I once fought valiantly to erase your kind from the pages of history. Periwinkles may be ugly, stupid, and incompetent, but I now understand that was never your fault. You were born that way. I am sure most everybody who is reading this already knows what this post is about. If not, please read this. TL;DR: Reddit is going to start charging exorbitant costs for use of its API, which was previously free, starting July 1st. This will price out every third party phone app used to access reddit, such as Apollo, RIF, and the one I use when I'm out and about, Boost. The intent of this is to funnel everyone to their official app, which sucks, serves a bunch of ads, and spies on you incessantly. Fuck that.

What I am personally worried about is the loss of Reddit Enhancement Suite for Old Reddit. I have also heard that the mod tools in New Reddit are terrible and inadequate. In short, everyone is going to have a worse experience on reddit because of greed. I know damn well that if I lose old reddit, I'm done with this platform. I know other subreddits are planning a blackout. I don't really see the point of joining, since we basically have nothing to black out.

I know all of us here have had some really fun times on reddit. I sure did. But it may be time to move on. I ended up checking out the lemmy project, which is a reddit clone that is part of the Fediverse(with stuff like Mastodon, Pixelfed, Friendica, etc.). The instance I joined, beehaw.org, is super nice. I definitely recommend it. Reddit is not going to get any better from here on out. They are going to do their very best to monetize everything they can out of us. Reddit is not the future.

How are you all doing? Sad to see the sub being pretty much dead, but doesn't stop us from checking up on eachother once in while.

I know it's been a while... generations have lived and died since the great war was thrust upon our realm by those Orangered savages. The war was brutal. Friends, families, allies, pinned against each other within minutes after April 1st, 2013. A net of confusion was cast over all of us at the time, all we knew was we were filled with a deep rage. And the hats.... by god the fuckin hats. Piles of hats smothering poor OPs that were just trying to understand. If you didn't adapt, if you didn't EMBRACE the one true color... you would have drowned in a sea of the worst color combination known to man. Orange, and red... Yet despite our best efforts, despite the most brutal counter attacks, the Orangered armies conquered us all.

Many of those who survived have forgotten, others were born into a world unknowing the sacrifice us brave Periwinkles gave to keep them safe. The war has long been over, but the ruins of a land once blue can be found if you know where to look. Orangered propaganda continues to plaque the minds of those curious enough to seek answers. A spin of the truth about what happened, that they won fair and square, that we just laid down our arms and embraced their reign...

It's time that changes. The truth needs to come out, and the propagandist savages must pay for the Periwinkle blood spilled. It's time to raise awareness, to form an army, and to take back our lands. It's time to reignite the fires, to forge new weapons, and to fight back against the Orangered scum.

Orangered moderator here, it has been a long time since I've spoken to many of you but I miss it dearly! We had so much fun and I know we've all moved on but I want to help fill the void that this game may have left. If you miss a reddit game with a bot where you put in a bunch of numbers and win (but without all the math) here's the solution: /r/FakeCollegeFootball. It's a Reddit game that deals solely with college football. Essentially you guess a number between 1-1500, as does the defense, and how close the number is to the defense a certain play happens. You play a full game/season like this. And this isn't just limited to the gameplay - we have built a full community around this, with a weekly poll, bowl games and the Playoff, a coaching carousel, and much more.

We've never advertised here before and a lot of our user base has come from other reddit subs. While we often have posted ads in the middle of the season when only a couple teams are open, this one is different. Right now, you can jump into a game pretty much right away with our well-developed and active FCS. The FCS is like a minor league here, a place to play while you wait for an FBS team to open up and get promoted midseason, except there are over a hundred other coaches there to keep you company and play games just as thrilling as those in the FBS. Due to having the FCS nearly full, we've opened up D2, but FCS teams will be filled first before D2, so sign up for FCS teams first. However you don't have to move up to FBS if you don't want to, I'm a VP of the FCS and I love it and intend to stay there forever.

Note that at the time of this posting we're between weeks. You won't be put into a game until the new week starts on Wednesday, but you are welcome to find someone to scrimmage before then. If you were to join midweek, you'd be able to play right away, however.

One of my personal favorite parts of how this league works is that P5/G5 standing, or IRL standing in general, means nothing. Our national champion was #7 Marshall, who defeated #1 Missouri 34-31 in a triple overtime thriller. The only thing that dictates how well you perform is your own skill at guessing numbers - though doing it strategically is harder than it looks.

IMPORTANT: Looking at the user database, you will see that most teams are listed as taken. Anything in the regular FCS listed as available is obviously open for the taking unless someone beat you to it, as well as anything listed as double dipping. Suspended schools could come open soon, but are not immediately available (a team is placed under that category if their coach disappeared at some point midweek). If this all is too confusing for you, join the Discord first and someone will be happy to help you through the signup process!
