I’m sad that I can’t find an another series like Stargate

Sure there are some series that may have similar alien works, space ships, space battles, etc but the thing that sets Stargate apart is its unique storyline. Teasing audiences with beginning of the universe findings , extremely advanced race, travelling to different galaxy and back, anthropological experiments and more

I’ve not been able to find that properly does 1 of the above things. How many “secret alien in your spaceship” series we had but not 1 touching Stargate type stuff. We need Netflix/Prime level budget Stargate revival, please

Maybourne getting death penalty seemed a bit harsh

In the episode where Jack releases Maybourne, he mentions he is getting the death penalty for his treason. From what I know of military law, the death penalty is really only warranted during war time.

Was Maybourne's sentence (potential sentence) too harsh?

Replicators and ancient technology

We know that our favourite lego spiders have a penchant for eating any tech they find and making more. Why didn't we ever see them eating the gates? Or at least the dhds. Both made from materials that can withstand thousands of years if not millions of years of abuse, and to boot can absorb energy and gunfire without much issue. Yes they are a convenient fast travel method but you can't tell me that a few dozen spiders couldn't spoof one if needed. And while the material may be old it's resilience is pretty unbeaten in the sgu.

I know the real answer is script based, but it's interesting that they didn't seem fussed by eating ancient technology

Jesus was an ancient.

He could heal the sick, walk on water.

Definitely an ancient lol... Funny thing is the show never touched Christianity really...

I imagine they never touched modern religion because of the insane backlash it would probably get...

Not many ancient Egyptian fanatical religious folk around lol

And then there was how Adria was born, Vala impregnated by the Ori was very Mary of her!

"Merlin, also known as Myrddin Wyllt, Merlin Caledonensis, or Merlin Sylvestrus lived from about 540 to August 584"

So Merlin we know was an ancient if he came to England from pegasus. So he came through the gate with the other ancients 10,000 years ago when back in time Weir was with them. So if Jesus was an ancient he would have came through the gate with Merlin and co, so in that case the timeline doesn't match...

But Merlin lived in 500s if you go by the texts/scripts apparently 500 years after the death of Christ...

But then that's blown out the water when Jackson becomes host to Merlin and he says he lived 3/4 lifetimes... so the 500s we know was just one of his evolutions.

SG1 often says that the ancients started life in this galaxy...

Then you throw time travel into the mix and we know at least 1 ancient time travelled to the planet Maybourne was on and left a diary of prophecies.

Then you have the ancient board game which McKay and Sheppard played god - so we know they liked doing that with primitive civilisations...

I'm not religious despite being raised a Catholic. But I would much rather believe god was an accended being and Jesus was an ancient lol....

McKay calls Carter an artist, and I think that's when she became his muse.

I actually like earlier McKay and his slow transition to the super scientist of impossible we see in SGA. In the episode where Anubis attacks their gate, Rodney says the title of this post, calling Carter an artist and believing he was just a technical scientist like he was at the piano.

Except I just think Rodney needed a muse, someone to compare to. His early rivalry with Carter was much like his sister, he can't believe others are as smart as him and can have better ideas on occasion. I think it's that competition he has with Carter and finally admitting she's better at some things than him turned her into his personal muse. That's when Rodney became his own form of artist. Rodney starts think like Carter when trying to find solutions, of what might be rather than what is (very much apparent in the SGA episode where he thinks of her for help when he's stuck underwater).

I still agree with McKay that Carter does rely a bit too much on "maybes" when she theorizes ideas and sometimes dismisses a practical idea because she assumes it won't work but has no other options (like Rodney's EMP idea, but she had nothing better to try and it was Jonas gave her the right idea in the end).

So, what do you think of the Carter/McKay relationship?

S5 E3 Ascension what car is Carter driving

Sam has taste in classic cars in this episode. I cannot identify the car but it looks European.

Has SG1 ever dated to a planet at night?

So I realize for filming purposes why they gated planets during that planets day. But I was wondering if there was an episode where they that gated to a planet at night (for the first time).

The first one that comes to mind was when they found the Tollan but their world was having the beginnings of a volcanic winter.

I'm recently obsessed with SG1, just started season 6 and I'm wondering what the best way to watch SG1 with SGA is ?

Is there some sort of guide I can follow to alternate episodes as they were aired or should I just watch SG-1 first and then watch SGA later ?

I've been obsessed for 2 months watching Stargate SG-1 and just found out about SGA and I am so excited.

Don't need opinions on what you think of either show, I'm going to be watching it all I'm just wondering in what order should I watch it.

Thank you !

Was watching the movie again and something struck me. SG-1 Jaffa are pussies.

In the movie, the Jaffa were almost like ghosts. They had some incredible stealth combat training, and were very effective with it, and just terrifying. SG-1 Jaffa are obvious cannon fodder, and it's rather boring if you ask me.
