The clip of Lynch giving Smilie marking advice is so good
If they can absorb even a little from Lynch, will make huge strides
I’d say that Miller is a bit stiff and Lefau to come push for Bauers spot once he’s back. But otherwise think this line up will do alright.
Look, great draft haul.
BUT it all just seems too good to be true. and when its too good to be true it almost never works out the way you want it.
There has been many times teams have had great draft hauls, only for most to end up busts
Us in 2004:
Brett Deledio
Richard Tambling
Danny Meyer
Dean Polo
Luke Mcguane
The only hit in that crop was Deledio, the rest busts
Melbourne in 2009
Tom Scully
Jack Trengrove
Jordan Gysberts
Luke Tapscott
Max Gawn
Jack Fitzpatrick
At the time this seemed like a DREAM draft haul for Melbourne, but the only one who ended up becoming any good for them was Gawn.
Good teams rarely build on the back of one draft.

Plenty of numbers are up for grabs next season for the Rookies! Who do you think should take each one?
Can see a few of our other players opting to switch numbers like Bauer and Blight.
Here’s the list of available numbers from 1-35:
#2 #4 #6 #7 #8 #9 #11 #12 #16 #17 #24 #26 #29 #34
My Preference:
#2 Luke Trainor #4 Sam Lalor #6 Seth Campbell #7 #8 Harry Armstrong #9 Josh Smille #11 #12 Jonty Faull #16 Jacob Bauer #17 #24 Jacob Blight #26 #29 #34
I know it’s very early days still, but what do we think our Round 1 lineup looks? And who from the draft gets a crack under the Thursday night lights next March?
I personally like Lalor and Smillie to debut, possibly one of the talls like Armstrong even.
Honestly couldn’t care less about how many wins we get next year, I just care about giving the kids 15-20 games under their belt and some exposure. Very exciting times ahead with a perfect blend of older and younger players. I genuinely think in 3-5 years we will have one of the best lists in the comp.
Blighty's coming for that 2nd key defender spot
It was definitely a Dimma thing to make the cubs earn their numbers, so what do we reckon they'll do?
I'd feel a bit uncomfy about not even giving the number 4 a year off... But maybe Smilie can go straight into 9?
Is moving Trezise to a new number and giving Lalor number 36 with the expectation of going into 4 too much pressure?
Am I giving this too much thought? Probably.
“Richmond will hopefully soon stop patting itself on the back over the decisions it made to off-load in-contract star players in return for access to a heap of high-end kids in the national draft.”
Pardon?
Richmond have been fairly modest for mine, have taken time to credit the departing players, and duly went about their business smashing the draft while dealing with CT’s illness at the same time.
ALL of the pats on the back have come from the media. Not purple obviously.
My Mum and I were watching and she said that the woman looked like her and it did
Spotted this legend at tonight's gig. He's here with Bob Murphy.
