Just learned that the CEO of Spotify endorsed trump. What are some Spotify alternatives?

I just can't keep using it, which is sad since I've curated my algorithm for years.

Sacred Noose - Vanishing Spires (2025)

Sacred Noose have just unleashed our debut album. 6 tracks of Irish dissonant black/death metal with punishing production and harsh noise influences. Lyrics are focused on many capitalistic and societal ailments. We’ve been working on this one since Autumn 2023 with numerous iterations of the band and we’re excited to finally bring this out into the world. An updated lineup and future shows are planned to be announced later this year. Behold the charity of gleaming ash.

Released in conspiracy with Fiadh Productions & Breath Sun Bone Blood Artwork by Canopic Ire

What do people think about the ethics of vinyl production/manufacturing?

I've been thinking about this for a while and haven't really made up my mind.

Vinyl is a popular format for metalheads, but it's manufacture is pretty bad for the climate and for the workers in the global south who work the PVC factories (the biggest manufacturer is in Thailand as far as I know).

The musicologist Kyle Devine (cool name btw) has written about this issue (as well as about the climate footprint of streaming) in Decomposed: The Political Ecology of Music and he also wrote a more accessible article in The Guardian some years ago

I find this paragraph especially interesting:

Still, practical resolutions are emerging. A group of eight Dutch companies is exploring ways of greening vinyl, by making records from a recyclable, non-PVC material. Yet last October in Los Angeles, at the world’s leading business-to-business conference for plastic music formats, their Green Vinyl Records prototype recordings were laughed at because they sounded “awful” and felt “cheap”. One of the consortium’s leaders complained to me about the conservatism of vinyl junkies. I listened to the available demo record, and it’s true that it neither sounded nor felt like a typical LP. The background noise was not what I was used to, and there was even sometimes an intermittent ringing – as if the record itself had tinnitus. The bend and the flex were unusual. The edges were boxy. But if this is the sound and the feel of something that is made from a material less damaging than PVC, then these characteristics are not blemishes but beauties.

Social Media Alternatives

Hellö, I’m part of a small DIY collective booking mainly Black Metal, Screamo and Post HC shows in germany. Currently we mainly post and reach people on Instagram, but due to the recent political changes we wanna move away from Meta. Now we’re trying to figure out, what Plattform we gonna switch to, in hopes of still reaching enough people to keep our DIY shows going. So what alternatives to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram do you use? Especially those, that you use to keep up with bands, artists and bookers.

I appreciate your feedback!

Currently looking into: Mastodon Bluesky (might be just another corporate bs) Bandcamp Pixelfed Blog/Newsletter (old school, might be hard to reach people)

Is there any “trve kvlt”-sounding RABM?

By “trve kvlt”, I mean that sort of raw, kinda melodic, melancholic/triumphant style, often taking a lot of influence from Darkthrone and the Finnish bands. Preferably no crust. I know of Order of the Wolf and Axis of Light and liked those, I was wondering if there was anything else along those lines.

Thanks!

Not sure if black 'n' roll is even the term since I am an utter beginner in this music space, but essentially looking for bands with a similar sound to Kvelertak without being sketchy as all fuck

Any red/anarchist magick metal bands?

Hello there! Basically the title.
As far as I have discovered, the majority of magick metal bands use Nazi symbology and some of them even promote the ideology in their songs. I am quite a fan of this smooth lo-fi synthy metal genre, but quite an adversary for right-wing ideologies.
So, yeah. Any music recommendations, please?

Death metal bands without murder or r-pe in their lyrics

Hello fellow metal heads, basically what the title says im kinda getting over all that sort of death metal and its just getting old tbh constently hearing that sort of stuff, if people can suggest other bands that dont have those types of lyrics that would be great, that are obviously not sketchy, open to literally anything basically. And yes i know this is a black metal sub but i might as well ask.

Edit: Space themed would also been cool if people have suggestions
