Classic/Old School BodyBuilding Gyms

Hey people! Very excited to be visiting Prague for the first time next week for the EVLS bodybuilding show!

The event will take place here for reference: PVA EXPO PRAGUE, Beranových 667, 199 00 Praha 9

Now, I’m curious about some bodybuilding gyms the freaks going to the event might go to. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to train in the same gym as some of them, even if it’s not with them.

If you had to put your detective hat on, what would you say are the top 3 options the Athletes would go to? Keeping in mind they’re new to the city and probably wouldn’t wanna go toooo far away from the venue!

Looking forward to see your responses and explore your city!

Kalmetizace - VFN Prague

Hi, sorry for an ignorant question, but does any one know if the Kalmetizace (BCG vaccine) for newborns at VFN Prague is "walk-in" or needs a prior appointment?

On the website it says "Calming: Monday 08:30 - 13:00 and Thursday 08:30 - 12:00" but I can't understand if I need to make a appointments or not. I tried calling but no one ever answers or reply to emails.

(Its difficult for me to leave the house with a 12 day old baby and my wife is also not keeping well. )

Parking to stay in Praha 5

Hi, I'll be in Prague for a weekend. I am debating if it's cheaper to go by car or by train. Are there any free or cheap parking options with good public transport connection to Praha 5? Looks like closest station to my stay is Zlíchov.

Thanks in advance!

Borrow or rent an easel

I’m going to be visiting Prague with my family in a couple weeks and I was hoping to sit down and get some drawing done.

I was wondering if anyone has a field easel I could borrow or rent for 2 days?

I know Artikon has some rentals but I’d have to either rent 3 easels or 1 for 3 weeks and that seems a bit much since I’ll only be drawing for 2 days.

Landlord wants to charge for intercom repairs

Hello!

The intercom in my apartment started beeping randomly some days ago making it unusable.

I contacted the landlord and he said I would have to pay the repairs. Is this even legal?

I did not buy or install this intercom and certainly not break it. Can he charge me?

Thank you.

Edit: thanks for the replies. I’ll have it fixed and if it’s more than what’s my responsibility in repair fees, I’ll hand it over to my landlord.

Apartment Air quality

Hey everyone,

Other than opening windows daily/weekly and using a dehumidifier/air purifier (I use both). Any recommendations on how to keep the air in the apartment fresh in the winter/fall?

I haven't seen anything in the sub about this in my searching (maybe im using the wrong key words)

Last Week Tonight Episode missing from HBO/Max?

Anyone know why LWT Episode 27 has been removed from Max? It's the episode about deportations and Lee Greenwood. Yes, I can find it on YouTube, I'm more curious as to why it's now gone.

Seems like all the other episodes for this season are there, just that one is missing.

Is wearing a chapka bad perceived in Czech Republic?

I was thinking to buy cause I like the look of it but I read in a guide tour that it is not a good idea cause it is associated with Russia and communism period, is it true? I don’t want to offend anybody

Update with an idea of what I want, not the « real » URSS chapka https://www.asos.com/fr/prd/206805805?acquisitionsource=pasteboard

What would you do if you saw a homeless person taking shelter in your apartment entrance hall?

Especially on a cold winter night like this. They were able to get in because the lock has been broken for a week and the temporary solution was to duct tape the lock on both the door and the frame.

He is harmless, just sleeping in the corner.

Edited the post to say he was indeed harmless.

Derby Prague ( 8 March )

Is it difficult to get tickets for Sparta Prague against Slavia Prague? I want to go to the derby on the weekend of March 8, but I don't know if it is even possible to get tickets. Slavia Prague will probably also play in the Europa League on Thursday. Could any of you tell me more about this if you have any insight into it? For example, do I need a club card? Thank you in advance!

Expats of Prague who registered a car, how to get a VAT proof ?

According to https://portal.gov.cz/.../registration-of-a-new-or..., following documents are required to register a car imported from another EU country :

  • proof of roadworthiness of the vehicle (COC sheet)
  • proof of roadworthiness test , if the vehicle is not new
  • a green card issued under the Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance Act (compulsory liability insurance)
  • documentation containing the information required for the registration of the vehicle in the road vehicle register, if not contained in the certificate of roadworthiness
  • proof of payment of VAT, if the vehicle originates from another EU Member State

I will be able to produce all of the above in my opinion except the proof of payment of VAT. Any idea if the invoice for purchasing the car (got it through a car dealer) will be enough or do I need another kind of document ?

Thanks for your help

Make reservations at least 2 days beforehand at restaurants!

So it is my first time travelling to Prague . I did my research on where to eat good and traditional food and when I say every I mean EVERY restaurant was full and had a waiting list of at least 5 groups of people . Me and my boyfriend were trying for at least 1 and a half hour to find a descent place to eat that was not a tourist trap and we ended up eating at KFC . Today I tried to book a table at Lokál which is a very famous and frequently recommended restaurant and EVERYTHING was booked for 5 days .

Fotograf v centre Prahy

Anyone up for a walk in the park? Beer in a pub? Game of pool in the pool hall? I'd like to practice my Czech if possible but I'm up for meeting anyone really. I'm from London originally but I've been living here a while now. Cheers

Doctor wants to charge me 300czk as Booking Fee and English language communication

Hello, We confirm your appointment on the [reducted]. Please be aware that we charge an extra fee 300 CZK for the appointment booking and communication in English.

Is this legal? I haven't encounter this before. If it is not, can I report it somewhere?

EDIT: Thank you all for the comments/responses

I’m a foreigner staying in Prague for a few months. Only been here a few weeks but I’ve caught a pretty rough cold. Is anywhere still selling Covid tests? I’ve been to 2 pharmacies and neither have had any. Do they still sell them at supermarkets or anything?

Any help is appreciated

51M expat cocktail bars / social

I’m American and just got to Prague, I’ll be here for a year on a project.

Any recommendations on good upscale bars to meet other single people, expat or otherwise, in the central area?

My hotel bar is dead quiet the three days I’ve been here.

24M thinking of doing first solo trip

Hello. I am looking to go on a solo trip for the first time. My main concern is where to go. I will be going for 4-5 days in the end of November and am currently mainly thinking about going to Prague or Berlin. Does anyone have any thoughts about these two places? Or maybe suggestions for a different place to go? Any help is appreciated as I am quite unsure on what to do at the moment.

A second concern of mine is if I will manage to fill up the time by myself. Is it hard as a first attempt at meeting new people on a solo travel trip?
