We've arrived at the final moments! (We aren't done yet, though!) That absolutely heartwarming and heart-wrenching scene, where Satsuki saves Ryuuko from her fall. Again, the expression on both of their faces is just incredible. The relief, but only after a painful grief and despair. How utterly exhausted they both look. Ryuuko has just lost another father. But she gains a sister. Real family. And of course, always has Mako, too! The tenderness of those expressions while still seeming so fatigued is just pure gold. It's such a powerful moment. Then, we go right into the ending, and that is a wonderful smile to see! Such fantastic work!

More of the falling sequence! And some wonderful raw frames by Nishigori focusing on her expressions. I talked yesterday about how incredible the emotions he draws are. This is another shining example. From calm sadness to shock. It's such a huge transition! Another
amazing set of frames. Can't get enough of this intricate facial expression work. I've always been very interested in them and practice on my own work. It's my favorite part of drawing a character. :) Ugh, got blocked and had to do a link today.

Some more raw frames from the end of Kill La Kill. Just look at the intricate expression in that first illustration! When I first saw this one, I was absolutely drawn to it. It is so perfect. Her expression of grief says everything without words. I showed it to my mom, actually, lol! And she has never seen Kill La Kill. She knows all about it and is planning to watch it soon, actually! Anyway, she took a look at Ryuuko's face here and was able to see the regret mixed with grief without ever knowing the story. To convey such a powerful emotion like this is master talent. The sheer artistry of that frame seriously astounds me. The lines near her eyebrows! The slight scrunch of her face! Just wow. Applause, Nishigori. 

The rest are also pretty awesome, but that first one is on another level. One of my favorite frames.

A mixed bag of artists for our catch up post! That first illustration is one of my favorite raw frames! Absolutely stunning piece of work by Imaishi. One of the coolest Kill La Kill art in general. Love it! And then we move into the scene where Ryuuko is crying and falling back down to Earth. I'll tag this post, just to be safe. Sushio is just the best at expressions, I really feel Ryuuko in that last one!

A lovely Mixed bag of artists today. And a full view of the Kisaragi! Absolutely love that first illustration, and the second is totally a classic. Yoshinari never fails to have cool poses and excellent angles to draw at. You can almost always immediately spot his work by the shift in detail! I always check who directed the scene and who did the Genga, so we know who worked on what. :) I love to see the different stylistic choices each do but still have it be cohesive!

I like being able to peek at stuff we don't normally see! :) Plus, that first illustration is still boss, with Kisaragi active! Even if it is a tiny little sketch.

Fingers crossed that Reddit finally accepts my posts again and we are back to normal. Anyway! Some really cool and direct sketches of Ryuuko, looking dead into the camera. Love it! There is nothing more awesome than Kisaragi, if you ask me! A perfect climactic event to end the series. This first sequence is so cool as it goes to the shot of Senketsu expanding.

More of the detail from the Kisaragi transformation! And I'm sure everyone wanted to see a bit more, haha. In an interview, Sushio mentioned being very flustered and embarrassed that he had to be the one to work on the transformation scenes, because he is a very modest guy, and he had to spend hours and hours animating these. Everyone praised him for his amazing work, but he still feels bashful whenever anyone brings up what a beautiful job that he did. I can understand! It's definitely weird when you get to the point where it's time to draw the character's bits, lol. I just love that story, because we don't think about how the animators feel while we watch.
