What's the best restaurant that you've ever been to in South Florida?

We are spending a week (November 5 - 13) in South Florida. My paternal grandmother lives in Boynton Beach. I enjoy eating out at restaurants.

What is one restaurant that is worth eating out? I don't mind Italian, Deli, Seafood, Chinese or Mexican.

Preferably in Palm Beach County, somewhere around Boynton Beach / Delray Beach area. Thanks!

If Florida legalizes marijuana, Florida is probably going to have even more visitors and residents.

I say this based on what took place here in California with marijuana legalization. People from other states started coming here in droves just to smoke that stinky drug. Especially as California is a very large producer of marijuana and has a variety of qualities contributed partly to the year round growing climate we have all over the state. I have met people from Florida and even other countries coming here for both tourism and to smoke marijuana. A lot of these people have been very problematic here in California in regards to buying up limited housing, criminal theft, some new attitudes, crowding of hospitals for physical and mental ailments, and harming the environment with poorly regulated growth and smoking. My position is legalize marijuana in all ways and regulate it where people don’t smoke it literally everywhere or put it in the milk babies drink from.

For Florida, Florida already has loads of tourists and new residents. Many residents even coming from outside the United States. All of Florida including the northern part, also has a climate very suitable for growing marijuana. With this, it is guaranteed business that will take place in Florida along with the illegal businesses already there selling this and the medical marijuana there. Resulting very likely in a new economic shift to the state that happened in California along with a lot if the same things that came to California. Also meaning that if you don’t get rid of Ron DeSantis this time around, you will very likely have a much easier time the following election as the new residents will both outvote the people who came for no covid-19 regulations and also drive them to leave. Then again, a lot of you who complain about tourists and new residents will definitely get even more annoyed by them.

So I ask you Florida from Northern California. Please vote to legalize recreational marijuana. Take some of the burden off of us here in California. Free your state of DeSantis’s nonsense. Make the marijuana lovers of your state happy. Make money off of this. Take a bunch of the annoying people from my state and make them your problem. No. We don’t want them back. That extra money from them isn’t worth it for us and we already have way more than enough anyways. We also save money on housing with them away. They would indeed raise your cost of housing quite a bit and that is already quite an issue in Florida. Also on California money which would increase prices faster. Still though, take them in. Split the burden. We are both beach paradise states that so many want to live in. It is only fair Florida. Do your part.

Are there car shows happening in Palm Beach County during 2nd week of November?

I love old cars and I am going on vacation from November 5 to November 13 to Boynton Beach to see my grandmother.

Are there classic car shows or cruise nights happening in between November 5 and 13. Somewhere around Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, or other areas of Palm Beach County? Not ruling out Fort Lauderdale area.

Thanks!

What is the best used thrift store / bookstore in South Florida?

I'm going to Boynton Beach to visit my paternal grandmother. While I'm primarily coming down to see her, I will be there for a week from November 5-13.

Since I love reading, I was curious to see if there are any bookstores or thrift stores around Palm Beach County area (especially near Boynton or Delray) that actually sell used books.

What are used bookstores or thrift stores in Palm Beach County that sell used books?

Thanks!

P.S. I'm from Connecticut and I like to browse used books

Do the homes on lakes flood?

Flying in to SoFl and the homes on the lake look stunning. When it rains, how often do the homes/pools have water coming? Before I bought my home, I looked at one on a lake but was too afraid of flooding and gators. What's the 411?

Advice for speeding ticket at 17

Just got a ticket for 97 in a 65 from FHP this morning. Im 17. Ticket is just for unlawful speed and not careless driving. And there was no option for reckless driving. It says he paced for 400ft to measure my speed, and I have a court date. I’m thinking about ticket clinic because my friends recommend, but I don’t know anything about this kinda stuff so advice would be appreciated. And I know I’m stupid

Condo HOA and broken elevator

Hey folks, our condo is 4 stories. 2 elevators, both turned off with printer paper signs saying "out of order" taped to the doors. They have been like this for 3 weeks with no communication from the HOA. My aunt is elderly and being released from the hospital, but cannot possible navigating multiple floors of stairs. What are our rights here? Who can we contact for help?

20 week ultrasound for non resident

Hey all, I'm a Floridian living abroad, but will be in south Florida for a few weeks in December. Right in the middle of my trip, I'll be 20 weeks pregnant, and would ideally be getting the 20 wk ultrasound to scan for any potential issues.

I already called my former gynaecologist office but they said they can't do it unless I register as a patient.

Anyone know of a place that can do this for non residents/without needing to formally register? Also any idea of costs would help a lot too. Thanks!

Roofing Quotes/Dilemma

Hi everyone! We live in South Florida and are contemplating replacing our tile roof (3,806sqft.). Our current roof is 18 years old and the flat roof covering the back patio really needs to be replaced. The rest of the roof has about 5-10 years of life left.

We got approved for the My Safe Florida Home grant and have been getting quotes from roofing companies. So far, we’ve gotten 9 quotes. The prices are ranging from $43k-$50k.

Do you think it is worth using the $10k grant from the program and replacing the entire roof or let the grant go and just replace the flat roof?

If we replaced the entire roof, we would absolutely need to finance it. But if our current roof has 5-10 years left, should we even bother to replace the entire thing?

Any thoughts are welcome, thank you!

Hit and run

If anyone finds a gold Toyota Camry with a fucked up front bumper and cracked headlight snap a picture of the damage and license plate please. They hit my parked car in Margate (townhomes of oriole) on the 18th while I was out of town and drove off. Seems like they were attending a party in a nearby building, so they were likely drunk driving too.

Please share!

3 months ago; blotchy skin, hot to the touch

3 months ago, someone posted a picture of their lower legs and feet, stating they were blotchy and hot to the touch. They wanted to know what it was. A lot of people thought it might be cellulitis. I have a different theory! I could well be a chronic, very rare condition called erythromelalgia. I have it and it totally sucks. My legs and feet look similar and are hot to the touch. If you are the OP, or if you remember that post, please research erythromelalgia. I would say, "Go to a doctor, but most doctors have never heard of it, or they've only heard it mentioned in med school. The best you can do is go to a neurologist, with printouts of information about EM (erythromelalgia) and tell them it is caused by a mutation of the SCN9A gene and it keeps the sodium channel open for pain signals to be sent to the brain. IT IS NOT VASCULAR, as many doctors might think. It may LOOK like it might be vascular but it is not. It is neurological. PLEASE DO LOTS OF RESEARCH IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE ERYTHROMELALGIA! Find key words to search, then more key words... go down several rabbit holes. Your research will serve you well in getting diagnosed and taken seriously. This is a very painful condition. There is a high rate of leaving everyone behind because it can be debilitating, depressing, and leaves people feeling there is no hope. Suboxone is the ONE thing that has helped me the most. It dulls the burning pain enough to keep me from the darkest places. OP of the picture, you can reach out to me if you'd like help. Also, join EM FB groups.
