Handing out candy is my favorite part of halloween. I got 7 kids total. Every year its less. Everyone I know also posted about how they had nearly no trick or treaters. Meanwhile FHD had over 2000, so it's pretty safe to assume where most of them went. I feel bad for the families that stick to their neighborhoods because a lot of people, including myself, aren't going to bother buying candy next year. We're just going to keep our lights off.
Between that street, trunk or treats, and trick or treat maps that dont reflect the actual number of people passing out candy AT ALL. There just isn't any point in trying anymore.

Hello!
I am an SU Newhouse student doing a video on the effects of concrete and infrastructure mismanagement/neglect, focusing on i81 and the broader Syracuse Metro area.
I am curious if y'all know of any places, buildings, landmarks, etc in the immediate Syracuse area that could communicate the unfortunate effects of urban decay, that is striking and tells a story purely visually?
Obviously, I don't want to be that one guy with a camera filming places where people feel uncomfortable/exploited by my presence, so I'd like to avoid that!
My general video is about how concrete lasts only 50 years and how not maintaining critical infrastructure creates rubble, abandonment, and despair. But through that, there is beauty in nature coming back to these post-industrial places and reclaiming what was once there.
Recently bought an older home, good bones but got some minor cosmetic and other things we want done. Immediate needs of installing baseboards and installing about 10ft of wood fence we already have. Dms open and referrals appreciated. Will be continuously looking to improve our property for months to come.
does anybody know any openly LGBTQ+ friendly churches in the syracuse or surrounding syracuse area? thanks!
Honestly, can anyone from any generation remember a more beautiful Halloween Night? Pitch perfect weather, with tons of sweet, polite kids and appreciative parents. Already dying down here in Eastwood, and I'm out of candy, but just feeling really good about the evening.
Grateful for any/all advice!
I’m looking for some recommendations on the best neighborhoods to take my three daughters trick-or-treating this Halloween. We’re hoping to find areas with lots of candy, well-decorated houses, and a family-friendly vibe.
I’ve heard Fayetteville and Manlius might be good spots, but I’m open to other neighborhoods in Syracuse or nearby areas. Ideally, we’d love a place that’s safe, with lots of homes participating and maybe even some over-the-top Halloween decorations. Any specific streets or neighborhoods you’d recommend for a fun and candy-filled night? Thanks in advance! 🎃
Had to edit theblic, didn't realize my coworkers names were extremely visible 🫠
Our family recently rescued Cookie, a 7/8 month old boxer-mix (our vet thinks she’s also part pit) from a high kill shelter in California. We are fostering her in Brooklyn and are working with Jack’s Dog Haven to find her forever home.
Since arriving at our home she’s quickly learned sit, down, stay, and drop it and is working to solidify these skills as she is still young. She walks well on leash, is comfortable in the car, and in her crate (which is located in our bedroom) overnight and during the day. She’s good with kids and takes treats gently. She loves to play with other dogs at the park, but will also ignore dogs if prompted. She likes playing fetch even though she is truly awful at catching/retrieving tennis balls. She’s happy to walk/run for miles, but also loves to sleep on anything soft. While our trainer thinks she may eventually learn to ignore cats, she would do best in a home without cats or other small animals.
Cookie is truly is a wonderful dog who just wants a safe space to sleep and someone to give kisses to. If interested, please feel free to DM me or reach out the Jack’s Dog Haven: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/cookie-73556797/ny/oriskany/jacks-dog-haven-ny1655/
I’m looking to order a special blank for house key to be made online. Where can I bring the blank and my house key to have the copy made? I know some places won’t do it unless you buy the blanks at their location.
For Craft fairs, festivals, outdoor activities, concerts, winter carnivals, etc..
Need a huge favor, reddit friends. The boiler in our 1860s home is on its last legs and we want to switch to propane. We got one estimate and are having a hell of a time getting another estimate, which is frustrating because wr want to move fast before winter hits in earnest. The company we're considering provided this estimate- does it seem reasonable? Our home is 3100 sq ft, baseboard heating currently. We're in the sticks of madison county. I would so appreciate some eyes on this before we pull the trigger. TIA!
so i got a new professional job, now i'm in search of potential places to stay, are their any recommended extended stay hotels/short term apartments that are reasonably priced?

Hello, My fiance and I are looking to get married on april 2025, however I will only be in Syracuse for a week because I work in Alaska. I know this still a little far off but I just want to ask for recommendation for officant that can work with me. I'm not looking for a very ceremonious wedding just probably a place to do it, an officant and probably can accomondate like 7-10 people in total. fell free to message me. Thank you for reading.
Does anyone remember the name of the video/DVD store that was at Carousel in the late 90s/early 2000s (I think?). It was dark inside and made to look like a movie theater? I think it was on the second or top level corner-ish?
can anyone recommend a range where I can zero a long rifle? Preferably 2-300 meters
I am meeting someone in Syracuse, NY and I need a hotel, motel, or a private room, or something for literally a few hours during the day on Saturday November 2nd. Probably after 10 am before 5 pm. No, I'm not renting a room from anybody on reddit unless you happen to work at one of these places and are willing to let me rent a room for a few hours.
I literally only need a bed but the room has to be a private room.
Does anyone else have any suggestions or something I missed?
Absolutely NO overnight, I have to be back in the Rochester area that night anyway and we have to meet in or somewhere around Syracuse.
Edit: No it's not sex work. And hotels have late check-ins as far as I've seen.
Edit 2: Thank you to those who were nice enough to help me out, or guide me in the right direction.
Got one of those huge old Toshiba fax/copier/scanner machines from the late 90s in the office and need to get rid of it ASAP. Is there a local service that could come pick it up?
Was that 2 F35’s that just flew into SYR?
I've been experiencing the worst cell data ever. Full bars and I get almost nothing for data speeds. Can't watch YouTube over 480p and those load slow. Web pages are borderline unusable as half the page won't load or show images cause of low speed. My download and upload speed are so bad that I can't even run a internet speed test.
Does anyone know why there are a ton of marked and unmarked police along 690 today? Is Biden in town. The airways aren't shut down or anything.
