I know this was posted here before, but just imagine the idea of some survivor clambering upon the remains of the grand staircase like some improvised raft after it broke up and floated out when it flooded.

A question about Welin Quadrant Davits

I was researching Welin Quadrant Davits and found this really cool 1:10 scale model that demonstrates the function pretty well, but I realized I did not know the name of the thing the rope is wrapped around, does anyone know?

Whilst in Southampton tonight I took a picture of the Engineers memorial, I’ve seen this many times before but never in the dark.

Why did Hitchins think Carpathia was just there for the bodies and not the survivors?

Was that common practice in those days?

What were the reactions of Titanic survivors when the wreck was discovered in 1984?

Would Titanic's whistles sound differently if powered by steam instead of compressed air?

I just watched the video of Titanic's whistles being sounded using compressed air. Would they still sound the same if they used steam like they were designed?

    Finding the Titanic

I fell down a Titanic documentary rabbit hole yesterday. Several showed footage of the initial discovery of the Titanic.

The team seemed to know they'd found her when they saw the boilers. What was special about the Titanic's boilers that made them so identifiable as belonging to the Titanic?

    Question about the Titanic's size

So I've read in a few different places that at the time, the Titanic was the largest moving vessel ever built. I'm curious though - how is this possible if her sister ship (the Olympic) predates her by a year? Did they make the Titanic slightly bigger? Or is this fact not really true? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Was it true that the Titanic was drifting away while it sank? If so, how far did it drift?

    Liverpool Seamen’s Pension Fund

The White Star Line made a significant economic contribution to Britain (and Liverpool, in particular). However, the Ismay family also arranged for significant social provision for retired seafarers, their widows, and the widows of those lost at sea:

Were different versions of the 1997 film shown?

So we all know about the deleted scenes from the film by now. I did not until today.

However I saw some of these scenes in maybe my first or second watch of the film without realising these were deleted scenes. One being the alternate ending and part of the Extended Carpathia(rose bundled up looking very pale)

I'm too young to have seen it in cinemas my first 2/3 watches of the film were via tv broadcast. It's only through watching it again and searching do I come across them labled as deleted scenes.

trying to search for alternate releases just brings me to the deleted scenes.

Again some of the deleted scenes I had never seen before so that was fun. but am very puzzled by the ones I clearly remember watching to the point I was able to find them.
