Hey all,
I bring my girls to the Enchanted Beaver Lake event every year. This year I was unable to get tickets. If anyone knows anyone who has an extra ticket or would be willing to part with it for a reasonable upcharge, please message me.
If you haven't gone before, it's very nice. Tickets are hard to come by, so you have to wait for the release date and then act quick.
Thanks in advance fingers crossed
1.Columbus Bakery 2.Angottis Restaurant 3.The Market Diner Yes, in that order. Columbus Bakery bread is my all time favorite. Angotti’s is the best Italian restaurant in C.N.Y. The Market Diner is a great place for breakfast and lunch. I’d give my left arm for a loaf of Columbus bread.
Hey all.
Having out of town guests so I am looking for suggestions for hotels or Airbnb.
Any places you would avoid or recommend?
Most of the visit will be spent south of the city, Beak & Skiff, Green Lakes, those kind of places.
Many thanks.
My girlfriends birthday is coming up and she has requested a tour of places that have those plastic duck vending machines. I'm hoping to find a list of some sort
My sister is visiting and she is a very passionate fan. What's the best place to go that is downtown or walking distance from downtown?
Kitty Hoynes, The Hop Spot? Maybe Middle Ages?
I said what I said.
TLDR: Has anyone successfully gotten one of the home improvement grants or loans from Home Headquarters? I'm struggling with them and trying to keep hope that I haven't wasted 7 months pursuing a loan that will just never happen.
I applied for a 1% loan for my neighborhood in April, got some paperwork mailed to me and promptly returned it. Didn't hear anything so I called them in early June and the loan officer said she was about to close my offer because they hadn't heard from me so she assumed I wasn't interested anymore. I never got an approval letter in the mail, but she emailed me the information and I immediately started things moving. I had already identified a contractor that I wanted to work with and started sending her the outlined items. Every time I sent something she would ask for one more thing that was needed. Send it in, wait, one more thing, send that in, one more thing. Very annoying, but it's alright, I'll work for it.
Ends up that my contractor doesn't have the special lead certificate that is needed, but HHQ offers to pay for those classes (great!). I set my contractor up for the class and it takes awhile for him to be able to take the course, but he gets it in about a month. I sent that in to her and she immediately responds "your loan has been closed, you can reapply." I called her and she essentially said she hadn't heard from me in a few weeks so she closed the loan. No call, email, nothing. I explain that I was following her last instruction and it takes time - plus I referred my contractor to someone AT HHQ for the class, so I guess I assumed they were aware that it was being pursued?
She said she would look into it, but couldn't promise anything. She emailed me later that day and said she would reopen the loan and get back to me about next steps. That was September 26. I reached out mid-week to see if there is anything else she needs and haven't heard anything. I literally cannot fix my roof and siding without this loan and the weather is starting to turn.
I spent all summer pursuing this because I was approved and assumed it was legit. Is it fake? Am I just kinda screwed? Has anyone had success with their 1% loans?
I really want to learn to dabke, especially the fancy leader style of dabke like Manwa Afandi. Is there anywhere I can learn this in the Syracuse area? Even private instruction? There are umpteen different whitewashed belly dance schools, I'm hoping there's at least one place to learn Shami community dance!
Going to be in town from the 2th-26th, is there anything fun/special happening those days that I shouldn't miss?
Thanks!!
I really want to book couples photos for my boyfriend’s birthday. However, most photographers are out of my price range. Im wondering if there’s anywhere I can book student photographers or just people with less experience. Just looking for someone who’s good with a camera. If you know somewhere where I could find cheaper photos or know someone who would do a good job looking to make some side money let me know. It would probably have to be the week of thanksgiving as I don’t live in Syracuse anymore.
Yes I know metallica tickets are usually higher than most but context matters. I’m guessing they are maybe referring to the new stage design with the video towers.
Taking my son to his first show so I also want to make sure our seats don’t suck but paying near $600 just on tix for 200 level or lower is not in my wheelhouse.
Anyway, I’ve seen hundreds of things at the dome. Last concert I saw there was Pink Floyd in ‘94. I don’t remember anything obstructed but I also don’t really remember anything else from that night either. Welcome to old age.
I need a blow out tomorrow morning Saturday the 5th - any recommendations???? I just moved to town and have a wedding to attend in Rochester on Saturday night. Please help!!
Heyooo It’s my birthday but i am in high spirits right now, but has Middle Ages overcharge you?
I kept my card open for one drink, then decided to close, but I am apparently paying for three drinks? Has this happen to others?
We live in Syracuse and I had a question about the Syracuse airport. My almost 2-year-old is absolutely in love with the airplanes and we are wondering if there’s an observation area or anywhere we would be able to watch the planes within the inside or outside of the airport. I did check the airport website and it looks like there’s a parking area, but it doesn’t say much. Maybe even any good spots locally for air traffic. Thanks!
My daughter and I have to pick a place within 10 miles of Syracuse to take her senior pictures. We want somewhere with trees, does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey all. Looking to see if there’s Spanish classes in the area I can take after work. Boces only has Italian, Arabic and sign language. I’ve been taking them online but wanted to see if there were in person options in our area. Thanks!
Anyone know what was being filmed? Looked pretty cool
I'm seeing Metallica there in April and have seats in the 300 level. And after doing a little more research I've heard some really not great stuff about the dome, is it really that bad?
I despise people waiting on the two right-hand turn lane coming off Harrison st to Almond st/81, especially after they’ve just seen people make a right-hand turn from the left lane.
I’m looking for recommendations for a piano teacher in the east suburbs for my kiddo. Fayetteville, Dewitt, Manlius area ideally.
Hi, does anyone have recommendations for foliage spots and nice views this weekend? I know it's not peak around here yet, but I'd like to stay close and see what I can. I've got two elderly parents visiting and a 2 year old, so a hike won't be happening. I was thinking of driving down from Dewitt to Jamesville and then across a bit on Route 20 until we hit a nice playground. Looking to drive 30-45 minutes, max. We drove out to Cazenovia the last time they visited. We were at Heritage Hill the last couple of weekends. I know, life with a toddler and geriatrics... Thanks for any guidance.
After having a stomach bug for 4 days (and down 4lbs), I am crazy hungry! So, where should I go for all the foods and all the cravings?
Kind of craving smash burgers & fries or maybe an awesome pasta dish. Or something crunchy? Not looking to spend a hundred dollars on a meal though. But looking for a lot of flavor!
ETA: I'm not that familiar with all that Syracuse has to offer.
Very random, but I was wondering what’s the best park or area where could I get pinecones/acorns. I need them for a project. Thanks! 😊
