I grew up going to church but stopped many years ago. I do miss church on Christmas - there’s a special vibe to those services. What churches would welcome an errant sinner to come sing Christmas songs? I LOVE Christmas music so looking for an open minded place with great music. Thanks!
I think Ukiah and the surrounding area is the best place on earth, so my finace and I are getting married up there and starting a family.
I'd like any and all advice and ideas on businesses that you'd like to see or that you think the area needs... Except for restaurants. I've watched enough Kitchen Nightmares to know I shouldn't start one!
The idea isn't to make all the money in the world, but to make an honest living and improve the community by providing something that it needs.
Thanks :) .
"Usually Kickin' it at Home" is right. It's really hard to find people who want to do anything and sometimes I spend all day by myself.
This is just my experience.
Oh, Ukiah, California—where dreams go to take a long, leisurely nap. If Mendocino County were a family, Ukiah would be the middle child: not exciting enough to be the favorite and not troubled enough to be interesting. It's a place where "something to do" means deciding whether to hang out at the Walmart or the CVS.
The biggest claim to fame? The "City of Ten Thousand Buddhas," where people go for serenity—probably to escape from Ukiah itself. And let's not forget the Ukiah Speedway, where locals gather to watch cars drive in circles because, let’s face it, that’s about as much excitement as this town can handle.
Ukiah's historic downtown is quaint, but "quaint" is just a polite way of saying, "This place peaked in the 1950s." The highlight of the week is the farmer's market, where you can buy overpriced organic kale from someone who probably lives in a yurt. And if you’re really feeling wild, you can splurge on a night out at the one fancy-ish restaurant in town, where “fine dining” means a cloth napkin and a menu without typos.
Nature enthusiasts flock to Ukiah for its scenic vineyards and hiking trails, but they quickly learn that a scenic hike is just a reminder that there's no cell service and no escape from the never-ending smell of patchouli and cannabis.
Oh, and let's talk weather. Summers are blazing hot, winters are damp and chilly, and somehow both seasons manage to feel depressing in their own special way.
But hey, at least the people are nice—well, nice enough to not laugh when you tell them you moved there on purpose. Cheers to you, Ukiah! A small town with big ambitions... of staying exactly the same forever.
How are the roads this week? Dry?
In particular, Pacific Ridge, Lovelady Ridge and others in and around Stonyford OHV.
Any better place to ask? Ranger Stations phone lines are busy all the time :-(
I thought they were police or farming drones, but after hearing the story about New Jersey, I want to see if anyone else saw them.
I've seen them hovering over the vineyards and orchards too, so I figured they could have been like PGE or something too.
I did some googling and found info from 2016 as well as a defunct website. Are there any groups that still meet up to play chess in the area?
every time i pass the small town, your roads are utter shit. whats with that? like shit, I know i entered city limits once the road starts to buzz
With there being so many spots scattered throughout town, I am curious to see what everybody thought. My vote goes to El Molcajete, but perhaps I missed a place.

Why are people here so ugly?
How does a person get involved in the community around here? Are there any organizations I could give some time to?

Is there anyone here that plays any fighting games? Seems like it’s a dying breed in our county, but there’s a scene over at Common Collectibles in Willits, and a FGC friendly hub at Next Level Gaming Lounge in Ukiah
Hi,
Does anyone know of a nearby used bookstore where one could drop off excess books and get credit?
Halloween costume contest and show at Thirsty Axe in Ukiah. Should be a good time, Top Shelf always puts on a solid show. Peace and Love!
Hi! Anyone knows the route for the behind the wheel test of DMV ukiah? Please share here if you know, thanks a lot!
I am attending Mendocino college in Ukiah but I have a kind of tight schedule As I play on one of the sports teams and travel multiple hours home on the weekends I am free. Are there any jobs during the week that are flexible with schedules that you would recommend. TIA!
Looking for a new town and on a recent roadtrip I really fell for Ukiah. I have a job where I can work remote. 37, female, no kids, small dog. Looking for some peace and quiet, lower cost of living, and being closer to nature. All my homies are down here in SoCal, so I’m not expecting to find a whole new friend group at my age, but meeting some new cool local people would be great. I love slow-living, cooking, art, records, travel and learning languages etc. love hosting dinners too and cooking for people. Also, wondering if there’s a good dog park or other dog owners for doggie play dates. What part of town should I look in?
I'm moving my family, 2 sons ages 4-6 and my 1 year old daughter, the neighborhood seems nice and from what I hear it is, I'm curious about the elementary schools for my boys, also curious about any general info about the neighborhood, thanks everyone we are very excited this is where my kids will be growing up!
Hi everyone I know this is a long shot but has anyone been enrolled in the nursing program at mendocino college? Im hoping to apply for fall 2025 but just trying to see what my options are because I live in Petaluma and Im hoping to commute but I might just have to find a room to rent in Ukiah. Are most clinicals in Ukiah and are labs and lectures all on the main campus? Is it monday through fridfay? Thanks to anyone who can give me some type of idea I feel like im in the dark lol
Hi there, we’re going to be passing through Ukiah this week, and although we will have our dogs with us, (and it will be hot, so we won’t be able to do much), I want to see what Ukiah is all about, even if just on a surface level. Any suggestions for where to scope out (the good and the bad)? We’d love to stop for a coffee and a snack, any suggestions? TIA!
I just moved to Willits which is close enough about a week ago and I don’t have any friends in Cali . Interests are music , food, football, mma.
