Its defining characteristic is its "sparkly" guitar parts, which combine the streamlined, jolly twinkles of a band like Braid with the noodly guitar work and lo-fi aesthetic of 90s college rock bands such as Pavement and Archers of Loaf. Their song structures are usually built around a pop-punk base and often include power chords and sing-alongs.
