Hello good. I've been looking for information about the problem for a long time and I can't find where I can eradicate the problem. Being from Strava Premium, I mark as favorites the segments that I think are appropriate. These are synchronized with Garmin and the APP sends them to the watch. So far so good.
Once you approach the segment, the watch recognizes the approach and starts correctly. My surprise is that on the screen I only see the elapsed time and the middle line where the progress is seen. Here the problem arises since it does not show me the time gained or lost, nor the different records and in the progress line it remains blocked. I repeat, only time that advances as if it were a stopwatch. The problem doesn't stop here... Once the segment ends, the screen remains active as if you hadn't finished. It can remain active as long as you are in the activity.
This problem has been appearing to me for months, working correctly until then.
Just a bit of background: I tried to 'save' the half marathon achievment (is that what you call them in English) for christmas day. So I clocked in my last long run at 21.08k to avoid getting it early.
My activity on Strava displayed exactly that: 21.08k. However, I still got the achievment for December Half-Marathon.
Received the achievment, despite not running 21.1k
Now this is not the end of the world for me, and I could probably crop the activity, to be less close to the actual half marathon distance. But this was certainly unexpected. I would certainly expect that Strava 'knows' a marathon is 42.195k.
Have you observed a similar problem?
Hello everybody!
It appears that u/Strava may be accepting virtual bike rides that seem to be fake or unrealistic. I have compared my ride on Col du Télégraphe with the top four rides recorded and identified several issues:
My ride is marked in grey
theirs are shown in purple, turquoise, orange, and blue.
It seems as though they all gain three minutes on me at these spots—twice.
My question is whether Strava is aware of this issue or if they simply do not care?
(My ride is just as a reference there. I did this ride during an endurance training session so was not going for some records)
Thank you for your thoughts!
David
I'm attempting to create a small google spreadsheet for some ski-related stats. I have a few segments (and their URLs) I want to monitor that effectively would tell me if these trails have been skied recently or not.
Is there a way where I can list the URL and via the API and google sheets' appsscript to import the date of the most recent segment completion? I don't care about the person's name, how long it took them, any of that. Literally just what was the date it was last completed.
So far, I'm able to automatically grab the segment's name with the API/appscript with the input being the URL, but I'm not sure the rest is possible given strava's privacy policy.
If anyone has a solution, please let me know!
I just wanted to introduce a free tool that some have found useful.
If you've ever recorded an indoor/treadmill on your watch, using the Strava, Samsung app or other, you probably found that the recorded distance was way off.
This is because the app uses the pedometer in your watch to calculate the distance, which is often inaccurate.
Unfortunately Strava does not have a built-in feature to enter the real distance - the one reported by the treadmill, so I created a tool for that. You can just upload your activity file and enter the correct distance (alternatively you can enter a constant speed, which will figure out the distance for you and will also fix the pace chart which is often recorded unevenly).
Try it out and report here if you have any feedback!
I ride around 400km per week and swim 10km open water (usually two sessions of 4–5km). I’ve been tracking this on Strava for about five years, so there’s a lot of data on there that AI could comparatively review to give meaningful assessments.
I really enjoy the AI activity reviews for my rides, but my question is why aren’t there any for my swims?
My technique and open-water times are steadily improving—from around 2:20/100m to 1:50/100m & SWOLF 39 over 5km. That’s taken a lot of hard work (and arguably more effort than cycling, as you can’t coast or take quick rests in swimming—you just have to keep pushing 🏊🥵).
It’d be amazing to get AI reviews of my swims as well. Surely the same AI could analyse my swim data, just like it does for my rides? Why isn’t this available? 🤔
New Apple Watch. Recorded 3 activities on my watch. Noticed today they were not syncing with strava so I set up Apple health to sync with strava.
I assume that will happen tomorrow.
But when I try to import the three previous walks it says no activities detected in last 30 days where they should be listed.
I just moved to a rural town and am working on building up my routes. My town is hilly and sidewalk averse. Most backroads are winding and narrow, and of course people take them fast. There’s also not a huge running community here; thus, the Heat Map feature isn’t great. Other than staking out routes via car ahead of time, any tips on how to build routes that takes vehicle traffic into account? I want to explore my area, but I keep ending up on roads that make me feel less than relaxed.
I manage a club on Strava and post weekly events. When someone leaves a comment on my event the only way I know how to see it and reply is on the website, which to me is insane, considering messaging is now part of the app. Am I missing something?
Hi folks.
I'm really frustrated with using Strava and my phone.
Sometimes it happens that the phone saves my route with some error. It adds some point that is far from my route, or instead of a straight line there is a strange zigzag. When it's a small error, it's not a problem, but often it distorts the whole route.
Do you know of any online site where I can import a gpx file, fix it, and then re-import it to Strava?
Hi there,
Looking to gift an annual membership for my uncle for Christmas, saw that you can get a student account at half price. As I'm a student, does anyone know if I am able to buy and gift a membership at that price or can that only be done at the regular annual price?
My daughter is an avid user of Stava for both cycling and running (she uses it with her iPhone and an old Apple Watch). I want to buy her a gift that works with Strava. I was looking at the Garmin 265S, it's a little out of my budget but I could make it work. Are there any other (or better) hardware devices that I should be considering? Also happy to hear about cheaper compatible items that we could get her in the future since she's been using the app for a couple years now and I don't see her stopping anytime soon.
I click the download request button every 7 days and have not received an email with a link to my data. Support does not reply to my emails. There is nothing wrong with my email address because I keep getting advertising from them.
Since support never answers my questions, does anyone have any idea how I can get my data?
Curious about the company culture, life balance and if there is any upside potential?
Evening all, asking this question because it’s a constant source of frustration for me. In the past 2-3 days I have disconnected/reconnected my accounts probably 10 times to try and fix this. I get maybe 1-2 activities that sync over perfectly and then it just stops working entirely.
If others have this issue and it is something that’s common and hasn’t been fixed I’ll probably just stop wasting my time.
Would be good to hear if others have the same issue
I love to look back at my year and see how I did and the Veloviewer wrapped makes for a nice visual summary.
This year I've been hiking a lot more, does anyone know of a similar page but for walk/hiking?
Have been using Strava for a number of years now, but I've noticed they keep chopping more & more features out of the free version.
So I was wondering if anyone knows of a good free alternative to Strava?
For the record, the features I'd find useful are;
-- Something that tracks other sports would be a bonus as well, e.g. racquet sports/swimming
Thanks
I know you can view trends for things like distance, time, similar route runs… but is there a way to just see how much faster I’ve gotten over a period of time?
Hey in 2023 i can record Strava without internet even with airplane. and after many many updates in Stava i cant record without internet anymore. now i stay in ios 16.6 i forget what ios i stay in 2023. i dont want pay for offline rute. help me
Another premium cancellation here.
The value in Strava is the API being used in third party apps, making that more difficult, killing off fatmaps etc just makes the product offering far worse.
These things all added value to Strava and for free might I add, both for the users and Strava with zero downsides.
Whoever is calling these shots is either really clueless about their product or they're maliciously trying to sabotage it in order to open the door for a competitor.
Either way someone needs to rein that halfwit in.
Hello strava nerds, it has been a few days since I starded searching for a number. How many crowns does the man with the most ones have??? Or Maybe what’s the record for the most in one year?? Is it even possible to fond this type of information? Thank you.
I'm looking to add a workout streak widget to my iPhone, that uses data from Strava (my Garmin already automatically sync data to them, but I don't necessarily want a whole other workout app if I don't need to)
Does anyone have something they enjoy using? I don't necessarily want it to be just running, weights or cycling just include any of my workouts to help motivate me to do at least somethingevery day. Duolingo streaks really motivate me and I'd like to incorporate something like that into my workout regimen 😊
Hi all!
I recently learned that the slopes app integrates with Strava. I'd like to add all my old ski days into Strava if possible. However, every time I connect accounts, it only offers to add my most recent ski day vice all of them. Has anyone figured out a good way around that?
TIA!
P.S. I am using the Android App.
I have my Strava account and my Garmin account. Pretty much every activity over the last 20+ years was recorded on a Garmin device. I thought I was uploading them via Garmin and then syncing with Strava from there.
I am finding a lot of missing activities on Garmin's site (connect.garmin.com) that appear on Strava. In other words, Strava has a very accurate log of my activities while Garmin is missing data.
I'd like to sync both with each other, so that any activities missing on one platform fill in the blanks on the other platform.
Is this possible? If so, how?
Thanks!!!
