My dads first pistol was an SR9...if they brought it back without all the overbearing safety features I think it'd be a home run in the 450-550 price range. The security 9 is too small/not the same.
Hello all. This is my first Redhawk. Got it in trade from my BIL. Looks to be 1989 production by the serial #. Here are some pics/vids. Let me know your thoughts on this firearm and what would an approx value be on it as well? I can’t seem to find an older (1980’s) cardboard box comparison
I’m looking to buy an American gen 2 ranch rifle in 556. Mainly because I have a surplus of 556 ammo and don’t want to have to buy new/different ammo. Anyway for those of you who own a Gen 2 how is it? Would you recommend it? Thanks in advance. Also would you recommend a decent scope for a reasonable price.
I'm looking to get a .300 blackout upper for my MPR but all the uppers I've looked at say for mil spec lowers only. I was wondering if someone knew if the lower was mil spec or if it really matters too much. just wanna know if it'll even work before spending money on a upper
Just picked up a gen 1 lcp used, and im curious about if it has a magazine disconnect everything works like normal when I rack the slide but if I squeeze the trigger without racking it the hammer won't move is this normal?
I did a web search to no avail. Has anyone found something like this similar to an AR type setup?
I’m planning to switch to a Sec 9. Two questions:
Some background: In 2012-13, I bought a Taurus 24/7 .45 standard size for the house and an original LC9 (hammer fired, loaded round indicator on top) for CCW. I fell in love with the LC9 look and feel. I rarely got a chance to shoot either until very recently. The LC9 mostly stays in my daily carry bag or IWC holster. Very comfortable.
I took it out last week to a private range near where I just moved. I realized I really liked the full sized grip of my Taurus, but the awesomeness of my Ruger. Enter the Sec 9.
I went to my local gun store and held a Sec 9 and I was immediately in love. Like angels sang. I even did some dry fire drills with my LC9 right before so I could compare the grip feeling.
I’m considering selling a pocket 380 I inherited (that I really don’t like shooting) to offset the Sec 9 purchase and moving the LC9 to a truck gun.
Like the title says!
I'm in the market for my first rifle, and am close to pulling the trigger on Ruger's Scout Rifle (the model 6822), favoring the 18.7" over the 16.1" barrel both to get it in stainless, and that I've heard that the flash and bang out of a 16" with .308 is a little much due to the .308's powder not fully burning in a barrel that short.
I love the scout rifle for a bunch of reasons, one of which is maneuverability/portability. I do not love the look of the included flash suppressor and would prefer to pop it off just to shorten the gun and make it easier to carry in the woods. My question is, in a barrel of that length, how much of a difference would that make, practically? I've shot rifles plenty before, but at the range and in broad daylight. I'm not sure just how distracting I can expect the flash (both suppressed and not) to be in twilight or nighttime conditions. I mean, it's a bolt action so it's not like I'll be rapid firing, but as someone who hasn't really done any field shooting I'm not sure just how long-lasting temporary blindness from the flash really is.
Basic question -- if I buy this planning to remove the FS immediately, am I likely to regret it? Or is it less of a big deal with an 18.7" barrel?
Hey everyone, for those it effects you will have already seen the facelift r/ruger got on old reddit.
Let me know if anything is broken or missing and I'll get that corrected ASAP.
Thanks!
What foregrips/handstops are people running on their PC charger? Tried a BCM kag, ESD enhanced foregrip and now have an arisaka VFG. Didn't care for the first two and not really a fan of this VFG. Looking for suggestions from experience if anyone has some. My charger is a stamped SBR so VFGs are on the table.
Last night I bought online the AR 556, 10 round edition to save a little money because I will just buy 30 round mags. But I noticed this morning that with this version the barrel is unthreaded as well. So would I be able to purchase a new barrel that is threaded and replace the stock one? (New to this).
Brand new Ruger Mark IV Competition came with two factory magazines. Neither magazine will load more than 5 rounds, the 6th and any subsequent rounds will quickly shoot out of the magazine, as if the feed lips aren't in spec. This of course causes cycling problems when firing as well. I ordered two additional factory magazines, and they both have the same problem 😭.
Could this be an ammo problem? Using CCI Copper-plated Round Nose, standard velocity.
Provided I have a pistol permit?
Went to the range today. Fired my Ec9s. It was fully taken apart about a week ago (cleaned and lubed. I even did the mags. Both Ruger brand). Quite a few times today I was having failures to eject turning into a stovepipe. I was able to clear the malfunctions by removing the mag and racking the slide. As soon as the mag dropped. The next round to be chambered flew out with the mag and I had to shake the spent brass out. Is this a common issue anyone else has been having? This is usually my everyday carry. But after today I’m switching back to my glock. This is the first time I’ve had this issue with the mags. I was shooting blazer brass 115g.
