Hi! I was using FatMap for a while but hadn't opened it in quite some time (mostly using it for skiing) and I just realized the it doesn't exist anymore (and Strava doesn't have proper ski maps like fatmap had!). Very frustrated with the changes, could someone point me towards an alternative that may have freeriding maps like fatmap had?
I just did an hour of yoga and Strava knew without any prompting. It had the activity suggested when I opened it. I was wearing my garmin watch, but I didn’t start an activity and I also took it off halfway through. I suppose my phone knows my routines, and while I’ve done some yoga on the same day for a few weeks it’s not always at the same time.
How did it know exactly?
I recently compared activities view from a logged in account on Chrome VS non logged in Anonymous window Session and the results are completely different!
Check them out!
First one is a Logged in Session, and none of the activities visible, gives impression that person is not riding at all.. Second one is from a anonymous browser window with lots of activities
Hello community, how is it possible that some people only have a name without second name on their profile?
Can you tell me the trick? Would be awesome, thanks!
For example, Polar chest strap while listening to music. Thanks in advance!
I'm trying to make a strava club, but when i complete making the club it just sends me back to the orginal screen and the club doesn't appear to be made. please help!
I don't know if this is common knowledge, but I found myself in a Strava routes section that I couldn't find through the website or app except in a pretty roundabout way.
At the bottom of some pages are all the Strava info links which includes Explore - routes
The link takes you to a hiking USA page
https://www.strava.com/routes/hiking/usa
But there's no navigation or search function and I couldn't find another way of getting there via maps or routes etc. Am I missing something?
Buried in there are a lot of the Fatmap routes which you can find by activity and region.
Is this a new feature unfinished or an old dying one?
Cheers Rich
I track every time I get on my bike.
My commute is on there.
Why do I have to go tag every commute. Why can’t their AI see that it’s the same ride, like the current ‘compare similar rides’ feature it already has, but to also notice the repeat times twice a day, and ask if I want it to tag future rides as commutes.
I would really like to auto hide my commutes from my followers so as to not fill their feed. Or in the very least, have them tagged so that followers could say “don’t show friend’s commutes”; wouldn’t that be nice.
THIS would be something helpful for their AI to do. Pattern recognition and action based on that pattern.
While we’re at it, notice e-bike rides too and tag them automatically.
Use the AI to help clean up the mess!
Did anyone else’s DewMe partner integration break? It now says I don’t have any integrations. Between the font change and this I don’t see any positive changes with the new update.
What's the deal with the new font on strava??? Everything is in bold it looks rank. Or have I some how adjusted the settings? Anyway not a fan.
It seems like no matter how terrible and lazy I am it is always saying I did amazingly well and good job. Be a jerk, motivate me!
Has the night heatmap been added to the app? I was looking for it but couldn’t find it.
When the integration between Nike Run Club and Strava went live I started syncing all my runs; however I have hundreds of milked prior to then and would love to get them on Strava. Anyone know if it’s possible besides having to do it manually?
Is anyone else experiencing this? I’ve only done Zwift rides since I’ve noticed this; I haven’t yet had a chance to see if data from Garmin is affected as well.
Not a big deal, since I can find the data in the app. I’m just curious why this would be happening.
In the past, I have had no issues syncing workouts I record on my Apple Watch (with the native fitness app from Apple). And I still have no issues syncing another activity I recorded AFTER the workout I'm having problems with.
I recently ran the NYC Marathon and as with all my runs, I like to record using the Apple Watch fitness app which then records it on to Apple Health. Then on Strava, I would manually upload the workouts I want to do. Now I'm having issues uploading this specific marathon activity. (It was a 4hr+ run) so I'm guessing the file/activity is quite large.
I even managed to upload my cooldown walk to Strava and that went as usual. Just this one that says it's done uploading but it doesn't show up at all.
Any ideas? I have uninstalled the app, restarted my device, unlinked and relinked everything and it is still that one activity that has been unable to sync/upload.
I wanna build an app that connects to Strava. I'm trying the API out in the playground, but when giving it my client id and secret, it only allows me to pick the read scope. The refresh and access token in the "My Application" section also only have this scope.
How can I change the scope to include others? I would need to access activity data.
If there's a specific subreddit for developer questions like these lmk and I'll head over there.
My biggest disappointment as a Strava subscriber is that it does not provide age-graded results. I am 71 years-old and my performance looks piss-poor compared to that of a 40 year-old. Age-graded performance levels the playing field. My time for a 5k run at sea level two weeks ago was 25:52. That is an age-graded performance of 68.3%. I get thrashed by the younger runners at Saturday parkruns but using age grading I am 3rd in a field of 120 runners.
Hi Strava Community. I just noticed a strange behavior that I really can't figure out and can't find a solution for. Now, it would be very interesting to know whether I am the only one with this issue or if someone else can reproduce this one:
I go running often, use Strava since August and typically run with music. In parallel I was thinking about switching from Spotify to Apple Music as it would be much cheaper. So, I startet using Apple Music to find out whether the experience and the music portfolio is something I can live with.
Now, I noticed a strange thing while using Strava on a run while playing music via Apple Music:
Setup: Recording a run on Strava using Apple Watch Ultra. Playing Apple Music using Apple Watch Ultra via AirPods Pro.
Issue: Music plays without any issue. But Strava voice assistance (Audio Cues) don't play on AirPods Pro but just directly via the Watch. If I pause Apple Music, then all Audio Cues are played via AirPods Pro. I would have expected a behavior like the Music is silenced or dimmed-down while the Audio Cues are played and afterwards the Music continues as before.
This behavior is something I know from using the combination of Strava and Spotify before. So it seems to be the combination of Apple Music and Strava that won't work as expected.
Has anyone else noticed that yet? Does anyone else know any workaround or maybe a setting that I just missed?
Whenever I scroll to my feed to give kudos to my friends, I see a lot of garbage rides. I am not being elitist, e.g. I know a girl who is struggling to get into regular cardio and if she does a very short slow ride, she gets my kudos. But if my crazy Polish friend who does ridiculous rides sometimes uploads every single time he rides to the store 500m away from his place, I think giving kudos just devalues my kudos. And recently I see more and more of these since people are starting to record and upload everything they do.
Btw, I personally also record almost everything I do, but I have Strava on private by default and all my commute etc is private. I only mark rides public if I think they are at least a little bit cool.
Is there any strategy to deal with it? Btw, I don't really want to mute people. E.g. my crazy Polish friend from above does 90% garbage rides, but every now and then he does something really cool that I want to see...
Hello, Strava community! Does anyone know how I might get a response from Strava’s tech support here on Reddit?
I’m developing an app that uses Strava login and athlete data to calculate a user’s fitness and form, helping them identify areas for improvement. Currently, it only works for me, as Strava initially grants access to just the developer (a single user). Now, I’d like to test it with friends and gather feedback.
I’ve already submitted the required form to Strava twice, explaining my app’s purpose and providing screenshots. The first response came after a few weeks, and they requested additional screenshots, which I provided. Now, I’m waiting again and am concerned they might reject it once more without a clear explanation.
I’d appreciate any guidance on clarifying this with Strava support, understanding potential issues with my app (I don’t use user data outside of displaying their fitness), and knowing how long it might take to get a response from their team.
Thank you, and I appreciate any advice!
I just ran my godt halfmarathon but sadly my phone ran out of battery with 1km left. I have tried to look everywhere but I can't seem to find any way to fix this or any reasonable solution.
I have also been looking at uploading a run but it doesn't seems very precise. Since I have my total time and all the splits up until 20km I could easily fill out the last split time and maybe even draw a route, but it doesn't seem to be possible either?
The overarching theme here is Strava putting effort into things that nobody is asking for, and sometimes making things worse, instead of working on features or issues that people have actually been asking for. I know this theme is discussed ad nauseam, but my grand hope is that we might actually get some attention on the ridiculous topic at some point.
I found it very curious that the map/routing tool underwent a UX upgrade recently, on both desktop and mobile, despite the previous iteration looking and working mostly fine. Some notes about the recent upgrade: -at first, appeared mostly cosmetic -none of the minor issues with the old UX had been addressed in the process -there’s still a mismatch between functionality available on desktop vs mobile -maybe preference, but I found that the new layout became slightly less intuitive. For example, instead of all map options being neatly accessible in the left-hand toolbox (on desktop), segments and heatmap options are now randomly floating over the map view itself, away from all the other map view options
Anyways, despite the recent upgrade which I found to be pointless at best, and a downgrade at worst, I now have a bug today which I’ve never seen before. I know the picture isn’t super illustrative, but regardless of which direction I’m pointing or walking, my blue icon only points north.
I’m perplexed by the choices in feature backlog prioritization at Strava. How many cumulative hours went into (and are still going into) this map/route upgrade that nobody was asking for, didn’t improve anything or introduce any new features, and has made things worse? As a disappointed paying user, I’m sad that these hours didn’t go into new features, or straight up bug fixes, that people have been asking for, and voting on for years. On another level of general curiosity, what’s the point, from a business perspective? The company just spent some amount of money on an upgrade project which will have no value increase for the business. A slight change in the appearance of the map UX isn’t going to improve retention or attract new customers.
Eight months ago a nice lady rode her bike 136 km/h on the freeway, exited, then smashed some KOMs on my local segments. What happened to the genius-level AI Strava unleashed to flag these impossible achievements?
Hi everyone, as you can see, 10k is the longer distance I've ever run and I'd like to try to run further, but I don't know which is the next distance that will be recorded as a new personal record, I mean, I don't want to run a 15k and not get a time mark for that record. I tried to explain my best since I'm just learning english lol. Have a nice day.
Beginner question: my Kilometre times were 8:01, 7:37, 7:45, 7:24, 7:37 and 6:26 (6 kilometres in total). But Strava said that my 5k PR is a pace of 7:49? How come? Sorry if this has been answered before, I didn’t know how to google this.
