Mysterious light in woods at night

I often wake several times at night, and toss & turn a while before falling back to sleep.

The other night, I was doing the old toss & turn about midnight when I turned to my left and saw a freaking crazy line of alternating pink and green light moving slowly down my wall. It disappeared about 3 seconds after I saw it. It was about 3 feet wide and eh maybe a half inch thick. I figure it came in through my back window.

A drawing of what it looked like is up on imgur at https://imgur.com/gallery/O9OQEVO

A few seconds after I saw it my dog went nuts. (That might not mean anything, she goes off for any wandering raccoon or deer.) Not sure if she even saw it, it was on my left and she was on my right.

So my question is, what the heck shoots out a line of alternating colors of light? Were there hunters wandering in my woods with some hunting light gizmo? Was it a drone? A plane full of weirdos with lasers? Google or robbers trying to scan my many valuable possessions (hah)?

Please help me transcribe this barely audible video!

I am away on vacation and I heard an unfamiliar voices in my camera - but I can’t see the doorway. They just went in and out.

I don’t know if I heard hey guys or hey cats, and I can’t hear the other line.

Momento Mori written on mirror

This morning my wife got out of the shower and noticed writing on the upper left corner of the steamed over mirror that said “momento mori”.

I googled and it means “remember you must die” and Momento mori mirrors are a thing. This is just a normal big rectangular bathroom mirror though. We have lived in this apartment for 5 months and never noticed this. The mirror has been cleaned weekly with cleaner. We have a doorbell camera and no one has entered while we weren’t here.

I posted a link to the picture of the writing in the comments. Any ideas?

Edit: the writing could have said Memento instead of Momento. By the time I took the pic the letters started to run.

Who is contacting me about my dead friend ?? Advice needed

Recently, I’ve been receiving texts from a single international phone number. At first, I ignored it, thinking it was spam, but the messages keep mentioning my friend, who passed away several years ago. The texts are strange—asking things like, “Is this [friend’s name]?” or referencing places and memories only close friends would know.

For context, I’ve had this phone number for years, and I’ve never shared it with anyone internationally. My friend also had no ties to the country this number seems to be coming from. When I finally asked the sender who they were, they responded with something cryptic: “You already know.”

Out of curiosity, I looked up my phone number online, and weirdly enough, it seems to be linked to my friend’s name on an old, unverified website. I can’t figure out how or why. I even tried tracking the number through online tools, but I’ve had no luck—the results lead nowhere.

This is starting to feel unsettling. Why would an international number contact me about my dead friend? Is it a scam, some kind of mistake, or something more? Any advice would be appreciated—I don’t know what to think.

Who is sending my son magazines?

My son, “John”, is 12 years old. Today he received 3 magazines addressed to ”Johnny”: Esquire, Elle and Wine Spectator.

He’s never purchased anything online nor knows how to. He’s got the ‘tism, so developmentally he’s around 8 or 9. The extent of his internet usage is YouTube and Google classroom.

How can I find out what service these magazines are coming from? Why would they send this stuff for free? They’re for adults too, if they were geared for middle schoolers I’d understand but I’m so lost. Help!

Who is Roger?!

I have had the same phone number for over two decades- I got my first cell phone in 2003 from Cingular Wireless and have held onto that same number ever since.

A few years ago I started getting text messages addressed to “Roger”. Always asking me about a property I had for sale, always in Wisconsin. My area code is Wisconsin but I haven’t lived there for over 10 years. I’ve also never owned property and don’t know anyone named Roger- like in my entire lifetime I can’t think of a single person I’ve ever met named Roger. I’m also not a male.

Not too long ago I plugged my cell phone number into Google and the first result (plus a few others) is for Roger! And it does list at least one of the properties I’ve gotten texts about, under his name. He’s a 63 year old man (older than my parents) who from what I can tell is also married (I’ve never been married).

Sometimes I’ll ask these numbers how they got my info and I did actually get a response once, apparently it was from a leads list.

I’m genuinely curious at this point how he seems to be connected to my phone number. Which again, I’ve had since 2003. Does anyone have any ideas? I get calls sometimes too for people asking for Roger in relation to a property. Any info is accepted with gratitude!

Odd ring camera audio...

My parents sent me this recording from yesterday. This is at their house from when They were out of town. Now they have cameras all over the property, including inside and out. No cameras picked up footage of anyone on property just neighbors cars driving... Now my folks intentionally put cameras by every entrance and in every main room. There's a camera in our laundry room that leads to the loft (where this happened) it would've picked up anybody coming in or out of that area.

Ring notified them that there was motion detected in their loft bedroom (no inside camera in that room). The camera on the loft balcony picked up this audio. To me it sounds like someone saying "I think they're watching us" but I can't make out what was said after.

I'm trying to think of possible explanations to what could've caused this. Maybe it was my parents talking when they checked the camera and it played through the camera microphone? To me the first part sounds way too clear to be an accident.

They're having a neighbor come and look through the house, and I'll give any updates if need be. What do you guys think was said, or any possible explanations?! Ghosts? Wall people? Burglars? Audio interferences?

Posting the video on my page since I can't add to this thread! Kinda new here so I apologize for any inconvenience 💕💕

Photos I never took appearing on google photos

So this one has stumped everyone I know. I got a memory on google photos of this cat that I don’t recognise, that was taken in NSW, Australia in December of 2022. However I took other photos that day at my house hundreds of kilometres away that I do remember taking.

I have found one other unknown cat photo taken in the same place in August of 2022. Looking at the meta data the August photo was taken on an iPhone 11 (which I have never owned) and the December one taken on an iPhone 14 (which I have also never owned).

Any ideas of how these photos may have gotten onto my google photos. My google security is up to date and I am looking for any other unknown photos.

https://imgur.com/a/IMRtLWi for the photos and the related metadata. Please help I have asked everyone I know about these cats and reverse google image searched to no avail. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: This appears to be solved by u/ImWithTheGnomes the weird photos appear to be from downloading a picture off the internet at a similar time. It appears to have downloaded a whole folder without my knowledge that may have contained said photos (however I have deleted many photos off my computer since then). This file also contained my profile picture from google at the time. This folder must have synced with my google photos at some point giving me the unknown cat photos and very possibly other photos I’m not aware of. Please read u/ImWithTheGnomes comments for more info, but it seems this is as solved as it’s going to get.

What causes the beep at night?

Nearly every night for almost 2 weeks I've heard this random beep somewhere. The first time I heard it twice, but not in a row, seperately, probably around 15-30min apart, but I've only heard it one time a night since. It's not the smoke alarm, and we do have a carbon monoxide detector, which is what I'm suspecting, however, I can't find any info on it beeping just one time, nor does it give any indication of anything when I inspect it.

Who Would Use An Email They Can't Access? Email mystery help needed.

Before I begin, it's possible that this issue may boil down to "yes, some people are that dumb/weird."

I have several rarely used Gmail addresses. Before Chrome allowed you to switch easily between inboxes, I set up these addresses to forward to my main Gmail so I could see if anything came in/respond without having to log in/out.

About a month ago, one of these near-defunct addresses forwarded me a notification about signing up for an apartment rental site. The emails all referenced a name that has no connection with me (i.e. "Brittany! Thanks for signing up to our site!" and I don't know or have any family named Brittany). I eventually received about 10 emails all related to apartment rentals in a state to which I have no connection.

One email contained a copy of a completed application submitted through one of these sites. The name on the app matched the name in the subject line. There was a phone number for the person, so I texted it. The information on the application was consistent with the type of notifications I received (apartments in the same city/state, a request for low-cost housing).

I texted the number and said, hey, "Brittany" at this number is using an email address that doesn't belong to them to sign up for apartment rental. Please stop using the email address. The recipient asked who I was, and I said that I am the owner of the email address being used, and obviously "Brittany" isn't getting these confirmation emails because it doesn't belong to her. I never got a reply.

Before I texted "Brittany," I thought my identity had been stolen. My personal information has been involved in data breaches (whose hasn't?) so it seemed plausible. However, nothing has happened before or since to indicate a stolen identity. I don't have any new or unrecognized logins, no fraudulent charges to my bank account or credit cards, no credit bureau hits, etc. I also logged in to the actual Gmail account itself and updated the password. There was nothing in that inbox to suggest fraud or even any attempts to access it and failing.

The email address in question is simple and made up of two words, one of which is suggestive of my location. That location is several states away from where "Brittany" lives.

After about a month with nothing new from "Brittany," I got more similar emails today. No one is trying to log into the address or I would get a notification.

I feel pretty confident that my identity hasn't been stolen, and that "Brittany" is a real, legitimate person just trying to find housing.

My question is: Who would use an email address they don't have access to to repeatedly sign up for important financial/housing issues? It's obvious that she isn't getting these notifications, and I don't see any evidence that a secondary email is also getting the messages. What's more, I have alerted her that I'm getting her personal information by explaining that I got the number I texted from the application that was sent to me.

What does it benefit someone who appears to be signing up to legitimate sites for legitimate reasons to use an email address that isn't theirs?

Is there anything I can do to stop this? The Gmail address being used has no associations or connections to my accounts/financials, it's just annoying and unnerving to receive these notices because it puts me on even higher alert that some part of my online presence (even if an extremely insignificant part) is being misused.

I appreciate any input.

Need help identifying a license plate

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out for help after a scary incident. A man hit my bike with his vehicle and then drove off. Thankfully, I managed to record a video of the incident, but I’m having trouble identifying the license plate.

I’ve uploaded the video here, https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FCLOaMBgq-OMCgWm7GOnKRhpni6B3924/view?usp=sharing . If anyone can help me enhance the footage or has tips for identifying the plate, I’d be incredibly grateful.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Seeking inputs on what she was saying

I would like to solicit the investigative skills of the people here to please decode what the little girl was saying in this video: https://youtu.be/5AiUROUNfTk?si=UYGV7kJwwt6Hxlym

For context, I noticed a notification alarm in my doorbell app and this was captured 5am Saturday morning, which is a strangely unusual time for a little girl to be on her own, let alone ringing an unknown house. Unfortunately, I finished my work very late and slept past nearly 3am; I was out cold and wasn't able to wake up to the sound of the doorbell.

"Help me inaudible" is what she seemed to be saying. I've listened almost a hundred times but still unable to make out the rest of her dialogue.

She doesn't seem to be in a hurry but there's a concerned look in her face, which I have decided to blur out for privacy. I sincerely hope nothing serious happened to her, else I might not be able to forgive myself for not being there for her.

Additional info: I haven't asked around the neighbourhood yet, will do so as soon as I see them back (woke up late today and they might have gone somewhere).

Thanks in advance.

Can you help me identify the plates of the vehicle that hit my car and drove away? I have raw footage, photos, and partial plate characters.

Hit and run, I have parts of the plate. Tips on how to find the rest? DMV won’t help with a lookup. PD is dragging their feet.

My car was hit a couple days ago and the driver took off. I have all the car information but the entire plate. I was able to clean up the footage and saw 2-4 characters out of the six. I’ve already spoke with police and the officer working on my case isn’t in until Sunday. Even then, I doubt they’ll follow through with anything. Are there any other resources I can use to look up a plate?

I was trying a general plate search on a website which gives the latest car info, I tested it on my plates and it was accurate. It’s just a matter of finding the right combination for the first two characters, if the rest are accurate.

I spoke with my town police dept and they said it’s up to the other police dept where I originally started the report. DMV refused to help me.

No other security cams, I have the raw footage, it’s just a matter of getting this guys plates.

Car information: Ram 1500, red, chrome trim, empty trunk bed, hitch on back, power window in the back, tinted windows in the passenger back area (I think that’s called a king cab?) Maine chickadee license plate style with the plate “ _ _ 2A” possibly followed by “PJ” Years 2019-2024

Raw footage: (will need VIC to view or some equivalent)

I just bought this car 2 months ago after I was sold a lemon because my original car was totaled during a wreck, I’m a recent grad and my loan repayment starts this month, on Christmas of all days, I just moved here and this really gives me a sour taste of Bangor. Needless to say, I’m unraveling.

This is posted on the Penobscot County scanner page and didn’t get as much attention as I thought it would. I don’t have many friends here so that was the only thing I could do in terms of spreading on social media.

I’ve called some body shops to let me know if a red Ram comes in for any repairs, but there’s way too many to cover them all.

Missing Child in Phenix City Alabama

On June 24th, 2024, a house fire in PHENIX CITY, AL claimed the life of 23-year-old Hanna Brooke Fretwell. According to her family, Hanna lived there with her 9- month-old baby, Josiah James Reed, and two other men. Josiah is believed to be still missing. So far, only Fretwell's remains were recovered, according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. Hanna's vehicle was found away from the house. Need help determining if these condoms mean my girlfriends a cheat

Long story short found a quarter of a condom wrapper in my girlfriend’s bathroom cabinet. We don’t use condoms. We’ve been dating for a few months now. At the beginning of the relationship she had moved into her parent’s house where she now lives. She lives in the basement. Now she does have a box of condoms which match this wrapper. She’s had them for years. Now she tells me it must have been her brothers since they lived there before she did. I could somewhat get that just cause she’s never given me any signs of a cheater she’s always seemed loyal.

The quarter wrapper i do have seems to have the same codes on the corner as a condom from her box, not to mention they’re both trojan thins same color. The codes are on the back side of the condoms all the way to the furthest edge. “TJBF-93752-02 72016566” Again these codes are all the way to the edge of the condom not near the expiration date. My main question is do these codes mean without a doubt that these are from the same box? Thanks for the help.

A cluster of dry suds fell in front of me at my computer.

So I posted on here a bit ago about another subject and I got some great answers so I figured I’d try again!

I was in my apartment working at my computer today and a piece of what I can only describe as the fake snow at Disney, the size of a quarter fell in front of me. (Almost like dry suds?) I caught it in my hand and when I closed my hand it disappeared (dissolved) instantly. No trace of soap or anything. We don’t have any decor that would involve something like that. I washed dishes yesterday in a completely different room. I thought maybe it was some suds that floated away and dried out but yeah that seems unlikely bc our apt is big and my office and the sink are far apart. I’m stumped. Thanks for the help!

Strange food, liquid, and notes left on the street for my dog to get into.

A couple months ago my dog sniffed out a plate of what looked like quinoa and some kind of congealed fat. There was also a cup full of brown liquid and cigarettes. What made it weird was a big red candle that was half burned. This was right on the corner from my house so I had to throw it out.

A month or so later he found what looked like raw liver bound in red string. This was not a chicken liver because it was about as big as a turkey breast. This was on the opposite corner even closer to my house so I had to throw it out to.

Today he found a plate buried under leaves with a note on it, with a small Tupperware full of goopy red liquid also with a note. This was further from my house fortunately. I took him home and got latex gloves so I could check the notes but I can't make them out. Notes and red liquid

This also has candle wax which makes me think it could be religious? Anyways I have no idea what to do.

Unknown substance in a crinkled baggy, anyone have a clue what this might be?

Hey, so today I was cleaning the house when stumbled across this bag in my fathers possession and I was wondering if anyone had a clue as to what it might be.

It has a very pungent odor, and it smells a bit like a car air freshener. The smell persists from outside the bag, that’s how strong it is. They look like little twigs and with tiny buds on top of them.

I honestly have no clue what it might be, but I’m just hoping it’s not a drug of some kind. Hoping maybe somebody can recognize it, thanks.

Edit: Solved, it was cloves.

My wife had a missed call from a number from Dallas Texas, we live in Georgia, first thing in the morning. She listened to the vm later in the day and it was a 3 min recording of us in the house. You can hear us talking and the kids running around. Nothing important was said, just normal everyday stuff. Anyone know what’s going on here?

Looking to find out where my grandmother used to live in Morocco

My grandmother lived in Casablanca, Morocco between 1950-1952 in a Jewish quarter known possibly as Habitat Israelite. Her address at the time was Bd. Calmel Bloc 6 1 ere Etage. The issue is that soon after she and her family left, Casablanca changed the name of the streets, so the location of her home is unknown. I'm going with my family in a few weeks to visit Casablanca to see where she lived, but we would like to find the exact location of her home so we can know where we came from. If anyone here knows how to find this place, I would really appreciate it! Any help or direction would be lovely.

Can anyone help identify plate number?

Hey all, so yesterday evening I unfortunately had a small accident due to a car making an illegal left turn, causing the car in front of me to make an emergency stop, after which I hit their rear bumper. I simply wasnt expecting them to ever come to a full stop on this stretch of road. Luckily the damage is minor, but the car that caused all this making the illegal left turn did not stop. I am hoping you can help me identify the plate number from this dashcam video:

https://we.tl/t-WvhA2CviOp

The format for the plate is: 99-XXX-9 with 9 any number from 0-9 and X any letter from the following list: G, H, J, K, L, N, P, R, S, T, X and Z. Hoping anyone can help, thanks in advance.

Seeking Information About My Mother’s Case from Early 2000s

Hi everyone, I’m reaching out to this group in search of answers to a long-standing mystery surrounding my mother. Her story has deeply impacted my family, and I’m trying to uncover the truth about her past. Any help or advice would mean so much.

Here’s what I know so far:

  1. Background: My mother, originally from Manila, went to Japan during the early 2000s (2004 i think cause i found some nbi ducuments) to work. Due to poverty and limited opportunities, she used her sister’s identity to get employment abroad. Her sister had graduated, while my mother had not, so this was the only way she could support her family.

  2. Legal Troubles: Around 2004, my mother returned to the Philippines and went into hiding in Zamboanga. It’s possible she was deported and faced legal troubles related to fraud (possibly identity-related), immigration violations, or other serious issues. Her case was reportedly covered in a Japanese or Philippine newspaper, but I have not been able to locate it.

  3. Possible Work: In Japan, she may have worked in the nightlife industry, possibly as a hostess or in adult entertainment, which was common for overseas workers at the time.

  4. Impact on Family: My half-sister, who was around 4 or 5 years old in 2003 or 2004, was bullied in school because classmates claimed her mother was “wanted.” Despite the risks, my mother later met my father in Isabela around 2006 and raised us while keeping a low profile.

  5. Alternate Identities: Over the years, my mother may have used alternate names, including her sister’s, my father’s, mine, or my sibling’s, as part of her efforts to avoid detection.

  6. Photos & Clues: I have photos of my mother in Japan with colleagues and outside establishments that might help identify where she worked or lived.

  7. Adult Entertainment Possibility: It’s possible she worked in Japan’s adult entertainment industry or red-light districts, which were often avenues for Filipinas seeking employment abroad.

  8. Poverty & Sacrifice: My mother’s decision to use her sister’s identity and work abroad was driven by the desire to escape poverty and provide for her family. Despite the risks, she worked hard and endured many challenges to secure a better future for us.

  9. Current Search Efforts: I’ve been searching Google News archives and other online resources for newspaper articles or records from Japan and the Philippines, but I’ve had no luck.

I’m hoping someone here might have:

Advice on how to locate old newspaper archives related to deportations or legal cases from Japan or the Philippines.

Knowledge of similar cases involving overseas workers in the early 2000s.

Tips on investigating discreetly without exposing my family’s privacy.

Insights into how Japan’s nightlife or adult entertainment industries operated during that time.

Any insights, resources, or connections would mean the world to me. This isn’t just about uncovering the past; it’s about understanding my mother’s journey, the challenges she faced, and honoring her sacrifices for our family.

Please feel free to share or message me privately if you have any leads. Thank you so much for reading and helping in any way you can.

This case has captured my imagination for some reason.

I guess we'll know more when the forensic tests come out, but I'm posting it here because they have asked for the public's help. Based on the rules I read, I think this is allowed, even though it's an active investigation?

Someone is Harassing a family member of mine via text- unsure how to proceed

Hi,

My family member is a recovered addict. For the past year or so she has been getting these insane texts from random numbers. They're all the same person(I.e the same text coming from two numbers). This was all pretty strange but not worth worrying about. However about 90 days ago the number started sending pictures of drugs, asking if she'll break today, etc etc. Just openly mocking her. Now she is 2+ years sober but the constant barrage of that stuff doesn't help at all.

They aren't text now numbers, they're full numbers with voicemails. There are probably 3-5 everyday, never the same. All diff area codes. Any idea how to catch this guy? I went to local police who said they can't do anything even though they admitted that it's a crime and that if I can find who it is they'll charge him with something.

Any thoughts on what to do? She already changed her number twice.
