What game should I buy?

I have around 80 dollars and I don't know what game to buy. I like stuff like stormworks, teardown, brick rigs, and beamng. I also like games like hell let loose, rimworld, derail valley, nuclear option, rdr2 and project zomboid. I do have some games in mind: railroader, UEBS2, pacific drive, manor lords, ready or not, palword, and rust. I do like sports games as well and I am looking for a american football game with a good franchise gamemode because madden 24's franchise gamemode is really stupid. I might buy an old madden just for franchise but idk which one to get so if someone could answer that too that would be awesome.

[PC, PS4] SIB diablo iv for non-endgame content? coming from diablo 2 player

I've played Diablo 2 for 20 years, and i loved the d2r. i primarily played as a summon/pnb necromancer, summon druid, and sorceress. personally, i'm not interested in the end game grind. i'll do the mini grinding like normal countess to get my tal/eth/ral or farming nightmare countess for insight/spirit, but i'm not doing the constant hell farming for getting the best items to use at level 80. I don't need enigma / CTA / etc to play the game. i really enjoy just playing through the game, eg hardcore normal + nightmare and dying in hell mode. and repeat using many different builds.

with that in mind, would diablo 4 be a good fit for me? can i enjoy playing through the game with the necromancer/sorcerer, beat the final boss, then restart? or is this the kind of game you only buy if you want the endgame content?

On a lesser note, is this the kind of game you can figure things out on your own? or do you need to follow a guide the way d2 is? (eg dont use a 2 handed bardiche, fcr/ias calculators, list of runewords, etc)

if diablo 4 is not the best choice for me, what games are a good alternative? grim dawn is on my list, just waiting for it to go on sale at gog.

Can anyone recommend Rain World? $8.74 from $24.99

I know El Blargho (a YouTuber I watch) has played it but I haven’t heard much else about it. Not the biggest fan of survival games but I think the modern Forest/Raft style of survival is what makes me not interested in them. Not a fun gameplay loop. But from the images provided on the steam page it looks very far from that survival style?

Been in a new-game-trying mood since I’m starting to game alone, wondering if Rain World is worth a shot for $9-10

Which of the following games should I buy: Rise of the Ronin, Alan Wake 2, Stellar Blade, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown or Pacific Drive?

Just finishing up FFVII Rebirth and looking for something new to play. All of these games look really interesting and kind of right up my alley. Having a hard time deciding so I’ll go with the game that gets the most upvotes. For reference, some of my favourite games over the last few years are Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Firewatch, Valheim, Slay the Spire, Cyberpunk and Persona 5 Royal

Lies Of P vs. Demon Souls vs. Stellar Blade?

I’ve been playing the soulsborne series and it’s easily become my favorite series of all time. This got me looking at some of the other popular soulslike games. I’m going to play all of these at a point, just wanted to know what I should prioritize. Lies of P is on sale for $40 right now so I was thinking of maybe snagging that. I’ve also played the stellar blade demo and absolutely loved it, although I heard it wasn’t considered a soulslike. What do you guys think? Thanks!

Helldivers 2

I was planning to buy the game before all the drama started happening. Now seeing that’s it’s overwhelmingly negative reviews I don’t know anymore. I don’t mind making a psn account and would only play for solo play. Is the only reason the game has bad reviews because of the new account thing? I would like to know your thoughts

Edit Change my mind about the solo play, I would also play with others

[SIB] Mass Effect Legendary Edition if I don’t like shooters but like RPG’s?

Hi all, so Mass Effect Legendary Edition has a 90% discount right now on Steam which is why I’m looking into getting it.

I was wondering if I would like the game if I don’t like shooters. I don’t enjoy games in which you have to just mindlessly eliminate enemies shooting at them and having to keep track of ammo etc. On the other hand I like games with a great story, characters and role-playing options which I’m told ME has. Would this game be enjoyable to me?

Persona 5R or Yakuza 0,k1,k2

As the title says. I’m looking for good single player experience. I usually do not have much time to play games. I can manage approximately 10 hour weekly and around 1-2hour per session daily. I have never played any turn-basesd games. I love watching anime and I have a sweet spot for Japanese culture and themes. I pretty much love the aesthetics of Persona 5 but I have also heard good things about the story of the Yakuza series. So I am quite lost, which one should I buy?

WSIB: A modern RTS game like World in Conflict

Used to love World in Conflict and Tom Clancy End War. I'm looking for a modern RTS game to play? Any suggestions?

I've been browsing on Steam but couldn't find anything thats out.

I've got my eyes on Broken Arrow and also Homeworld 3 and Ratten Reich, but Broken Arrow doesn't release until late 2024 and I need to satisfy my itch.

RDR2

I've been debating about this for a while. I DO NOT enjoy fighting games because I'm not good at aiming, so I'm wondering if that will like hinder my ability to enjoy this game. I would be buying it mainly for the scenery, some of the storyline, and the big open world system. Also the horses. The horses are really cool. If the combat is decently easy I'll be okay (like Hogwarts Legacy for example) but if it involves aiming... :( Also should I get it on PC or PS5

Upgrade system.

I'm looking for some games that have a really good leveling up system. What I'm specifically looking for are games with either skill trees or upgrades that don't just say "Melee damage is increased by 5%", I'm want something that gives a noticeable difference. Some heads up, please no PC games I only play on console as of right now. Also I know a lot of people love the game Gothic but again no PC, but I did hear it should be getting a PS5 remake so if it's that good and worth it I'll look into buying it one day, whenever that may be.

Help what game should I get next? I only have the ps4 and not lots of money to spend on games

I loved the last of us, rdr 2, all the far cry games but especially 5 (cults are interesting) sniper elite games, what remains of Edith fintch Detroit become human was also fun but the controls got repetitive. Shooting games but with a good storyline is basically what I’m looking for. I’m also a bit picky when it comes to graphics so older games with less high quality graphics are off the table unless they have a unique style. Any suggestions?

Looking for a game like Valheim that I can dump a bunch of hours into.

The games I am interested in so far are Nightingale, Enshrouded, and the upcoming Soulmask. Enshrouded sounds like it has positive reception but Nightingale has received a bit of criticism. I've tried the Soulmask demo but the controls and menu feel really bad with a controller which is a buzzkill for me but I'm sure it will improve overtime.

I would like to know what you guys think and if you have other recommendations.

Any must-buy strategy/tactical games?

So my interest in triple A action games is slowly diminishing and Im starting to appreciate other games as of now.

I recently started a game called Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and it pains me that this game isn’t more well known.

It definitely isnt the best game Ive played but I really enjoy it, it is quite fun.

I’ve also started enjoying Dave the diver, not really a strategy game but it’s amazing.

I just love strategy and using tactics in videogames.

BG3 was quite good but I hate turn based games and it honestly wasn’t that complex.

Whilst I LOVE Hitman trilogy I wouldn’t want anything similar to it as of now since that game was beatable just doing random shit and going guns blazing.

But Shadow Tactics, it is quite hard tbh but I like it when it is quite difficult, requires me to think.

Anything similar?

Im currently looking at Civ 6 but it seems too complex, something basic like Shadow Tactics would be perfect.

AC 3 (Remastered) vs Ghost of Tsushima (directors cut) vs HITMAN (WoA)

For context, I don't really play RPGs, but i've loved what I've played from the Assasins Creed Games (AC2 - AC Syndicate, with the exception of AC 3. At the moment I'm more of a casual gamer, trying to not get into heavy grinding games and love replayability a lot.

Here are my cases for each of the games:

Assasins Creed 3 is, beside the original AC, the only mainline titel prior to the rpg series and mirage i haven't yet played, and I haven't really seen much that indicates that it might be a bad game.

I've heard lits of good things about Ghost of Tsushima, often in comparison to the classic AC titles, and i watched a bit of gameplay, and it looked pretty fun, though I'm not sure if it won't just turn too grindy after the early game.

Hitman World of Assasination is very different from the other two games, which might be fun as a breath of fresh air, and i loved sandbox assasination missions in ACU and ACS. I've seen trailer and a little gameplay, and I think something set in the modern day would be something else for once, as well as having the option to replay everything in very different ways.

So what do you guys think? Which one of these games should I buy (first :) )?

Really need help deciding my next game

As the titles says. I’m looking for a great solo player experience that has a good story, good lore and can sink hours into it.

Any genre is welcome.

Games I’ve played and enjoyed:

RDR2, God of War, AC (all of them), Elden Ring, Shadow of Mordor/War, GTA 5, Call of Duty, Skyrim, Kingdom Come Deliverance.

I couldn’t get on with Fallout 4 due to the performance limitations on it (locked at 60fps etc). Also, found Life of P a bit too difficult to start with. Wasn’t a massive fan of Divinity Original Sin as I am not a fan of turn based, top down games.

I also find city builders and similar games a bit boring such as City Skylines and Crusader Kings.

I’ve got a beefy PC so performance restrictions aren’t a problem.

Any help or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Games like KinitoPET?

Are there any games like KinitoPET? Like with AI or the same psychological horror the game feels like? I've heard of the Buddy Simulator but never played it. I also know of Suck Up, but also never played it. I know there may not be much, but I'd love to hear anyone else's opinion on some suggestions.

Rec. for campaign-focused, single-player games

Looking for recommendations for a SP-focused game to play. I just played Minishoot' Adventures and absolutely loved it. 100%'d it in 2-3 days, haha, so I'm looking for the next thing. I've been playing a ton of roguelites and traditional roguelikes lately, so I think I'm just looking for some things to pick up, play, and finish. I've played most of the usual suspects in the more wide-reaching spaces, so something maybe slightly off the beaten path would be good. Maybe something old school, or a twist on something old school such as Minishoot. I like all kinds of stuff, but to give some ideas, the last few things I finished recently were Minishoot' Adventures, Turbo Overkill, Blasphemous 2, PoP: The Lost Crown, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, and El Paso Elsewhere. Whatcha got?

Persona 5 or Cuphead

I'm planning to buy a new switch game but I'm torn between persona 5 royal or cuphead with dlc, which one should I pick? My preferences are a long game, story, fast pace gameplay, great visuals, and the world itself, which one do you guys think is more worth it considering their prices and which one do you guys I'll stick to playing longer?

WSIB if I want to test out my new rig?

I've looked for recommendations of current stunning, graphically intensive experiences on PC but either the lists are outdated or nothing of note has come out for six years.

I've played the likes of RDR2 and the Witcher 3 and don't see how such old games could possibly be the benchmark ao I basically want something from the past year or two.

I have already played Baldur's Gate 3 on my old pc so i do intend playing through that again without it looking like a PS3 game but for my first experience on the closest I've ever been to owning a top of the range machine I want to play something new. Any genre is fine except horror would probably be a waste because I am a wimp lol

Should I play Against the storm, Darkest Dungeon 2, Stellaris, AO4 or X-com 2 ?

Hi folks,

I am looking for strategy game to sink about 6h per week.

The criteria for me are:

  • Both strategy & tactical elements
  • A good feedback loop (aka I can understand what I do wrong during a run to then improve the following run)
  • Mainly solo

I don't consider myself an expert in strategy games. I have narrowed it down to these 5 games:

  • Against the Storm
  • Darkest Dungeon 2
  • Stellaris
  • Xcom 2
  • AOE 4

Would love to hear your recommendation.

Thanks a lot!

EDIT: thanks for the comments, I think I'll try Against the Storm & Xcom 2.

Roguelikes for a long flight

In a few weeks, I have a 15 hour long flight to Japan and looking to get set up with some roguelikes to keep me occupied and great for killing time.

Some roguelikes I have that I enjoy:

  • Spelunky 2

  • Balatro - (REALLY enjoy this game, although I have clocked like 60 hours in a week or so, so kind of burned out from it atm😂)

  • Vampire Survivors

  • Slay the Spire

  • Binding of Isaac

Worth noting that the game NEEDS to be able to run on a shitty work laptop, so even games that are generally quite easy to run on most PCs like Risk of Rain 2, won't be any good for me.

Thanks in for any suggestions, please help out a soon-to-be bored man on a flight🙏

Passing on a bunch of reccs for early to mid 90's computer horror adventure. Let's check em out!

I just finished It Came From The Desert 2: Antheads on Amiga, and I can't tell you if it's either an amazing, or one of the best computer horror adventure games I've ever gone through. I asked someone on twitch who absolutely thrives on 90's computer games, and they gave me a ton of reccs, and I figured that I'd pass them along as well.

Keep in mind that most of these are blind reccs, but they're from someone that really knows this era.

Shadow of the Comet(Lovecraftian Horror.)

Alone In the Dark Trilogy(I've gone through these, they're so damn good!)

Realms of The Haunting

Timegate: Knights Chase

Jungle of Doom

Daughter of Serpents(lovecraftian horror)

Goosebumps: Escape From Horrorland(This is the first computer game I ever beat. Very easy to recommend if you can deal with a little cheese, but not too much.)

Hugo's House of Horrors, Hugo 2: Whodunnit, Hugo 3

Last Half of Darkness(If I understand correctly this is a Trilogy too)

And I wanna give an honorable mention to The Land. It's a fantasy RPG from the same dev behind The Hugo Trilogy, and Last Half of Darkness.

Most of these will run on Dos from what I understand as well.

[WSIB] Games with randomized exploration like Minecraft, NMS or Valheim?

Hey!

I've lately thought about what kind of games I like, and why I can't get into certain games. And after some backtracking on games I've played for hundreds of hours, I've noticed that I love randomized games with building elements and customization.

I love exploring endless, randomly generated world and looking for "perfect" places, places that are cozy, have some kind of rare element to them or cool places in general. Something about it makes me never want to stop exploring. E.g in Minecraft and Valheim, I spent sooo many hours just generating world seeds trying to find rare biome generations to settle on. Same in Valheim.

I've played the following games with such elements:

  • Vintage Story

  • Minecraft

  • No Man's Sky

  • Terraria

Would love more recommendations!

I'm not that into ARPG's because I find the gear grind so confusing, I never really understood what gear to keep and just found myself overwhelmed with all loot.

Thank you!

The Witcher 3 or bloodbourne

I know they are both old but I haven't played them yet and they are each on sale the Witcher 3 goty edition or bloodbourne with is better ?

I've heard nice things about both, can someone break it down which so I go for. I think the Witcher 3 is praised for its nice story and open world but bad combat why bloodborne is praised for its incredible and addictive combat but I heard is also very repetitive
