the huge development team of over 100 employees willing to deliver a quality product while only a handful of forum dwellers complain mindlessly.
"Why are they named Phyre"
~Why is the protagonist not silent unlike in VTMB and they have a inner voice called Fabio? Any valid criticism of the game is more immersion-breaking than anything so cosmetic as a nickname (that was already revealed to be that, just an alias and not the real player character's name). You can complain on the dialogue system, combat, visuals...
Many complainers here prove not to know of VTMB or ARPGs, for that regard.
Hey everyone, i was bored so i threw together a playlist of christmas songs set to locations from Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines if you'd like something to help get you in the christmas spirit :)
So i downloaded a modded nosferatu model, placed it in the correct folders etc and its showing up perfectly. I modified the head DDS files to change the hair color but its still showing up exactly as it did before modification. Can anyone help? I don't want my nossie to be platinum blonde
So, this might be a stupid question. Some early game "spoilers" (first 10 mins or so).
When you head to Santa Monica and you see Mercurio crawling inside that building and follow him, there are several options what to say to him.
Given that it's the described building from the mail (didn't really pay much attention to it first, assuming there were markers lol, I'm not used to old RPGs), one could assume he is the guy you're looking for. But you don't necessarily know.
Once you talk to him, one option is to ask him if he's Mercurio. I asked him first how he's doing, being all beaten up and stuff, and followed the dialogue from there.
I'd assume it would be more immersive to first make sure he doesn't die or ask what happened before before asking about personal stuff. However, the option to ask whether he's Mercurio is gone after that.
So the game assumes you or your character already understood who he is. He starts talking about the Astrolit and I have no clue what he's talking about. It's almost as if I knew him before and the game just goes on from there. Which is kinda immersion breaking to me, but maybe that's just the way the game is.
So, are there certain dialogue options I should priotize to make it a natural playthrough? Stuff like that kinda irks me, it's not a big deal but like I said, a big immersion breaking to me.
I could just ask him about his name straight away, but that'd go kinda against my own playstyle.
Am I worrying too much and should just follow my own instinct and deal with the results or...?
I just started this game tonight after years of seeing talk about it. I've seen a ton of Jeanette art and cosplay in passing, enough to make me think she was a MAJOR character in this thing. I immediately wanted to go all in on the Sister's missions cause I'm familiar with Jeanette from that and cause I'm a sucker for scantily clad scary ladies.
I had no idea that there was something up with the two from anything in the game. Sadly I kinda had it spoiled though as when I was taking a few minutes break to go sit by the heater I Googled Jeanette, trying to find a Cosplayer I thought I remembered doing her look and instead I got a link to Jeanette's wiki with a picture of Therese attached to it and I immediately knew they were the same person. Funnily I didn't immediately jump to split personalities, I figured Jeanette was an act Therese was putting on to be able to manipulate men while keeping her reputation clean the split personalities still got me just a little bit.
Now I'm just wondering if anyone out there figured it out ahead of time from stuff in the game.
Hello all, I'm going through Chinatown and I am trying to trigger the Gone Fishin quest. I can get into the back of the ramen shop to get the guys eyes for the Eye Gouge hell quest. Once I give up the eyes the front door of the ramen shop unlocks but as soon as I walk in the guys in the back start shooting and no Yukie. The front door to the shop is locked until after I give up the eyes. Anyone have this same problem?
Unfortunately I accidentally got the Easter egg ending so that ruined all the seriousness luckily I can just reload lol
But man what a game, I can see why it has such a cult following the writing and the gameplay were really well done, which was enhanced by the unofficial patch so many thanks to Wesp5 for making this game accessible to so many of us decades later.
The clans, powers, guns, melee weapons, Kookie characters etc for a game of it's time it has so much of what I like in video games reminds me of titles like fallout nv a proper roleplaying game. It's a shame bloodlines 2 probably won't be as good but at this point the modders could do it themselves anyway.
Title is all you need.
I picked Tremere for my first play through, then did Malkavian on a second. The Children of Malkav are my favorite.
Just curious what the community chose for their first game.
Title says it all, this is kinda of a vtmb remake, but in a 2d point and click style, some plot points change a bit, I discovered this game today and I am intrigued
Love the classic VTM Bloodlines* game? Then join us as we bring the nights of Los Angeles to life! After a year-long pause, our server has been restarted and is ready to welcome new Kindred to the thrilling nights of 2004. We’re still polishing a few things, but we’re excited to dive back into the darkness with you!
What You Can Expect:
- 18+ community, with a preference for players aged 26+ (most of our players are between 25 and 45).
- A mature atmosphere: We try to respect players' boundaries regarding shock content but maintaining the gritty realism of the VTM world requires no taboo players. Please note, we expect players to embrace the IC world's darker aspects without requesting adjustments.
- Familiar faces from the lore: Interact with characters like Prince LaCroix, Therese/Janette, Vivi, Gary Golden and many more!
- Player-driven stories: We encourage creativity! While we don’t have constant STs, you can develop and run your own stories with approval, alongside the organic world events.
- Reduced PVP: Our focus is on PVE, with plenty of in-game threats already challenging your characters. Less PVP means a stronger and more cohesive community.
- Fast-paced gameplay: Time in-game matches real-life time! For example, today is December 3, 2003, in our game world.
If this sounds like the game for you, we’d love to have you join us!
There is not a single upcoming game for 2025 that has me more excited than Bloodlines 2.
Not only because it's a sequel that I've been expecting for years, but because World Of Darkness was cancelled and WoD deserves a great successful video game in order for us to get more of them.
I'm excited for Bloodlines 2 because we'll get to play an old vampire with experience, with raw power, who travelled through ages of men and learned almost everything about people, the way they work, the way they think.
For once, we're not gonna play the rookie that anybody can fool without having second thoughts.
We're gonna be able to create our own reputation and decide which way we're gonna solve problems.
Also, it should be fun to play someone like The Originals from The Vampire Diaries : a vampire so old and powerful that even 20,50 vampires wouldn't be a real danger.
I know our powers are gonna be locked and we're not gonna be "godlike", but I truly hope we'll get to this feeling of power when nearing the end of the story.
I want to feel like I'm playing an Elder vampire, more powerful than 90% of the vampires out there.
And I want to feel this power in dialogues and gameplay
I’m trying to find games that can fill the void this game left me. Preferably an RPG. What I really liked about vtmb was the setting, atmosphere, and how fun it was talking to almost every character. What games do you all think come closest to bloodlines in these aspects?
Hard to find information about this, I read one comment that said it was a bug, is there a way to fix it? Or is it intended?
I was already reading VTM RPG books and novels by the time I got Redemption first week of release (yes, I'm old). I LOVED it! I loved it so much I've recently tried to replay it on my Chromebook via steam and though it runs fine the higher resolution makes me need the resolution patch but I can't figure out how to access steam files on the Chromebook to install it. So I'm still playing it despite cut off heads in the cut scenes and cramped visuals throughout.
But you know what? It's still a fun game! It's rough around the edges with aging gameplay but the setting and story pull me through and I find myself wanting to keep going. I've also bought bloodlines (also played when it first came out) but it refuses to play giving me the 15mb error that I can't fix because like Redemption, I can't access the Steam game files and am unable to patch it. Too bad it would run well as I have a Chromebook with half decent specs. Anyhow back to Redemption... Were there ever any novels or Paper RPG products that featured Christof from the game? I really enjoyed his story and was curious if anyone picked it up? Also Redemption made me appreciate the Dark ages as such a great setting for VTM I think I like it better than the modern day stuff. Yes, I'm rambling as I simply like the game.
One thing this replay has made me do is dig out the Masquerade of the Red Death novel trilogy that apparently aren't popular among die hards... But man they are good fun and I love em. Maybe they won't hold up, maybe they will.
Thanks for letting me talk VTM everyone.
Hey VTMBers!
What are your personal favorite 3 Disciplines in the game (in no order, unless you want to specify)?
I ask because I like how differently the Clans can play and how their Disciplines interact, though I know there are certain synergies or favorites that each of us could or would pick (or do pick, if you use the Console).
I wonder if devolopers originally thought of making protean 5 as an actual wolf, like Beckett's transformation, not a half bat or werewolf looking so-called "war form", because I saw some concept art and it was just a wolf, actual animal looking wolf. It was Protean wolf-form. I think I saw it on wiki site.
Such a shame, cause it would have been nice if gangrel can turn into an animal wolf, not a werewolf, or werebat. I wonder if there is any mod for that, although I think it would be really difficult because of animations. Hmm.
This counts for ghouls and humans as well. I’m curious to know how old some of the characters seem to you guys. For example, Heather seems like she is about 20-23, and Knox seems like 28-32 to me? I haven’t seen official age confirmations so I’d love to see your guesses for your favorites.
Doing the snuff tape mission and reached the part where Abram's tells you to go to the mansion on King's Way. I do, kill the BBEG, fight my way back through the sewers to Hollywood, head back to Abrams and...
He asks if I've been to King's Way yet! No option to say yes, no way to go back there via the cab.
Is this a glitch? If so, it might be game breaking as there seems to be no way to advance the main storyline if Abrams won't introduce me to the Nos.
Otherwise, is there something I need to do to get him to recognise that I've completed the mission? Do I need to go back to King's Way via the sewers to collect something?
I finally bought the game myself instead of just watching Youtubers hooray 🎉🎉🎉 So I was expecting to spend a while just reading everything in character creation when I realized there's no option to choose a History. Why is it gone? Was that just a mod or is my version different or something?
