I'm not very savvy when it comes to vodka. I usually prefer tequila. However, I found a drink recipe for an Apple Cider Mule (amongst a few other apple cider cocktails) that looks bomb. Can anyone recommend a high end brand that has either a caramel or salted caramel flavor? I see a lot of stuff about Stoli, but I wanted to check with this sub first.
I just recently moved apartments and busted my prized bottle of Smirnoff North I purchased in Norway. Please send me a DM if you have any way to get it.
Surprisingly, I couldn't hardly find anything about it.
An online article stated that the Vera Wang "uses the rare Augusta potato that yields a sweeter and more earthy profile."
In an interview with Wang the interviewer said, "I really enjoy the mouthfeel of whatever potato it is you chose. It really achieves a thicker mouthfeel than the regular."
And the online New York Drinks Guide stated that the "nose is subtle green apple with a creamy and earthy taste." (It was unclear where these tasting notes came from.)
Anyone try the Vera Wang edition? Curious how it compares to the standard Chopin Potato.
Title basically says it all.
I had Nemiroff and it was splendid. I would love to know what else Ukraine has to offer.
Can anyone provide?
Title says it all. Asking my long term girlfriend’s father for his blessing in the upcoming week or so. He is mostly a Tito’s drinker and I come from a whiskey background (AKA out of my element). Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I love vodka, but the part about vodka (to me) that is the best is how it tastes of nothing. I like smooth, ice cold, vodka. I want the essence of alcohol but the taste of next to nothing. But I’m curious why others choose vodka, especially if they like gin as well.
What is it about vodka that you enjoy?
Is it weird? It's amazing I've never seen anyone describing it
The large bottle is difficult to maneuver in and out of the refrigerator. I have clean Gatorade plastic bottles that I drink water out of. Can I transfer the Vodka into them and keep the Vodka in smaller plastic bottles without ill effects?
I've tried it a couple of times. got me drunk a couple of times too lol and I can say it's the best vodka I've ever tried. It has barely any ethanol "odor", it tastes like nothing and I never get a hangover from it. Before, I liked Absolut because it was slightly cheaper and Finlandia was harder to get in my country, but that was pretty much it. Roughly 15€ vs 17€ for Finlandia. The fancier ones like Grey Goose or Belvedere run for 40-50€ and I really can't justify spending that much on vodka, but if anyone has tried them and compared them to the mid-range ones, let me know.
I can’t find it anywhere and the link to their site now gives a 404 error.
Gluten does not survive the distillation process. This isn’t an opinion, it’s a scientific fact. The only thing Tito’s did that was better than anybody else was put the obvious on the label for morons. The ONLY way for there to be gluten in a bottle of liquor post distillation is for a producer to add it post distillation, of which I know of zero additives/flavors that require gluten to add orange/pumpkin spice/basic bitch to a bottle. If you have celiacs, you can drink any vodka with zero concerns for your health. In the absurdly rare event your doctor told you to avoid certain vodkas, I would suggest asking your doctor to explain to you, in detail, the distillation process and the affect it has on the enzymes that celiac reacts to. I’m not saying your doctor didn’t ear their degree, I’m saying the distillation process is also a science and not one they teach in med school.
idk if this is the right subreddit for this so i apologize if thats the case. i only started drinking last year and quickly came to realize that i have horrible reactions when i drink vodka. one or two shots will give me the worst stomach pains ive had and any more than that, i’ll be vomiting for anywhere between 8-12 hours straight. this never happens to me when i drink tequila or soju which are the only other alcohols ive had. i met someone at a party over the summer who told me that they were allergic to potatoes which is why they can’t drink vodka and when i asked what happens if they do drink it, they described my exact symptoms.
im not allergic to potatoes though so im trying to figure out what else it could be. for reference, the only vodkas ive had are new amsterdam, smirnoff, and belvedere (i tried tito’s once but spit it out bc that was the most vile thing ive ever tasted). if there’s any vodka connoisseurs or ppl with knowledge on allergies that could help, id appreciate anything that might lead me in the direction of pinpointing what’s causing the bad reactions. thank you!!
side note: seeing an allergist is not currently an option for me but something i plan to pursue once i have the means!
I have only heard about this 'bready' vodka recently and haven't been able to get it out of my mind. Have done a lot of googling but can't find anywhere that actually sells it. Any help would be appreciated :D
Unsure of what to do with vodka after experimenting with whiskey (jack daniel’s) i didn’t like it too much honestly, hoping vodka has something better in store?
I just got a bottle of beluga transatlantic racing and I’m a fan of the flavor and texture. Wondering what y’all think about the Stoli Elit? it’s pretty much the same price as the beluga. Are there other vodkas you think stand in the same category as these? I also enjoy Belvedere but not Chopin.
Hello, I have a quick question. i’m a casual drinker who up until recently was buying the bottom of the shelf tequilas and vodkas and would always get the worst hangovers until one of my good friends recommended that I buy higher quality products so I stop drinking Smirnoff and started buying Chopin vodka and what I’ve noticed is that I feel like I don’t get as sloppy drunk as I used to and I don’t have any hangovers. Is it all in my head or does the low quality ingredients really affect your body differently? for example, in the past, if I took 4 one ounce shots of Smirnoff, I would start to get sloppy drunk but tonight I took four shots of Chopin & I definitely had a buzz, but it was a smooth buzz and I already sobered up.
It’s my fav vodka, however it has seemed to stop being in stores, is there a reason for this?
Hey all, just wondering if anyone else has had this experience.
I’ve drank and enjoyed many bottles of Sobieski over the last 3-4 years after seeing it recommended online. Over many bottles, it’s always been smooth and overall inoffensive for the price.
However, the bottle I got last night has this horrible burnt yeast aroma/off flavor. I immediately recognized it as burnt yeast from my own experiments in distillation; running stripping runs a little too hard and fast on sugar wash that isn’t entirely clear can give this same intense scorched, almost bordering on sulfuric yeast note.
My girlfriend also immediately detected that it had a horrible off flavor when we took our first sample of this bottle.
So I guess long story short, anyone ended up with a bottle of Sobieski with this flavor? It seems to be fading away a little bit now that the bottles gotten some air in it, but it seems very unusual to find this in any vodka I’ve tried so far.
Not trying to be condescending or anything, just (really) genuinely curious.
Bought a bottle of Chopin tonight based on reviews and I absolutely hate it. Tastes like straight alcohol with nothing in it.
For the same price, I could have bought a pretty ok whisky or scotch.
Yeah am I kinda drunk
American trying to get some hammer+sickle vodka. What's a man gotta do?
While in Italy I had a bottle of vodka that had a bear on it. It said it was made in Poland and I can't remember what it was does anyone have any ideas? I know it wasn't zubrowka it was definitely a bear not a bison or any other creature.
