So I've started writing the second chapter of my fic right? (Journey of Becoming on Royal Road) I'm seeing a trend for where the poll has decided we're going, so I have a direction now. I've got to justify that direction in-world though.

And I know how I want to do that. Problem is, there's a huge infodump at the beginning of my current draft. Like, a many paragraphs long infodump about peculiarities in Pokemon types to justify why we want a specific pokemon and thus why we're going where we're going. There's also a lot of info about the protagonist and her motivations and desires and the beginnings of a whole ass psychoanalysis, that all tie back to why we're heading that way.

And it just seems like too much, right? Like, we haven't even started walking yet and we're pages into the chapter.

So, opinions? What do I do in this situation? Do I just say something vague at the beginning of the chapter, start walking and then space out the rest of the explanation in chunks during the chapter? Do I just cope with the fact that I have to leave stuff out to make it interesting?

Those explanations make it interesting to me though! I feel like they add depth to the world and the character and make them better in the long run!

My characters need their final mons, and I have officially ran out of ideas. So I need some reccomendations.

The first one has Polteageist, Comfey and Gossifleur so far, he's basically a healer. What I need for him is a strong pokemon that was introduced in Galar, but I want something interesting and not overused (so no Dragapults or Galarian starters). I need to give him a fighter.

The second guy has a Heliolisk, Vivillon and a Honedge. I don't really need anything specific for him, I just want something interesting and underutilised. So I'm open to any suggestions, just no pseudo-legendaries or starters (or legendaries). It's fine if it's not a pokemon from Kalos, the only thing that matters here is that it CAN'T be a pokemon from Galar.

So yeah, any fun suggestions?

I'm in the process of writing a novelization for the Pokemon fan-game "Pokemon Rejuvenation". It's a cool experience that allows me to play around with a lot of different kinds of scenes and themes, but at the end of the day it is still a fanfiction of a fangame, and I feel like I'm struggling to pick up new readers.

I"ve posted on both Fanfiction as AO3, but whereas I have a lot of experience with the Fanfiction net, I feel like I still don't fully grasp how AO3 works, apart from the tagging system. I was wondering if you guys have some tips or pointers for me on how to improve in that regard? My author name is Masterdude21. Any advice would be really appreciated :D

Anyways so I came up with a concept for my worldbuilding that i plan to use but I don't know what to name it.

Basically, it was once historical custom in ancient Hisui to make a pilgrimage to each of Sinnoh's great lakes and leave an offering at the waters edge of a rare berry, then say a prayer and pay respects to the lake guardian. According to records of this ancient practice, the lake guardian might appear at some point during the pilgrimage and/or often at the end and bestow a small blessing on the traveler in return for their efforts. It was often treated as either a rite of passage or something village elders or those in a need of guidance would do.

However, I can't figure out a good title for this. So far I have names like:

Way of the Lake Guardians
Path of the Three Lakes
Spirit's Pilgrimage
Journey of the Legendary Treasures
Way of the Sacred Regalia

But I'd love to hear if someone else might have another idea. Doesn't have to follow any of those formats either.
(or if anyone knows a good direction to look into for historical records of these kinds of things)

2. Are poke balls capable of controlling Pokémon?
3. Are there real animals in the Pokémon world?
4. Are Legendary Pokémon well known?
5. Are some Pokémon still region bound like is Rookiedee only found in Galar?
6. If your fanfic involves an SI or an OC that has knowledge of the Pokémon anime and games how much do they know?
7. Does your plan for the TE system or whatever other move system make sense?
8. Can Pokémon only learn moves that they can in the games and anime or can they learn other moves?
9. What size is the Pokémon world is it large and vast or can you reach another region after a couple hours of hiking? I have seen both of these be done.
10. Are some humans capable of inhuman feats such as Aura, Psychic powers, and inhuman strength.
11. Are Pokémon trainers aware of what is going on outside of their region?
12. Have you given your Pokémon specific personalities or are they similar to animals and are not as intelligent.
13. Can Psychic Pokémon communicate with humans?
14. What are ghosts? Are they clumps of ghost energy, are they just dead people or are they something else entirely
15. How powerful are Legendaries? are they just extremely powerful beings or are they Lovecraft level entities?
16. How rare are certain Pokémon? Are starters rare and powerful Pokémon? Are pseudo legendaries rare?
17. Are pseudo legendaries considered pseudo legendaries?
18. When will your story take place compared to the Games/Anime/Manga/Etc timeline?
19. What Pokémon will your MC (and his companions if he has them) have? will they be powerful well known Pokémon, or will they be weak and become strong through the MCs tactics and training, maybe they will be shiny?
20. Will you be showing the Pokémon's perspective?
21. What region will your MC be in?
22. How will evolutions work in your fanfic? Will there be hisuin evolutions and other not well known evolutions?
23. Are fairies discovered yet?
24. How will the politics work in the Pokémon world?
25. How will you develop the culture in the pokemon world during your fanfic? things like music and games.
26. How will TMs and HMs work?

Some Questions to Ask Yourself Before answering the worldbuilding questions

1. Have you checked the pokedex entries involving the Pokémon in your story?
2. Which world is your fanfic in (Games/Anime/Manga/Etc)
3. Have you checked Bulbapedia or the Pokemon database for information on Pokémon that interest you?

Please note that these questions are just to help you have a jumping off point in worldbuilding because I have seen a lot of fanfics that struggle with this. I do not think that if you do not answer these questions you cannot make a good fanfic I simply think that answering these question will take your fanfic to the next level.

I have this idea for a story that I'd like to write.

The story happens in the early 20th century, when the war between Kalos and Galar happens. It centers around two 15 year old boys (both OCs, everyone is an OC, I ain't sending Ash Ketchum to WWI, he'll just start throwing trees at people).

Either way, these two boys have both encountered Jirachi when they were kids. After the war starts, both of them sign up for reserve units in the armies of their respective countries. They meet on the battlefield, and find out about their shared dream of finding a legend. By the time, both have started to believe Jirachi was just a figment of their imagination, they never met anyone else who had seen it. Little to say, meeting someone else who had seen Jirachi is strange for both of them, especially since they are enemies. Reluctantly, they decide to try and look for the legendary pokemon, hoping it could help them stop the war.

Like if a Ditto transformed into a Pikachu would it say “Ditto” or “Pikachu” because I feel like Dittos mimic would be useless if they couldn’t mimic their voice

I hope no one minds that I'm posting this again, since it fits the criteria of number 5 of the server rules (section 4). I haven't promoted this story in a while in here, but I had been working on this story for a full year as of today which is a pretty big milestone for me. A year of putting my heart and soul into giving some backstories to the elites, gym leaders, and champions of Kanto through Unova that they absolutely deserve. I originally wrote this to study the morality of these characters, these NPCs we see in the games, and build a narrative on them outside the games. When you interact with them as the protagonist, they are interacting with a child, so I was curious to see how these characters with interact with others, notably the adults around them which in this story includes other league members within their region and without. It's currently 55 chapters in, out of a total of 70.

Update Schedule: Every two weeks on Monday's.

Summary: One could be chosen to be a member of a League in their respective region for many reasons. Some planned on it. Some did not. Plenty were kind. Several were nasty. Most of them were somewhere in-between. These are the stories behind the elites and gym leaders of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova - and how they achieved greatness. Will go in chronological order of when they received their titles.

The leagues were competitive with each other. This system was created long ago to ensure "friendly competition" so that another world region war wouldn't break out between each other like the last time. The Indigo League starts as the best. Unova's education system is nothing to joke about. Hoenn couldn't give less of a damn. Sinnoh's considered a laughingstock with nothing to lose. But as the years go by and things start to change, their competition becomes not-so-friendly. Generational trauma doesn't simply go away. It stays buried deep down, but stirs slowly, and before you know it, the five regions are like barrels of gunpowder, ready to burst.

If you like:

- Competitiveness between the leagues of Indigo (with Johto), Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova, with Sinnoh having an underdog story that had been dubbed as the worst region in battling until Bertha and later Cynthia shapes their trainers to be great.
- Backstories about the gym leaders and elites, each character getting a chapter to themselves while still having an ongoing plot of the competition, as these are not just one-shots of each character. Each character is cycled every chapter to keep the story going.
-Rivalries between characters from differing leagues, and sometimes, it's not friendly at all.
-How elites obtain legendary status and influence throughout the years (i.e, Agatha, Bertha etc,.)
- Morally ambiguous champions, elites, and gym leaders. You may not agree with the choices that they make, but hopefully understand why they would make these choices. The choices can be good, can be bad, depending on the reader's POV and will possibly have the readers visit their own morals and what it means to them. Diving deep into the characters and psychology of what they do, and why they do it.
- Friendships between characters in the same league, in some cases found family, and a bit of romance that's touched upon.
- Mentorships between characters, such as Agatha and Lance, Bertha and Lucian, Juan and Wallace, Pryce and Lorelei, to name a few.
-Every league's POV when the events of the games go down, (Rocket, Magma, Galactic, etc,.)
-Tensions slowly building between the regions as the competition begins to change.
