1. Be Respectful
Be respectful, bullying doesn't get you anywhere.
2. NSFW Content
You MUST mark ALL NSFW content as such.
3. No Contemporary Politics
While repercussions of the First World War are being felt today, there's little reason to discuss contemporary politics, unless they have a direct relation to the war.
4. No Bigotry
Hate speech or racism is an instant ban.
5. Impressions must be WW1
Impressions must fit within the 1914-1919 time frame. 1919 is chosen as the cutoff date to include the Siberian Expedition, which many scholars have decided is a continuation from the Great War.
Not to say anything outside of WW1 isn't cool, just gotta keep it focused.
6. No Impression is better than another
You're not cooler than someone because you do the White Russians and do the Reds. All impressions have equal merit.
7. Ask for permission before critiquing
We are all learning here! This is what is here to help! Before critiquing someone, ensure to ask permission. They maybe well aware they're wearing the wrong boots! Just be nice and ask, most people are more than happy to accept help or criticism
NOT BEING 'DIRTY ENOUGH' ISN'T A CRITIQUE
8. Do your research!
While this subreddit is here to help, it's not here to spoonfeed information. Questions like "what rifle did the Canada use in WW1" will be removed, as it can be found with simple googling. Instead a more acceptable question would be "why didn't Canada use the SMLE at the start of WW1?"
9. Have proper evidence
If you say something was done, and someone says it wasn't, have evidence to prove it! This can be photos, paintings, documents, interviews, etc. Unfortunately, word of mouth isn't good enough.

I’m looking for recommendations for vendors for British Commonwealth uniforms and boots. I have everything else gear and rifle wise. I’d prefer to deal with vendors stateside if possible.
Does anyone know where to find a cheap WW1 Italian uniform or mess tin cover
Title says it all.
Ideally, I would buy an original shell, but, unfortunately, my head is far too large, and size 68 originals are damn near impossible to come by, and even rarer at a fair price.
So, I will have to settle for a repro, either M16 or M17 (Whichever is better) that can be shipped to my location in South Africa.
I've heard some good things about IMA's, but I wanna get some more opinions before making my final decision.
Thank you in advance!
I'm 11 and trying to put together a doughboy impression but can't find a uniform that'll fit. Can anyone help?
I'm 11, almost 12, and I want to do an IMPRESSION not start reenacting so don't say "You're to young to start reenacting." , as an excuse to give no advice. But anyway I want to do a US WW1 impression but I don't want to buy an expensive, 100% accurate uniform and have to buy another in a year so, would
"https://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/childrens-british-ww1-sd-trousers.html" work for my pants and
"https://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/childrens-british-ww1-sd-tunic.html" as my jacket or would they be too farby?
Note I would have accurate insignia and gear.
looking for advice for a memorial for a Marine vet of the Battle of Okinawa
I’m trying to make a FFL impression from ww1 but I don’t really know what they wore besides the white kepi so I have come here to get answers.
I have been wanting to get into reenacting for a while now, but I am having terrible luck finding a group or someone I can reach out to.
I live in Utah, and have been trying to find information about groups somewhat near me or on the west coast. The most I can find is about the Great War Historical Society, but their website is not working anymore and I can't find any recent information about them.
I don't think they decided to stop, but I am also not sure where else to look. Any help I can get would be fantastic!
Austria-Hungary /Austro-hungarian uniforms with focus on alpine officers
Hi all! Recently, I've been trying to figure out what strategy I should implement to keep my pesky chinstrap from falling off my stahlhelm and am wondering if anyone can offer some good solutions. Good to see everyone again!
Please check it out and tell me what you think!

Still working on it. It's a early war mostly but I'm trying to get early and late done. I have the rifle(m.95 Mannlicher) and some new stuff on the way from the Czech Republic.
I am a woman but I love the history of WW1 and WW2. I think they are pretty cool and interesting. I want to get into it but I know in some re-enactments woman are usually nurses. Is it possible that I could play as a soldier too. I would love to get into some trench warfare.
Also I have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes since I was 7 years old. It is permanent and does not have any known cause, will I be able to bring my electronic devices that help me control it. I have a pump that gives me insulin and a Continuous Glucose Monitor that tracks my sugar so I won’t go low enough to were I will have a seizure.
I'm new to this subreddit, but ever since I was 9 or 10 I have been watching YouTube videos of reenactments and trying to get into the hobby since I was 15. (I'm 17 now.)
I know with the stuff going on right now it'll be hard to attend any events this year, but I'd like to join a unit or find one to think about or something.
Does anyone know of any German reenactment units inside of North Carolina that I could join? And how to get the equipment in an affordable manner?
So a long time ago before I got into reenacting I remember hearing another ww1 German mention that it was common for soldiers to write home and receive large kitchen knives in the mail. Does anyone know if there’s any truth to that? Thanks in advance!
Salutations all I've been working on getting an Belgian WWI Uniform together, 2 actually. One would be of an regular infantry soldier, and the other would be of a corporal, both from the late WWI period where they would be having the Kahki Uniform. Now I've been looking high and low for a reproduction WWI Belgian Officer's cap, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I did find some pictures on how it should look whihc i've included here

Could anyone of you help me find a store that sells one, or point me to someone who could make me such a cap? it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I'm looking for a website that sells cheap uniforms and gear. I'm just getting into reenactment and im looking for good quality German uniforms. I'm kinda short on cash so i need your help
Hey all, i’ve just gotten into World war 1 uniforms and reenacting. Im a big history buff and im really interested. Since I am under a budget, I am trying to make my French uniform, and buy the webbing and ammunition pouches. I cannot seem to find any patterns for the French overcoat/greatcoat that was used throughout the war. I am thinking about trying to convert a pattern of a similar double breasted coat, but does anyone have a pattern for a French overcoat?
Best, Yuunkers
Hey guys I’m really interested in re-enacting but I don’t know where to start. I’m currently not in a reenactment group but I would want to reenact as an American combat medic So my questions are,
Thanks in advance and sorry this might be worded correctly.
anyone going to the GWA Fall event this year?
Does anyone have any websites they use for buy gear online.
I recently outgrew my size 13 (US) service shoes I am looking for a size 14 or 15 boot or shoe that is reasonably priced and accurate
Do you use fireworks, CO2 cannons or what?
I was planning on attending, sadly my car has gotten in the way of that. If you are going, make sure to share AARs and if you manage to get some pics or videos and don't mind sharing them on reddit I'm sure we'd love to see them here!
I was looking for some help on coloring for WWI era US M1917 helmets. I have a few shells i'm going to refinish and I'd like to use for re-enacting and I'm unsure of the color to paint them. I've looked at a bunch of original helmets and it seems like there are tons of color variants from brown to khaki to OD green.
