Not only is 120 HP a lot (compared with the other basic pkms from the deck), but also can it give an additional energy - PER TURN?! - to any Pokemon. That's extremely strong given that you can usually just put out one engergy card per turn, right? Aaaand it also causes 30 dmg to the opponent which isn't little for basic Pkm.
I am not new to trading card games since I play magic the gathering but I am new to the pokémon trading card game. I am not needing highly competitive decks, but I do want something that is fun to play with. I bought the Mel metal Mewtwo starter decks to learn how to play with him, but most of the cards seemed very bland without many interesting effects and synergy. Thankfully before I played with him, I tried a few rounds on pokémon live to get a basic understanding of the rules and I was able to get more of the full experience, otherwise, I likely would have come to the conclusion that the pokémon card game is boring. I know some people use proxies to play recreationally on a budget, but I know it means a lot to my son to have the actual cards.
Intermediate level player here, i am just confused because I thought the main strategy of the deck was to use the Genesect V’s ability and keep drawing cards. How can this happen when the stadium in play disables this ability?
Hey all! I have been playing the tcg since the start of the SV block and have been slowly but surely learning and improving my game sense and strategies. I have been somewhat puzzled over the lack of discussion surrounding Galvantula ex from Stellar Crown and was wondering why that is. I think the card is pretty solid with a lot of conceptual support in its own set and gets even better with the release of Surging Sparks imo. I have a prospective decklist that ive been woodshedding over the last week and wanted to know what strategies more experienced players would use for that concept or even reasons as to why the deck concept might not be successful and/or what holds the card back.
of course we only have the prereleases and the set lists to go on right now, but wondering how you all think it will fair once surging sparks fully drops
My wife and I play pokemon tcg just about every day before I goto work and our score is 9-17. I'm 9 wins and I cannot figure out how I'm losing so many times when the matchup is like 60% in favour of palkia. My normal strat is to just bring out froakie and rush greninja ex but she bosses orders around gren. Any advice? Also what's your thoughts on who's favoured
My favorite type in the video games is poison which is placed into Darkness mostly in the tcg. I am trying to find a deck that utilizes poison type pokemon as the main focus and could use suggestions. I've tried a deck based upon yhr loyal three ex but no list I've seen really feels good despite the concept feeling fine.
I don't need a deck that is amazing by any means, just something for my locals and to play around with on Live

Hi I am fairly new to TCG and this is the first deck I have made from scratch and wanted opinions on it I had recently asked for opinions on a Kingdra deck and this is a new deck with the suggestions I got but was wondering if there’s anything else I should change about it before I got and spend gems on the deck on TCG LIVE.
One thing I am unsure about is the amount of baxcalibur I have because I don’t know if I have enough added into the deck and whether I have too many of the Kingdra ex and horsea cards in my deck. Also I’m unsure whether I have too little energy cards because of Kingdras attack that is dependent on the amount of energy it has attached to it
Good Day,
long time MTG player but new to pokemon, recently bought the Gardevoir EX League deck and have been playing this list on TCGLive: https://limitlesstcg.com/decks/list/13485
I'm struggling a bit with this deck, it seems very easily disrupted and i'm not exactly sure how to approach the setup to get it online.
Alright, So I got my deck, and the only upgrade I made is switching out a zeraora with another free miraidon ex they gave me. Without getting upgrades yet, how am I supposed to play it? any video guides or something?
For those who went to pre-release already, mine is this Friday and I was wondering if you have any advice/strats or pulls to look out for that could make an impact. (Not a new player)
Just curious as to how long someone might realistically play the same deck (breaks are allowed) and how fast someone might abandon a deck they thought could be for them.
I'm looking to improve at the game, though I'm struggling to do so. I took some advice from this sub a couple months ago, and copied a top 8 deck verbatim to learn how it works - now though, I'm looking for advice as to how to improve at deckbuilding as well.
BTW, I've been playing card games for a long time and PTCG for a few years, and it's really frustrating when you can't improve. I'm trying to alleviate that frustration.
Thanks.

Hey, new to the game, looking for some rogue decks/meme deck videos or youtubers if there're some in this community. In general, just popular pkmn tcg channels would be appreciated too. Since I love deckbuilding the most, I've been kinda missing that kinda playstyle in which the goal is not necessarily winning, just making stupid stuff.
is this auto loose?? it disables the entire decks engine.. i feel like its auto lose? anyway for me to play around it?
Assuming it’s Jessie Parker list or the Area Zero Underdepths route with the eventual upgrades of Terra Pikachu ex and Magneton as examples. Besides the obvious route of Miraidon to setup board for Raikou V + Area Zero or Iron Hands ex Amp you very much. How should I play Miraidon if I’m going first or Iron Hands ex is stuck in active?
I really love grass type but they have little love in this current meta. From what I know the best ones are either Toedscruel and Hydrapple EX.
I've taken a look at Azul's tier list (Haven't watched the video proper yet). I played Lugia and Future turbo hands, btw. What happened to zard, lost zone Giratina/box and turbo iron hands?
I posted not long ago about advice going to my first tourney, well after 4 challenges i’ve finally placed T4!
Finished 3/39 using gholdengo against a very bolt and lugia filled challenge going 4-0-2.
Finally getting CP and good prizing has set my competitive itch through the roof.
Thanks again to anyone who helped me with my pre-challenge nerves!
I've faced one control deck before and I hated it, it's so annoying to play against. But recently I saw a video by Alloutblitzle and decided to try his Pidgeot control deck to see how it works, and it's incredibly strong! The biggest problem is that in the games I've played so far multiple times I got my opponent retreat locked and they have no more switches/Penny's/turo but they will just sit and pass over and over until they deck out to waste my time. I mean when I faced control I wanted to do that too, but now that ive played it I realize that it's just a whole different strategy. I was able to get to master league for the 2nd time easily with it and it seems to have great matchups against a lot of meta decks, but is it just too toxic?

This s my kingdra ex deck this is the first deck I have built from scratch so improvements would be greatly appreciated I’m not 100% sure on the pidgey and pidgeot in this deck but I’m just so confused and I’m fairly new to TCG I have played a bunch using an upgraded Charizard ex deck which I have gotten used to but I’m not confident on building them from scratch
With pikachu coming in the next set and that it’s a basic Pokemon with a great ability. Is there any chance for cinderace to ever get any play or something to help it out. I really love cinderace but it’s looking like it’ll never be anything but a paperweight 💔. Also does creatures hate fire types or something like damn. Why does it seem like every “maybe” useable fire type has this awkward three fire energy charge? Idk just want some cool Pokemon to be meta.
Hi all! I've been having a blast playing Pokemon TCG with my niece and nephew for the past year. I know the vintage Pokemon are much weaker than modern ones, but I wanted to try to beat their modern cards with my vintage cards from when I was a kid.
Wanted to post here to see if anybody had any experience with this. I figure Pokemon like Mr. Mime and Ditto would work out against modern Pokemon. Also have Fossil Gastly to further stall and Wigglytuff to deal with smaller HP Pokemon they have and accelerate Mr. Mime's Meditate more. I'll also be using the broken trainers like Bill, Professor Oak, Gust of Wind, Energy Removal, Super Energy Removal, and Item Finder.
The kids play casually and only play with what they open, so they aren't using meta decks though they do have EX pokemon.
Has anybody tried this before and made a deck that can keep up with modern Pokemon cards? Thanks in advance!
...what would you buy to get into the game?
Need help optimizing this slowking deck I’ve been working on. Has been very fun to play and can take some impressive wins but struggles with going first and getting set up fast enough consistently.
If anyone has suggestions on what to add/change that would be helpful.

Hi all. I've been having a lot of fun learning the game with Gardy, and I'm looking to get my first Ace Spec.
Unfair Stamp seems to be a favorite, but I need to understand why is it so good?
My impression of the card is that it is maybe too slow? If I go first, I'll probably be able to use it during my 3rd turn. At this point, my opponent will already have set up their board.
So is it really that impactful to turn their hand to 2?
From what I've seen, some decks care more about getting their hand shuffled, and other are basically unaffected.
So I need some advice on how to use the card, when it's the most impactful etc.
Hey all i play Gholdengo EX and i have a really hard time dealing with Mimikyu--the only way i can really get rid of it is with Mew EX Genome Hacking but that takes way too long to set up and it's costing me games.
Basically i need a 1-of card with low or no retreat cost that can quickly dispose of Mimikyu so i can get back to crushing shit with Gholdengo. Ideally itd be able to do this in one turn, uses psychic/metal/colorless energy for its attack, and in a mega perfect world wont be completely useless to the deck otherwise. I tried searching the database but im not really seeing anything that can do this in one turn, but if anyone can think of something i may have missed im all ears.
Just wondering what cards are going to be a good addition to the meta or decks. On my side Tera Ball and Surfer looks extremely good cards to accelerate. What about you?
Can this be implemented? maybe with just two magnemite and one to two magneton and some hyperballs? additionally to your 4 electric generators?
additionally to being a much more reliable form of energy acceleration it could enable the inclusion of counter catchers, lead to more worry-free squawk and seizes and give Miraidon something meaningful to do (putting both Magnetite on the bench) when going first when it has to.
miraidon should not mind too much giving up a singular price card as it mostly offers rather squishy two pricers anyways.
what are your thoughts?
Here are the facts:
Snorlax Doll lowers the odds of a forced mulligan and can be played in the active when setting up. In fact if you open only Snorlax Doll, the mulligan is optional (based on PTCGL). However, Snorlax Doll can only be played in set up and is a dead card otherwise. Snorlax Doll also goes to the discard which doesn't matter much as it is not usable otherwise. Lillie's Pokedoll cannot be be played in the active during set up and does not lower the chances of a mulligan. Lillie's Pokedoll only has 30Hp which means it would likely be knocked out with one hit, where Snorlax Doll allows more control over when to switch in your Pokemon. Lillie's Pokedoll can be used at any turn and shuffles itself back into the deck.
