Hi, my partner and I are looking to move to Bridgnorth and were wondering whether there were any particular areas to avoid (we don’t want to unknowingly get a house that seems like a good price, but it’s in an area with ‘bad neighbours’ etc…) Obviously we are aware of flood risks near to the river too! Thanks in advance!
is it possible to work in bridgnorth if your from wolverhampton thats 30 mins away
The story:
So, one day whilst walking the dog, I found on a bush attached to a popped balloon, a see through plastic envelope, with a £5 note inside and with what looks like a text note of some kind. Took it home and started to dry it all off straight away without even reading anything. A few minutes later, as most of the moisture was gone, and I started to make out what the text was saying. (still wondering if the font gives out clues of any kind, but if it does, I haven't found it).
The text note gave a description of this, and what to do next. As the text note says, I held it up to a window, but it was day time and so couldn't really see anything. As I sat down, I looked at my desk (black glass top) and put the £5 note down on the desk. Like magic, there it was. An engraving of Cristiano Ronaldo, with other information engraved on it, just like the text note said. It also says to find another £5 note with a certain serial number (that number being: BA30 940069).
This is all from someone under the alias, The Phantom?. (there is a question mark with the name on the text note) has anyone heard or seen anything like this before?? Do you have a £5 note with that serial number? Do you have any idea what to do next?!?
Please ask any questions you have, or if you have any ideas on what to do next. And please spread the word about this, as I'd love to see where this leads.
Update, 17 April 2022: So, update time.... yeah, not really got anywhere with this! Haha! It's been on eBay, and I've just relisted it with a high price to help get noticed and hopefully gain some attention. Still no replies from news media. Still not sure where to go with this. I contacted Graham Short, micro artist, and he said it wasn't him. I believe him, as the style of the drawing doesn't match what he has done in the past.
eBay link to share with someone who may have any info: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403607773522?hash=item5df8e5e152:g:jX4AAOSwQyNhhXEO
I don't know what more to do, but hopefully we can get somewhere soon.
Thanks

So I went and got this game. And I'm very impressed. It's got photos of loads of familiar places at the Pokestops - from my brief drive through town earlier I saw that there were pokestops at the Info sign in the Smithfield car park, the weird manhole cover in the barrier car park, the RC church, the Bear, a few up St Leonard's close, market hall, the cliff railway, the library and more.
The Gyms I've seen so far are at the Town Hall, Castle Hall, the Community Centre in low town, and the Bandon Arms. Not fought them yet as I'm not level 5.
I've just read St Peter's Fair by Ellis Peters, the fourth in the Cadfael series set in Shrewsbury. Bridgnorth gets a mention in this book and I was wondering if there are any others that other locals know about. Also books written by locals, poetry mentioning Bridgnorth, etc.
I've got Iceland Defrosted by Bridgnorth local Ed Hancox, but I don't know of any books which mention Bridgnorth, are set here or anything else. I would guess that later Cadfael books might also mention this lovely town, but aside from them I don't know of anything at all.
On my way to the gym I noticed that there was a police car on the roundabout at the top, by Aldi. On the way back from the gym I got a better look: a police car was blocking Stourbridge road at the roundabout, preventing access out of town, to eg Craven Dunnill, the recycling centre, etc. Cars were being turned around. Didn't see much as I was turning off before the roundabout.
Anyone got any idea what was going on?
What's with the standing stones on the Low Town-Telford Road roundabout? Are they trying to recreate stonehenge or something? How much money have the council spent on getting rid of what was perfectly presentable and putting in these stones, and how many potholes could they have filled in instead with that money?
There's a new Park and Ride service running on Saturdays, with the Park part located up on the old Farmer's Market or around that area, just off the Wenlock Road. It's free at the moment, but will be £2 come June.
Has anyone used it? Is that the best location for it? Is it worth it for those of us living the low town side of the river?
Why does the Cliff Railway have a big problem with the proposed Park and Ride?
The point of a park and ride is to provide more parking for a town while not clogging up the roads in that town. The cliff railway moves people who are already in the town up and down the hill.
Surely the more people who visit the town, the more people will want to go up and down the cliff railway
The only business that should be against it are the owners of the car park behind Whitburn Street
Or am I missing something?
A new coffee shop opened up last month on the High Street. It's got a red brick frontage with grey painted windows. Located on the site formerly occupied by Designer Time - which had a full glass frontage and lots of display space - the frontage has attracted criticism that it is not in-keeping with the character of the high street. What do you reckon?
I figured I might as well create it, in case there's anyone else around here or interested in this lovely town. Hi!
