Moving up to Humboldt County and over doing all the moving ourselves. Looking for any good recommendations for movers at a reasonable price.
MUSK needs to come to Ukiah and audit the city for efficiency. Much waisted here
It's hard to see if anyone lives out there. Not the western 'tree side," but the eastern side where the hills look purple/blue at sunset.
Hi y'all! I'm a 30y.o. married male in Ukiah who is looking to find a group of good people to go out with to practice/participate in hunting, fishing, firearm training, trap building, and survival skills.
I'm hoping to make a group trip out to the national Forest at least once a month. Things are always better when done with friends.
For me it's:
Mexican food/local food in general
Fall colors
Todd Grove Park/Sundays in the Park
Hiking Low Gap
How green the valley is after a rain, and the purple hues at sunset.
Ukiah Players Theater and SPACE
I think Ukiah needs more music events, but that's something we can work on.
What are your favorite things about Ukiah?
Just look at what a beautiful day it is today. You can sit outside, relax, listen to the birds and look at the trees. 🙂
We’ve had 50 people say it’s the ocean and one person say there’s no way it can be the ocean.

We’re in Ukiah for a long weekend (riding skunk train, visiting 10,000 Buddhas, solar living in Hopland, etc.). Anyway, walking around last night to dinner we stumbled upon Sword & Board and my teenage son was in heaven!!! What a fantastic LGS you all have in your midst!! There was a Friday night MTG draft about to happen and he was really tempted to join in, but felt shy to be a stranger to a group who seemed to know each other. So instead we spent some time admiring the super impressive Magic card cases and posters and secret lair sets. He was truly blown away as our own local game store only has half a case and no draft events. We mourned the loss of our other LGS that did have more MTG focus (pandy loss). Anyway! We may be back. And wanted to share this appreciation.
People with class.. not
Hi there! We’re headed up to Hopland and Ukiah today for a long weekend and curious what 101 is looking like with flooding. Google maps has a flood warning on, but it’s unclear if that stretch of road between Hopland and Ukiah is actually drivable right now. Anyone local and online who can share an insight?

So I’m doing a gift exchange thing at work and I’m looking specifically for gifts in a very…peculiar category, and I’d like to buy local if possible.
Does anyone know anywhere local (Ukiah Valley, Willits, or Lakeport ideally, but I could also drive to Sonoma County) that sells Huichol or other indigenous Mexican art or clothing? Could also be in the style of the Aztec or Mayan cultures, something similar to the photo I posted. Blankets, clothing, art, or even trinkets/knick-knacks…anything really. Anyone know of any places locally that might sell stuff like that? I’m really trying to NOT order something off the internet, so I’d appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks in advance! Happy Holidays and all that!
I think Ukiah and the surrounding area is the best place on earth, so my finace and I are getting married up there and starting a family.
I'd like any and all advice and ideas on businesses that you'd like to see or that you think the area needs... Except for restaurants. I've watched enough Kitchen Nightmares to know I shouldn't start one!
The idea isn't to make all the money in the world, but to make an honest living and improve the community by providing something that it needs.
Thanks :) .
"Usually Kickin' it at Home" is right. It's really hard to find people who want to do anything and sometimes I spend all day by myself.
This is just my experience.
Oh, Ukiah, California—where dreams go to take a long, leisurely nap. If Mendocino County were a family, Ukiah would be the middle child: not exciting enough to be the favorite and not troubled enough to be interesting. It's a place where "something to do" means deciding whether to hang out at the Walmart or the CVS.
The biggest claim to fame? The "City of Ten Thousand Buddhas," where people go for serenity—probably to escape from Ukiah itself. And let's not forget the Ukiah Speedway, where locals gather to watch cars drive in circles because, let’s face it, that’s about as much excitement as this town can handle.
Ukiah's historic downtown is quaint, but "quaint" is just a polite way of saying, "This place peaked in the 1950s." The highlight of the week is the farmer's market, where you can buy overpriced organic kale from someone who probably lives in a yurt. And if you’re really feeling wild, you can splurge on a night out at the one fancy-ish restaurant in town, where “fine dining” means a cloth napkin and a menu without typos.
Nature enthusiasts flock to Ukiah for its scenic vineyards and hiking trails, but they quickly learn that a scenic hike is just a reminder that there's no cell service and no escape from the never-ending smell of patchouli and cannabis.
Oh, and let's talk weather. Summers are blazing hot, winters are damp and chilly, and somehow both seasons manage to feel depressing in their own special way.
But hey, at least the people are nice—well, nice enough to not laugh when you tell them you moved there on purpose. Cheers to you, Ukiah! A small town with big ambitions... of staying exactly the same forever.
How are the roads this week? Dry?
In particular, Pacific Ridge, Lovelady Ridge and others in and around Stonyford OHV.
Any better place to ask? Ranger Stations phone lines are busy all the time :-(
I thought they were police or farming drones, but after hearing the story about New Jersey, I want to see if anyone else saw them.
I've seen them hovering over the vineyards and orchards too, so I figured they could have been like PGE or something too.
I did some googling and found info from 2016 as well as a defunct website. Are there any groups that still meet up to play chess in the area?
every time i pass the small town, your roads are utter shit. whats with that? like shit, I know i entered city limits once the road starts to buzz
With there being so many spots scattered throughout town, I am curious to see what everybody thought. My vote goes to El Molcajete, but perhaps I missed a place.
Why are people here so ugly?
How does a person get involved in the community around here? Are there any organizations I could give some time to?
my boyfriend M22 and I F25 will be moving up to Ukiah from the inland empire next month. He will be working for calfire and the territory will be new for us, its a big change and we are super nervous😭 im looking for possible friends to get to know that can be our tour guides🫶🏼
Is there anyone here that plays any fighting games? Seems like it’s a dying breed in our county, but there’s a scene over at Common Collectibles in Willits, and a FGC friendly hub at Next Level Gaming Lounge in Ukiah
Hi,
Does anyone know of a nearby used bookstore where one could drop off excess books and get credit?
