Local man with an idea

Hey guys,

Could I possibly ask my City folk to help test out a platform I have made.

I'm a handyman, I love problem solving.

Have been seeing theft and break and enters going up and after some thought, I came up with a possible answer..

Its a platform for creating Private surveillance networks between friends and neighbours.

It's something that I think will genuinely help the community and solve a few big issues faced by all. For this reason, I think it should be FREE FOR EVERYONE..

I'm just a one man team. I live eight mile plains and work near the Gabba. Would love some feedback.

It's not released yet released but can be tested out out a different domain to the one it will eventually be at.

Can I ask if admin will allow this?

Cheers

Cheap Plant Starters!

I am a young Brisbane gardener who has though of an idea to make a lil money while doing the thing I love! I will be growing and nurturing plants from seed and selling them once they have reached the point they are strong for easy repotting and use for many seasons! I haven’t fully thought of everything but will if I get a lot of interest. So far I am thinking between $3 to $7 for different types of plants, but this is possible to change. Let me know in my dms or in the comments for interest or any questions. I look forward to hearing from you guys!!

Unethical real estate agent

Hey all Just wondering if anyone has had the unfortunate experience of being treated terribly by an owner of a real estate agency? The owner/principal of my previous real estate was beyond disgusting. Abused me on numerous occasions. I've contacted the rta etc. Seems like there's no one out there to make these ppl accountable. He shouldn't hold a license that's for sure

Daily Random Discussion Thread - thoughts?

it seems to me that the sheer amount of traffic we're getting to this wonderful slice of internet demands a daily discussion thread for idle musings that don't quite require their own thread. such would really allow genuine and topical discussion to flourish. in turn, our community as a whole will flourish even more than ever.

happy to roundtable this issue.

thoughts?

This is Brisbane's new subway/metro system.

This is Brisbane's new subway/metro system.

...

...

wait for it.

...

...

The single best thing to happen to Brisbane in it's history, other than Expo 88.

http://bit.ly/1goDiyq

And this is New York's in comparison. Over 100 years old. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjx3S3UjmnA

100 years after New York builds an entire subway system covering their whole city, Brisbane can't even build one subway station, let alone two.

The truth about Brisbane

Are you sitting down?

As a southerner who has just spent the last few weeks in James Street and Brisbane, let me say:

Queensland, and especially Brisbane as a whole is really backwards and can only be tolerated for few weeks of the year.

Thanks for asking me.

/r/Brisbane discusses why Brisbane isn't a cultural backwater or shithole - as if discussing it on Reddit will somehow magically transport it into a Beacon to the World of the Arts and Civility, Good Planning and Great Public Transport

Usually the person who hears the comment bashes the other guy and puts him in hospital.

Wow.

Brisbane is improving.

But /r/Brisbane isn't. They banned me because why?

Because they are like the /r/Australia of the city subs. They ban anyone whose opinion they disagree with. Glad to be on /r/realbne.

Internet goes all Sunnybank about Homelands and countries like the USA / Australia

"Spanish records show the very first Chinese immigrants first touched down on the North American continent in the 1500s. This country is ours just as much as theirs, fuck their 9 generations of baseball and mom's apple pie, we've been around for over 20. Our roots here are fucking DEEP, embrace that shit brothers. This land is our land too."

"Spanish records show the very first Chinese immigrants first touched down on the Australian continent in the 1700s. This country is ours just as much as theirs, fuck their 6 generations of Aussie Rules and mum's frangipani pie, we've been around for over 9. Our roots here are fucking DEEP, embrace that shit brothers. This land is our land too."

Jenner Benner? Our land is your land. Fuck your land. This our land. You dispossessed the Aborigines like a Jenner Benner! Our land is your land. Fuck your land. This our restaurant you pay now. 50,000 year old culture, Chicken Kung Pao, way of the fist, wash hands after toilet, then cook food, Good Authentic Food From Tokyo from me, Mr Chang. You dispossessed the Aborigines like a Jenner Benner! Change spots! Our land is your land. Fuck your land. This our takeaway. You dispossessed the Aborigines like a Jenner Benner!

Can't people just be American or Australian instead of being some fucking bullshit like this?

This shit from these celestial nobles is far more dangerous than any Muslim "threat" to our country. At least Muslims don't murder baby fetuses at age 2 weeks because they're female.

Discuss like a homo Jenner Benner.

Old age retiree move to tropical Brisbane question,

Now that I got on in age (62) I can't stand the cold anymore, I thought of enjoying my life's evening up there in the tropics of Brisbane.

Obviously, to enjoy quality of life there, I'll need to stay away from any youth related amenities, such as schools, night-clubs, sporting grounds, car racing etc. because most young people can't live w/o drugs anymore and thus, daily need to "somehow acquire" hundreds of dollars... :(

I also need to avoid people with social problems, living in government housing or being bludgers

Flooding: I already found the council's flooding map. Rules out most of the inner city so I'll be away from bludgers in government offices. good.

Questions: 1) How to find the locations of government housing to avoid?

  1. Which suburbs or streets harbor criminals, drug addicts, thieves, vandals?

I hope with that I covered all possible dangers to avoid and looking to buy a small house at about 300k.

I started to make up a list of all goodies at Brisbane, such as: Inala, Hamilton, Coorparoo and other best of the best suburbs

Thank you.

Off Topic - Australia not just Brisbane - It hardly seems fair now does it?

http://www.experienceproject.com/stories/Hate-Living-In-Australia/4022505

I've seen a lot of these ungrateful people now on this website. It hardly seems fair now does it? Warning - Australia not just Brisbane Topic!

We now accept that every white Australian we deal with is ignorant scum without an ounce of integrity or honesty. We now make this allowance when dealing with white Australians and treat them with complete contempt. And we let them know this. I see my day as a failure if I have not wound up a white Ozzie. We get paid a silly amount of money here (because our Ozzie equivalents are so useless) and simply intend to take them for every penny we can. We are going to take advantage of every tax/pension break/sick day etc we can. Save up our money and then go back to the civilised world. We, if at all possible, never have any financial dealings with white Australians (particularly financial) and delight in telling people in shops etc we will only buy non Australian made products. We have an Asian doctor/dentist and get our car is repaired at a British owned garage

Fairs fair and fairs far. It hardly seems fair does it?

Posts that Summarise Best what Brisbane is all About - THE SPIRIT OF BRISBANE AND EVERYTHING GOOD AND GREAT IT HAS TO OFFER THE WORLD

http://www.reddit.com/r/brisbane/comments/3ah6aw/does_anyone_else_actually_kinda_hate_being/

From /u/anotherdrunkenidiot.

"I feel that some of the things that people applaud australian culture for are also some of the things that drag it down. Concepts such as australian egalitarianism and a "fair go" are a double edged sword. People are welcoming to outsiders, unassuming and dont promote hierachical behavor. But at the same time; it is expected of individuals to keep themselves in line so that they dont appear to be trying to outshine their peers. If you get a respectable education, attempt to learn a foreign langauge, or push yourself to excell in something that isnt sport; it is uncomfortable and a faux pas to openly acnoledge it in public. So you ought to only try to better yourself in private. I want to move to sydney so that i can feel anonymous in a city that does not need me to curb my behaviour. I feel my culture takes more away from me than it gives me."

Moving to Sydney will just mean Bogans with better teeth. And more Jenner Benners with Big Big Man Hands. Stupid idea.

From /r/Brisbane Resident Bogan /u/2LittleDucks

"Good for you. A lot of people don't understand that so called 'bogans' are usually the result of long term family dis-functionality that can be traced back to fathers, brothers and sons being killed and maimed in the first, second world and Vietnam wars that left families without roll models and bread winners, causing children to leave school early, run wild and start an endless cycle of poor education leading to poor life choices. Sure it's easy to pile shit on them and I've done it but we all should really think twice before dismissing them, their culture and their behaviour without thinking about the circumstances that kicked it all off. The same can be said about rednecks in the USA and chavs in the UK. It was always the working class who were the first to put their hand up to volunteer for their country and conscription favoured the well to do and not the working class.

Having lost so much and being on the back foot from birth just seems to make these people prouder about their country and flag because of their ancestors sacrifices /rant"

Incorrect answer. Bogans have nothing to do with this. Bogans are people who actually think that money is more important than honest, hardworking values. They show off their trinkets, investment properties, HSV utes, and their useless degrees in liberal arts, their muscles, tatts, beards or many other things that they see as valuable to "shock" or "show" other people what Big Big Jenner Benner Men with Man Hands they are.

From /r/realbne's very own /u/Hamiltonionion

https://www.reddit.com/r/realbne/comments/385qon/not_the_onion_this_is_brisbane_brisbane_a/

My observation this morning relates to Australia but applies just as well to Brisbane. In fact, it applies even more to Brisbane.

This is Brisbane. There are so many ignorant Bogans in Brisbane and Australia that have no fucking idea how much the Country is ruining them, yet defend it... For example; the place is a poofters paradise with 18,186 more Males than Females between the ages of 18-28 just in NSW alone. The other states and territories like Brisbane and Queensland are even WORSE. The price of land here is a joke at $900,000+ for your average house and land package in Sydney. The people are mostly aged, malignant and rude. There is a hideous inferiority complex where fuck wits must "educate" American's about Aussie culture in a Crocodile Dundee fashion. Sad news guys, American's don't care. Over a million without work and only 100,000 terrible job vacancies. By the way, if you have managed to read this far, I shall say; Yes I accept that Australia is not bad in comparison to some other places in the world (like Uganda, or Yemen) But, it sure ain't perfect.
