Hello,
I received a job offer in the Anděl district (marked in red on the map) with a gross salary of 75K per month.
I’m single and don’t have an extravagant lifestyle.
I’m looking for recommendations on where to live. Ideally, I’d like a one-bedroom, maybe two, without spending a fortune (15-20 K including electricity).
I’d prefer to be around 20 minutes from the city center and no more than 30 minutes from my workplace. I don’t have a car, but I noticed there’s a metro station ("Anděl") and several tram stops nearby.
Any suggestions?
Hello! I'm approaching financial responsibility for the first time in my life, so I don't really know how to move next.
In the past year and half I managed to save approximately 175k czk on a salary of ~50k gross. My goal was to build a safety fund in case I get unemployed or for some emergency (for reference, my rent is ~12k czk/mo, live with my partner, no car, no kids).
My first question is if, according to you, that's enough as a safety parachute.
I keep that money in a savings account that has very little returns (around 300czk a month). And I would like to start investing my subsequent savings in something safe but that might grant better returns.
Do you have any advice on how to navigate this?
Thank you all for your answers (if there'll be any) :)
I (33M) moved to Prague (work) My wife was supposed to join me.. she's still in our home country, and every week that passes she needs more "space"... All I can do is wait..
In the meantime, I'm here alone, with no social capacity to go to bars or meet people organically, so I just stay home. The funny thing is I never had many friends, I always considered myself introvert and I was fine being a little bit antisocial. But it feels different to be like that by choice rather than be forced to be 😂 ONS are cool and all but it feels like to much trouble, it feels weird all the effort just for "that" I'd like to find a magical way to skip all the "getting to know each other" part and go straight to the "let's just sit in the couch and watch some movies"
I don't even know if I'm asking for any help or anything, I've feeling this way for a few days and I needed to vent I think. What better place to vent than the internet to a bunch of strangers?
I’ve been on the hunt for some social bars/ pubs in Prague. I’m not one for clubs, but I am an extrovert, so I’d love some spots where I can get a drink and find new people to chat with (without weirding them out).
I’m grateful for any recs, but I do live here, so I’d especially appreciate spots that are a bit more affordable/ low key than some of the common old town and new town bars. Thanks in advance!
I was wondering does staff at forum karlin do this thing where they give people numbers/sometimes write numbers on peoples hands so they can go walk aound for a bit and not stand in the queues for concerts for hours, but at the same time the numbers mean that they don't loose their spot in the queue when doors open?
Hi all,
I am bringing my wife to your beautiful city in March of this year to celebrate her birthday and was hoping for recommendations of where I could order a birthday cake from for her? Ideally it would be a red velvet or chocolate cake with some customisations!
I think the area we are in is Prague 1 so somewhere reasonably central would be ideal.
Also if you have any recommendations of fun activities we could do on her birthday that aren’t typical sightseeing I would appreciate them!
Thanks in advance!
Hey everyone
This is my first time receiving a package here in Prague. I don’t know where to start and who to follow up with? The only thing I know is that I’m expecting a parcel from the Royal mail to be delivered to my temporary address in Prague.
The parcel is still in London under transit for a couple of days. Does that mean it’s out here? Do I need to look for it? Where ? Czech post or which company?
The other problem is that I will be leaving in 2 days so what can I do?
Any feedback is appreciated
Thanks!
Hey, I'm a big fan of rpg video games like Baldur's Gate, Disco Elysium, Planescape:Torment, Citizen Sleeper... but I never played any TTRPG in real life and would like to change it and also find some new mates.
Is there a group which is looking for new people and wouldn't mind a begginer? I'm speaking czech and english. I would prefer bi-weekly session due to my working schedule.
If you interested or have any tips I would love to hear it :-)
Ahoj, když jsem býval v Plzni, oblíbil jsem si jeden bazén. Šlo si tam normálně zaplavat a poté tam byly nějaké relaxační věci ( horká pára; nějaká vířivka; bazén s teplou vodou a trysky apod )
Doporučili byste mi něco podobného v Praze? Nejlépe kdyby tam brali Multisportku, ale nutnost to není.
Hello from Prague! 🇨🇿
I’m in town for work and loving the city but, I’ve managed to forget one key thing—my lanyard with the clear plastic ID holder. I need a replacement, but all the online options seem to come in bulk with expensive delivery fees, which feels a bit wasteful for just one.
If anyone in Prague knows where I can grab a single one locally, I’d really appreciate the help! Thanks in advance. 😊
Visiting Prague and need some recommendations? Whether you’re looking for a restaurant to propose to your significant other, a hotel with a view, or just cheap beer, this is the place to ask.
Please do not make individual post for recommendations, they will be removed
Hey guys,
So there's this huge company event in Prague. Hundreds of people, literally everyone from the Europe branch, events all day for 3 days straight. Had been rationing my Medikinet for the last week for survival reasons, cause was about to run out. Out of all the things I could possibly forget, yup, that one. It's laying In front of my mirror at home while l'm doing 130kmh in the train to Prague. Hard fml... 💀💀🫠
Does anyone here know how to get it in Prague as a German without doctor documents and not loads of time out of events by any chance? Help would be so, so, so appreciated.
Hi all! I’m thinking of bringing my parents to Prague for our family holiday and wanted to get advice and opinions. My dad wanted something with an atmosphere in the town and where you can easily walk and also hear nice street music and I wanted something where can explore beautiful nature. I made a list of possible things we can do below - are any not worth seeing ? Also what is the best way to see the nature ones below - is it through a guided tour group and are they expensive ? My dad can walk but he has restricted mobility and can’t walk for too long so is there any that wouldn’t be right for him? I love to walk and can walk for hours
We’re thinking of coming May time what is the weather like? And suggestions for specific locations in Prague to stay?

Hi, I'm a 27 year old male from the UK. I'm going on my first solo holiday this month 13-17th feb. Looking for good things to do in Prague and people who may want to meet
Do you find it funny? Sexy? Typical slavic or not? Hard to understand?
Will be relocating for a small amount of time in Prague and will be traveling very light. I won't be bringing toiletries from my home country.
Looking for recommendations for czech or slovak brand toiletries i.e. toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo etc...
I do have sensitive skin and don't care too much for fragrance. I don't have allergies but things with lots of chemicals and fragrances tend to irritate my skin.
Ahoj,

Going on a solo visit to prague from 24th to 27th Feb to chill after a stressful time. Anyone wanna meet up for a few beers on any of these nights? Just a few beers and a chat, nothing dodgy pls 🙂. I'm a harmless laid back middle aged guy by the way so if that doesnt turn your stomach feel free to dm me.. the more the merrier!
Hey, as stated above. My girfriend and I are spending our valentines weekend in Prague this year and we are looking for a cool a bit "fancier" restaurant and bar. We wanna spend a good night and dress up a bit. However it should also not break the bank costing around 50€ per person max. (talking about the restaurant)
We are staying in the center of the city, so restaurant and bar being in walkable reach would be awsome.
Any ideas? Google research has not led me to the results I was looking for. :)
Dan Brown - nová kniha To už ta Praha konečně praskne ve švech. Byla jsem v Paříži po vydání DaVinci kódu a to byl fakt masakr. Ten člověk by měl psát jen o fiktivních místech.
Hi, im visiting Prague in September and i wanted to have some recommendations for smaller clubs/bars in which people dance. Usually a place with a dj, space to dance, cute bar ect. Im not into huge clubs w 5 floors n stuff. Any recommendations?

Hi everyone.
I am working and living in Prague for last 4 years. I want to ask some questions regarding my renting contract please, just to have better understanding:
Are we obliged to pay "Údržba a úklid společných prostor domu včetně svozu odpadu"? If it depends, what is more often situation. Also can this be raised?
Same for "Fond správy budovy"?
How often and in which amount (percentage let's say) can landlord raise rent? If there is some law/rule maybe. I don't have it permanent, renewing it.
Zdravim,
Hello, if you lost a black bank card and were at Maniny tram stop today, Feb 1st, I have it safe and sound. Message me and we'll arrange how to hand it back. I know it's a far shot but worth a try someone might see this message. I will of course ask for card details and info to confirm it's your card.
Hey people of reddit!
I have 2 tickets for the event at Roxy tonight but unfortunately I can't attend and now I would sell them for cheap.
Interplanetary Criminal from the UK is playing, he is an amazing producer and DJ and I wouldve come from Vienna to see him.
Just answer to this post or DM me if you are interested!
I am trying to get relocated to Prague for work. My company (USA based) said the cost of living in Prague is severely less than the USA and I would need to take a pay cut. Based on my research housing for a decent 2 bedroom apartment in Prague is very comparable to my home town in the USA. I can see that food and utilities are less, and if you choose not to own a vehicle, that could make Prague more affordable.
Am I forgetting to account for anything? I’m curious what others think about the cost of living in Prague.
Where I can dispose empty helium tank and aerosol spray?
