Hi all, I’m looking to fill the second room in my apartment by the end of November and was wondering, are UWT students still on the hunt for housing? I’d really prefer a student roommate so we have cohesive lifestyles, but if everyone has already settled down, should I bother focusing advertising towards students or just open applications to anyone? Feel free to message me if you’d like info on the room as well :)
I have a lot of downtime on campus and was wondering if anyone knows of good spots that are chill + aesthetically pleasing. Preferably with a lot of natural lighting
soooo like, does anyone know what's up with the old guy outside of campus? he's rambling about random things every day and has that schizophrenia-symptomatic writing paper sheet thingy and has been on campus for like. ever since orientation this year??? has he been here for a while?
i'm genuinely curious bc he seems... kind of odd i guess, and tbh kinda threatening (love tacoma love it here </3), but it's almost entertaining by now somehow. i'm just surprised campus security hasn't gotten complaints about him basically yelling to nobody, i feel like it's pretty off-putting. :/ what do you all think?
right now he's talking about how samsung is controlled by multiple countries or whatever. fun!
Just wondering if there’s any private rooms or good spots in general.
I have heard a couple people mention there is some way students rate their professors. Not talking about the end of course surveys.
I hear there is some website or something outside of UW. Can anyone shed light on this?
This is probably a long shot, but does anyone still have their course pack for TBUS400 from last Autumn quarter (2024)? Professor Shin teaches the class and is using the same one this quarter. Willing to pay if anyone has it!
Parking passes are all pretty much sold out now. I heard today we can park at the Tacoma Dome and catch the T Link. Anyone do this? If so, how is it? Is the parking garage full usually?
Can sophomores register for junior and senior classes only?
Is anyone in the urban planning program at uw Tacoma? Just wondering what your thoughts are! Do you like it? Was it hard to get into the program? Any other information you may find useful pls include it! Ty!
Can you schedule two classes where one ends at 5:50 and the other starts at 5:50?
Im an incoming freshman, I tested in 1 IB subject in HS that being Lang&Lit english. I passed and i received 5 credits. But it doesn’t meet the UW requirement, BUT it still counts towards my degree. In that case what does that actually do for me lol?
I'm trying to join the biomedical sciences program at UWT but I am pretty worried of not getting in. I have a really low hs gpa like a 2.7 by the end of senior year i'll maybe get a 3.0 or at least get close. im in running start getting my bio AS with a 3.5gpa or higher. I have many research internships including ones at seattle childrens, played cello for 12 years + a few music awards, leadership, and a very traumatizing personal about how a loved one getting cancer fueled my interest towards biomed sciences (that also explaining why my grades were low in the beginning of hs) etc. be completely honest, do I have a good chance of getting into uw tacoma, even with my hs gpa being so low?
Hello! I just recently submitted a transfer application to UW Tacoma. I’m really hoping to get in! My transfer GPA is above the minimum, but still under a 3.0. Had something very traumatic happen to me during college and I eventually dropped out. I explained this in the personal statement.
Does anyone know if admissions takes job history and current employment into account for admission decisions? I currently work in law enforcement and am also a Reservist. This is in my personal statement too.
hey! i’m planning to transfer from TCC to UWT in spring. My only concern is I’d have one missing pre-req (TCSS 141 or 142) that I’d need to do in spring and I’d need to wait till grades are posted for it. Is IT extremely competitive to get into at UWT or could I apply in late June and get into the major if my pre req grades are good
What do i do on the college transcript part? Im a incoming freshman here.

I am a rising senior and also halfway done with my Biology DTA from HCC. Can I use that Biology Direct Transfer Agreement to transfer into UWT's Biomedical Sciences program? So far I have a 3.7 college gpa, strong extracurriculars including research internships at Seattle Children's Research Center, just my hs gpa was bad because of hardships out of my control. Do I have a good shot or is that program really hard to get into?
First year student completing online orientation - do I absolutely have to upload a photo for the Husky Card or can I just get my picture taken on campus? I know Seattle offers photos in their undergrad office up there but I can't find anything on Tacoma...
Does anyone know what public transportations are available from UW Tacoma to Kent after 6 pm?
Hi everyone, I was wondering has anyone attend the SET New Student Orientation. I saw that it said from 1pm-7pm... is it worth going to? Do you get free stuff like lanyards or something?
Hi Everyone
I am an upcoming University of Washington Tacoma(UWT) student this fall (September 2024). I need recommendations/suggestions on Housing. I need to stay closer to UWT because I have evening classes.
My Options
What would be a better option in terms of safety?
Should I consider an Apartment complex? Frankly, I prefer a house to an Apartment. The Apartments on my list are Rook, Ellis Apartment, Villagio & 502estate. I will choose an Apartment only if it is highly recommended.
Any suggestions would be helpful as I am coming to the USA for the first time and doing Housing research completely online. Currently, I am in my home Country.
Question basically summarizes it. Just in detail what were some topics and type of math you did and stuff. Thank you!
Lowkey it might be stupid considering im out of state, but as a rising senior im thinking if i get rejected to uw Seattle, uw tacoma seems like a really nice school—Small class sizes while still having the general uw prestige and such. How is uw tacoma? Tell me everything lol, would it be worth it coming out of state (if it comes to that)? How is Tacoma in general? I’m gonna be pre vet so im majoring in bio. Thank u
Can I still get in if I apply past the priority deadline? The website says no applications past August 31 but the priority deadline is July 1 and I applied and sent transcripts maybe 4 days after. (Transfer Student if that matters)
Dear campus community:
On Saturday, July 6, shortly before 6 a.m., a tragic car accident resulted in severe damage to the campus electrical system in the Cragle parking lot. This has led to a campus-wide power outage, with the exception of Court 17 and other limited areas. We are working closely with multiple agencies to identify a solution. We do not yet have an estimated day or time for power to be restored.
Remote working/learning week of 7/8 through 7/13
For the period of Monday, July 8, through Saturday, July 13, in-person operations will be suspended. Learning and working will continue remotely where possible. We remain in suspended operations today.
Due to HVAC systems being out and the current forecast of high temperatures this week, it is not safe to be on campus unless you are essential personnel. Please do not come to campus.
Continuity of learning for faculty and students
Faculty should consult the instructional continuity website for guidance: https://teaching.washington.edu/course-design/instructional-continuity/.
Students should seek guidance from their instructors as needed.
Guidance for staff
The UWHR website provides information about pay and leave practices during suspended operations. If you have additional questions, contact UW Tacoma HR at uwthr@uw.edu or 253-692-4701.
Information Technology
Campus networks and servers have not been affected by the power outage. Information Technology support and resources can be found here: https://www.tacoma.uw.edu/it. Contact UW Tacoma IT at tachelp@uw.edu or 253-692-HELP (4356), if you need assistance during regular hours (Monday – Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.).
Please work with your supervisors and/or deans as needed. Thank you for your flexibility following this incident, as well as taking all measures to ensure your own safety and the safety of others while operations are disrupted.
Sincerely,
Sheila Edwards Lange, Ph.D. Chancellor
If I'm commuting there, do I have to pay for parking every day I go to classes?
I took the intro series three years ago and textbook buy back is no longer taking it. It is a loose leaf in a binder. It is a Mcgraw hill by burdge and Overby 4 edition. DM me if you’re interested!
Hi, I hope you're all well. I am an international student planning on attending UWT for graduate studies. I was hoping I could get some information related to housing.
Any information regarding these queries would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
So I'm applying in the fall for the school psychology graduate program after my last quarter in the Summer. I did the calculations and after this Summer, my gpa for my last 90 credits in undergrad at my current school would be at a 2.81 which is below the 3.0 requirement for admissions. Though, I know it's still a possibility to be accepted with a gpa below the 3.0 required. I do have very strong writing abilities and have a certificate that's related to school psychology as well as work experience related to psychology and plan to volunteer in some sort of mental health related organization. What's the average gpa of graduate students who are accepted and do I really have a solid chance to get in?
