The largest landlocked county in Britain.
A subreddit for those few salopians who seem to have access to the internet.
For those curious - Shropshire is a large, rural and landlocked county in the heart of the UK. Our main claim to fame is the birthplace of Charles Darwin, as well as the modern olympics. Aside from that, the Shropshire hills offer some of the most beautiful landscapes in England.

My grandparents lived in Shropshire all their lives and I remember so clearly as a child this old farmhouse they lived in. It was called Lamsley Cottage and they sold it in/around 2002. I can’t find any record of it so it may have been renamed - I live out of the country now so not looking to visit but I was really curious as to if it was still there and if so.. where? I know it was near Craven Arms in either Bushmoor or Wistanstow. Anyone know where I mean?
I’m looking for some large round wrapped / unwrapped hay bales for my horses for over the coming winter months. We’re just on the border of shropshire near Whitchurch with some stables/fields. Any suggestions would be very helpful!!
I'm looking at moving to Shrewsbury from Telford where I currently work. Which parts of Shrewsbury are best for commuting to work in Telford to best avoid the traffic on the A5?
I’ve recently moved to Shropshire and have been enjoying getting out and exploring. There are some amazing places to eat around here - Csons being one of my favourites. I was just wondering where other people love and if there are any hidden gems you might not find with a google search? Open to all recommendations - nothing is off the table!
Not seen this before 🤩
Basically the doctors I'm with currently, suck. I have chronic illness and chronic pain, and my doctors surgery is both clueless and negligent. They gas light me, lie to me (e.g. tell me tests results are normal when they're actually not), tell me that certain medications, treatments, referrals ect do not exist. Things of that nature along with being very demeaning.
I've heard from other people with chronic pain having similar stories with their GP and I'm looking to try and find a GP that is more understanding of these things, or just act more like they want to help in general. I've heard Stirchley medical practice might be the one to go with but I've only heard this off of one person so I thought I'd ask here just in case there were other disabled people or relatives of disabled people, who could possibly help.
Thanks in advance!
Out hunting Rabbits on my mates farm by the Wrekin. Bagged a strange looking cross between a rabbit and a beaver, about the size of a spaniel.
Anyway, tasted great roasted, very gamey.
i'm talking the size of small dog.
Hi, basically as the title says, I need some recommendations for barber shops (or even hair dressers) specifically in the Telford/Shrewsbury area. If you know any great quality barbers that genuinely listen to what you're requesting and take their time, as opposed to the standard "in and out in 10 minutes" quick money scheme I've experienced recently, please let me know in the comments, thanks :)
Hello! Pretty much what the title says, my wife and I are a couple of big ol lesbians and we have two young children. We currently live in the Oxfordshire area so we’re no strangers to conservative people turning their noses up at us every so often, but we both work remotely and want to live rurally, so Shropshire is on our shortlist. I’m fine with our kids being the only people in their class/school with 2 mums and that sort of thing, but is there anywhere in Shropshire where we’d be met with outright hostility, or, on the other hand, any particularly queer-friendly areas? Before we lived here we lived in very rural Canada, where the local church banded together to make sure their kids didn’t trick or treat at our house on Halloween — just to give you an idea of what I mean when I say “hostility”!
Has anyone lived or is living in Cleobury? Just wanting to know more about the town, living wise. It appears to be positioned very well in relation to large towns and cities, fantastic countryside on your doorstep. So, any catches, bad bits?
Good morning! We’re a young couple with a 2 year old and have realised Birmingham is not a place we want him to grow up in.
We’ve just come across Bridgnorth while looking for houses and have fallen in love and seems too good to be true.
What are some things that someone should know before moving here?
What other areas do you recommend we look at?
Are there any hidden gems?
What are the negatives of living here?
We’re looking to move within the next 2 years. Our budget is around £250k, 3 bed. Ideally we want a scenic village with at least a shop and a pub and be close enough to commute to work, I’m a HGV driver so would want somewhere within 30 mins of industrial areas. I’ve also been looking close to Shrewsbury as some villages I feel we may be priced out of. We want a nice area, community feel, with easy access to walks and countryside without using the car. Any help greatly appreciated.
