I know this might be a rhetorical question, but are tinted license plate covers actually illegal? And if so, why are there so many cars on the streets with them?
The other day, I saw a car with a fully tinted license plate cover that made it impossible to read a single letter or number on the plate. The driver ran right through a stop sign and almost hit a mother with a stroller. It was terrifying to witness, and it got me thinking… in cases like hit-and-runs, how are we supposed to identify these cars if you can't even read the license plate?
I’ve always wondered how there could be no leads in some of those hit-and-run cases you hear about on the news. Now it makes sense; even if there are eyewitnesses, if the license plate is obscured, people can just drive off without consequences.
The tinted license plate covers I am referring to are like the ones shown in the pictures (this is not the same car that almost hit the mother with a stroller). Why isn’t this being enforced more strictly? Has anyone else noticed this trend, or is it just me?
Is a 2016 Ford Mustang V6 a good choice for daily use in Canada, especially in terms of maintenance costs, fuel economy, and winter handling?
I'm planning to get a used car under 15,000 CAD as I'll be shifting to Whitby soon. I've been considering a 2016 Mustang V6 because of its style and performance, but I’m concerned about the practicality for daily use, especially in Canadian winters.
For anyone who owns or has experience with the 2016 Mustang V6:
If the Mustang isn't ideal, are there other sporty or stylish options (maybe BMW, Mercedes, or Audi) under 15k CAD that you’d recommend? Thanks in advance!
For context, this was the typical traffic that spills off the Gardiner Eastbound ramp onto Lakeshore at Yonge & York St.
This truck driver wasn’t letting anyone merge to switch lanes in front of him. I tried and gave the universal wave of “thank you” and he flipped me the bird 👍🏻.
When this car noticed a gap and merged the truck driver got out of his vehicle and proceeded to unnecessarily yell at this (assumed) Uber driver and spit on his window- accomplishing nothing.
TLDR; road rage that didn’t make traffic move any faster
I thought I was nice with the light taps but then there was no cars back for 200 feet.
Willowdale / Finch needs a permanent advance green
Hi, please remove if not appropriate. I was just wondering if there’s any driving school in GTA that has some sort of courses/programs that teaches you defensive driving techniques. Thinking of gifting it to my youngest sister who will be getting her G2 soon. She’s in her early 20s, no accidents or tickets but just want her to be prepared as much as possible. Would driving schools just normally offer these tips or techniques during regular road-sessions? Thanks!
I have been in Toronto for a week. I was staying downtown off Yorkville. I have never been in a city that made me so upset. Slow driving, sudden lane changes, just stopping in the right lane and putting on flashers, going slow even on the expressway, blocking intersections. Etc etc. I don't think I've ever been angrier at a constant stream of bad driving and complete obliviousness to everything around them. Flying home now and I don't even want to drive my own vehicle.
They wanted to turn right from the middle lane at Eglinton and Mount Pleasant.
Casually driving with my 2 kids when I noticed these two driving erratically and at insane speeds going in and out of traffic on the 401 easy. Genuinely thought the car was going to clip me
The last five years the traffic been getting much worse and I’ve been noticing that during peak hours the traffic lights seem to be worsening the traffic. You literally stop at every intersection where it would be logical to get green for at least a couple intersections. + that one odd pedestrian that wants to cross and then the light switches in his favour messing up everything for the car traffic.
My gf got into a collision with a pickup truck (fault not clear in my opinion - complex situation)
Our car got some small scratches on driver side bumper and his truck's passenger-side door got scratched. He was alone in the car, came out yelling to her. He was totally fine and pictures of collision show its extremely soft.
But now he is claiming physcological injury. What does that mean for us? Its totally insane but will that affect our insurance renewal or anything?
Off lately there are many cars doing this. I never knew we can do this and teach teenagers that’s it OK to be waiting like this.
not only sniffing the ass of the car in front, but blocking themselves in and creating an unsafe merging situation for themselves and the car trying to exit right??? galaxy brain shit
Eglinton and Leslie.
I was northbound on Hwy 404 yesterday at about 7:00 pm and just short of the 407 overhead a car passed me at high speed and broke my side view mirror. It didn’t stop and kept fishing between cars at high speed. I was in a black BMW 530 and I think the car that hit me was a grey or blue Tesla SUV. It seemed as if it also hit a few other cars on the way - did anyone here see or experience this yesterday?
In a span of 8 minutes, GVHP 907 tries to muscle their way in. Runs a red light. Blocks traffic to think about making a left turn and then turning in front of traffic. (takes a different route, we meet up again). Then straddles the middle of the only two lanes.
Recently, there were new right turn signals installed on Bloor Street after the opening of bike lanes. However, these right turn signals don’t have a “no right turn on red” signs (as shown in the above photo). I see so many cars not making a right on a red light. Am I missing something here cause last time I checked, the only thing restricting a right on red is the sign at least for Ontario. I know places in the US where having a right turn light implies a no right on red but I don’t believe this is the case in Ontario. Am I the oblivious one here or do drivers need better education?
I did not expect him to move into the right lane on a left turn.
Could I have done better in this situation? I thought he was stopping for the sake of the stop sign. Maybe should have kept more distance but had I no idea his intention was to back up. Thankfully it was a car behind him and not a small child
Happened yesterday but I forgot to post it. Zoomed it in to see better - this is a dashcam video. Idiot driver, when I passed them the entire right side was smashed up I’m assuming from a separate incident
F150 was the cherry on top lmao
Got my winter tires/rims ordered and will be getting them installed in the next few weeks when they arrive. Did the Costco thing, as it's a good deal with the swap out charge being $0 when the time comes next spring and beyond. It will be my first time getting these types of tires at Costco so any comments are appreciated. I've not had winter tires since getting my Nissan Micra in 2017, but I've been retired since then, so if it snows too much, I just stay home or take transit. My all weather tires that came with the Micra have aprox 45,000.kms on them, so, not worn out, but will now last longer with the switcheroo every winter season. Looking to remind my insurance company I now have winter tires, so expecting a small discount. We'll see what happens there. I just wanted to post this as I have missed having snow tires the past 7 years and will certainly appreciate them now. Even with almost no snow in the Toronto area I live in, the cold also effects grip and the extended wear/tear on my all seasons is going to be welcomed.
