Just picked up this bad boy today. I know obviously use gun oil on the metal parts, but i was curious if there was anything I could do to preserve the wood? The wood has no cracks so I’d like to keep it in good shape. Is there some sort of oil or wax I should apply? Thanks!
I’m asking for a friend who’s starting a mid war WW1 German uniform. Does anyone know if HistoryBunker.com’s uniforms are accurate or a decent quality? I’ve seen them online before but I’ve never heard anyone talk about them. He lives in Australia and is looking for a site that ships there and this site was one that I found who does
I picked up a lot of old Mauser rifles from an auction, most of them black powder (my addiction). Specifically there was a 71 carbine and 71/84 I am most excited about - both made in Danzig. After some elbow grease I got them in working order and now I'm looking to make up the uniform(s) to go with these - I'm assuming that being from the Danzig factory it would make the most sense to pick a Prussian regiment.
(I acquired a Snider-Enfield early last year and had a ton of fun making a Scottish RVC uniform from upcycled surplus and love doing proper historical shooting in full kit)
I'm hoping that, besides maybe the tunic and a few accoutrements or something, I could make a dual-purpose uniform that I could use to represent both a dragoon and an infantryman from the period (more or less post Franco-Prussian, pre-1888). Any advice would be appreciated, I don't have much experience with kit from outside the Anglosphere. Thanks!
Edit: Specified a dragoon regiment rather than generic cavalry as that's what my Carbine is marked to.
I am currently 17 but in search of a Reenactment group to join when I turn 18 next year. As the did says does anyone know any good UK based british reenactment groups (preferably near the west midlands)? I have contacted one group on facebook (The Welsh Tommies) I am just waiting for them to respond. I will also take Home Guard groups but preferably ones near WM and ones that portray groups that saw frontline combat. Thanks.
P.S. It's favourable they have a social media I can contact them on whether it be Facebook or Instagram.
I have tons of ww2 impressions and a vietnam usmc impression and am thinking about getting an impression from another war so can you guys give me ideas or what impressions your working on
I'm going to be traveling to Los Angeles, California in the next few days. Could you tell me if there are any stores in the city that sell items for 19th century reenactors?
Should I get a Bandolier from At the Front or Stand in the Door 1944?
Been trying my luck for ages with getting an actual M33 helmet but have had no luck thus far with what's available - lot of damaged examples going for silly prices, etc - so I'm looking to try and get myself maybe a refurbished reproduction or a straight up full-on repro.
Question is - are there any?
I've checked on "Lo Stile Degli Eroi" and while they've got what I'm after I'm always just a touch too slow to get them when they're on sale. Would there be anywhere else that does them?
Hello all!
This is mainly addressed to the admis, although I would enjoy anyone's opinions on this.
Could we please add a pinned post answering to the most common questions? Or at the very least add some sort of guide as to how create posts in this community?
Example:
"How do I start reenacting?" - it's a very frequent question that has been answered a thousand times over. The answer will always be roughly the same, so why not just create a pinned post about it?
"What seller is best for my kit?" - again, the same story. Help us help you, list all of the details of your impression and then we can help you.
Don't get me wrong, it's brilliant that new people are joining the hobby and they turn to here for advice, but wouldn't it be better if we didn't need to beat the same dead horse over and over?
Let me know what you think about it!
I’ve watched Videos and it looks absolutely Great but I dont know how I get to the Right people and also of what age I can start going to Events and stuff can someone Help me?
I am looking for either a replica SMLE or Rifle No.4 mk.1. Most of the SMLEs are Denix ones and I am looking for one that can dry fire and also take replica (inert) ammunition. But I cannot seem to find any good ones for a reasonable price from UK sellers. Anyone know where I can get one?
Can anyone tell me where to get a wool field shirt? What Price Glory has a cotton one, but I’m not sure how accurate it would be. As I understand, the WWI field shirt should be wool. My tunic and breeches will be here next week, so the next purchase will be a field shirt.
For obvious reasons they have to be inert but preferablly have a removeable pin and safety spring but not explosion. Anyone know where I can get some good ones for a reasonable price?
I was told there was an 82 airborne reenacting unit near Gettysburg pa. Does anyone know what their Facebook is?
I will be honest first… im fat i have belly not obese but like beer belly. So im wondering how could i wear belt around waist (without straps). Im quite tall so straps are hard to find and expensive.
I'm currently in the process of making my late '44/early '45 US Army impression but, after getting screwed by my local supplier and learning how untrustworthy QMI is, I'm looking for a European seller to buy the stuff I need from. For now, all I need is an M43 Jacket, M43 boots and maybe an M1 sling. Anyone got some good recommendations?
