Hey guys, I’m building a 1.3m boat, it’s lined with Kevlar inside and I’m going to be laying carbon fiber to reinforce the body, I’ve been tinkering with motors but no luck. I’ve got 2 150A Esc’s from flycolor and basically I want to make a boat that can atleast hit 170kmph. I’m open to suggestions. Can anyone please help and let me know what type of electronics would be better for it and the types of props. Much appreciated
Hi there.
Me and some family members have a small pond on our property and we are interested in having a racing weekend. We bought a few cheaper boats to play with to get a feel for it and now are setting very basic class rules. We felt limiting the boats to 7.4v would slow the boats down enough for enjoyable racing on the small amount of water we have available. My questions are related to boat choice. Since we are only running 7.4v. Will boats designed to run 7.4v be better than boats designed for 11.1v batteries but only running a 7.4? Also, with the limited power available would small hulls be faster than longer ones? I can buy either a UDI010 or a UDI005 for roughly same amount of money. The UDI005 feels like a lot more boat for the money but I feel it may be slower than the UDI010 on 7.4v and am also worried the extra hull length may lead to issues on the small and narrow pond we are using. Any advice would be appreciated.
so im trying to build a 3d printed jet boatand im not sure what motor and esc and what type of battery i should use someone plis help, the impeller is 37,5 mm in diameter i think and the boat is around 30-40 cm long. and also how big should the batterie/batteries be, like how how manny cells and how manny mah. im thinking about like 4s 5000mah battery
My favorite video of this boat, its just something else.
Running on salt water, which I flush after running all day.
A comfortable lead after a very good start.
This was when i installed the new powerplant on this boat with brand new top end kit!
Since i cant upload multiple videos at a time ill be uploading them one by one.
I know it's slower I just found a better deal on 2s and I think it will lower temps as well.
Hello everyone, I would like to purchase a model RTR of the Fletcher class from Bancroft. Motion RC have them but only on the US website (this one). I'm from France so i was wondering if there is any other options ? I found one (this one) but it's made by Aquacraft. Is it good ? Are they the same product ? Thanks for your help !
Regards,
Loïc
Im not sure whether to pick the udi022 or udi005, they both sell for around 200$ but have some problems of their own such as the udi022 which is really fast and can handle 4s but is hard to modify by some users but with the udi005 It can’t handle 4s or can just at lower throttles? Which would be better for the price and is there any other better ones?
I was planning on making a 6ft long RC model of a great lakes freighter and I wanted to know if it was OK to construct using MDF wood.
Thank you in advance for any useful feedback and information provided on this thread.
I live in an area where there are zero RC stores to visit to ask any questions, therefore, why not reach out to the Reddit Community for useful feedback.
Looking to purchase an RC race boat to take to my houseboat this summer to enjoy with my pops.
• What is the most reliable model to purchase? Looking for something that is manageable to maintain not being the best mechanical person.
• What is a credible website to buy at?
• How much should I spend? I’m thinking $300 is my budget.
• Fast, dependable, and easy to maintain is what I am looking for.
Thank you all again for your feedback.
Sincerely. 🤙
I'm looking at building a little 6-8 ft boat for my soon to be 4 year old for the summer. I'd like to go electric and probably get a little bit of a remote on it so I don't have to kayak or swim out to him when they get stuck.
I was looking and noticed some of the 40mm water jet thrusters on eBay/ali express. Wondering if one or two of these would be big enough to push around a hundred pounds on the water at a few miles per hour, or if that's way under powered. I saw some adults on surf boards with what looked like the same thing going pretty good.
Or is there a better solution to this or a better place to search. I'm kinda in-between a real boat and an RC boat on this one. I've mostly done stuff w the ride on cars so that's why I started here. Figured I could use some of my boneyard of equipment from those on a small boat.
Thanks!
It weights 1.222 kg and is 50x20cm big, are weight and size unbalanced ? Thank you in advance
I have a 2200kv outrunner brushless motor and a 60A ESC. Which battery should I choose for this combo ? (I know my boat is a mess)
Hello everyone I am interested in getting into rc boats. I own a few rc cars and want a change of pace. I seen a traxxas blast at a hobby shop close to my area. My thing is I’m mostly limited to traxxas cause those parts are readily available at my local hobby shop (local as an hour away is the nearest one). My question is, is a blast any good? I’m looking for something entry level. In my town we have a small lake for the boat.
I have 3D printed a boat and tried putting some basic electronics in it to get it going. This worked ok but with no direct control over the motors (and very weak motors) it ended up going in circles.
I am familiar with FPV drone electronics having built my own drone, my aim is to create an FPV boat as well. Just for fun! I have a Radiomaster Pocket ELRS controller and analog headset which I would like to use.
What else would I need and can anyone recommend a good build guide? Thanks!
Hi! I'm a student intern working on a project where we're gunna have younger engineering students design the hulls for RC boats digitally and then 3D print them. I'm tasked with picking out the electrical components to be given to these student teams to be installed into their hulls to create a simple functional RC Boat!
I'm wondering which websites I can use to order the bare minimum, affordable parts. We need the following: controller and receiver, brushless RC motor and ESC (we have brushed currently but I've heard brushless is better when operating around water like in this case), servo motor for the rudder control, and a battery pack. Last years students ordered some of these in already but we're looking to move from brushed to brushless, and we need more parts ordered in general. Formerly, every part was ordered from amazon and Temu, but I'm asking here incase there are more optimal inexpensive options elsewhere.
Also if anyone has any specific super low budget recommendations that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks to anyone reading this far!
