GPU gets to 84c playing War Thunder

started about 3/4 days ago i usually run the game at 140 FPS but lately its been dropping to 60 then every few seconds drops to 20 then back up to 60 then down again and it makes an almost "grinding" noise. checking the GPU temp via the task manager is see that it gets too 84c. Do i need a new GPU?

What would happen to my pc if I don't clean it up for 4 years

I got my pc at my 13th birthday and in about a month I'm turning 17 yet I never cleaned my pc and I have been thinking about cleaning it for almost a year and a half but I always forget to do so. I heard that not cleaning your pc for a long time can cause damage but I'm not sure to what extent and how often I should clean it so could someone please tell me how much my pc was "harmed" by these 4 years of not cleaning as well as how often I'm supposed to clean it up and where to find a good cleaning tutorial?

Boot looping when I plugged the 4 pin connector

Specs is Intel i5-6400 Asus h110m-d 2x4gb Samsung DDR4

My pc keeps boot looping everytime I press the power button I unplugged everything except for the 4 pin, 24 pin, cpu and ram But it's still boot looping I tried unplugging the 4 pin and it powers on but since the 4 pin is not connected there's no display I tried to remove the CMOS battery for half an hour Still boot looping

Everytime I plugged the 4 pin back in, it just keeps boot looping every half a second to 5 seconds It doesn't even reach the bios

Haven't tweak anything since I just got it from trading I really need help, I'm using it for my school works

TV for Monitor vs Monitor

Hello all,

I have a question regarding the purchase of a new monitor, or potentially a TV, but am curious about what the downsides will be, as I have to imagine there are some but I don't know enough to know what they would be.

I am looking at two options, one is a 144hz 4k 32 inch monitor for almost $800 Australian, vs a TV which is 144hz 4k but 43 inches for about $440 Australian.

Obviously the price makes me curious about how a TV will perform, as the specs say it will run at 144hz when plugged into a PC, but what then are the downsides? Surely there must be some I'm missing here.

Thanks.

I5 13600KF having 100celsius temps when benchmarking

Hello all,

I've been having issue when I benchmark with CPU-Z on my I5 13600KF. I tried puting new thermal paste and doing an new loop on the CPU cooler to see if the temps change. At 100% load the temps goes to 100celsius instantly and doesn't go down. The Pump seem working and the water into the pump does feel hotter when I put my hand on the cable. They also both vibrating.

In game, the temps never goes higher then 80 degrees but only using 40-60% load while playing game. While being on desktop or working the temps are around 31-33 degrees.

Here are the spec of the computer
i5 13600kf

Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240L ARGB V2 cpu cooler

Asus TUF Gaming Z790-PLUS WIFI

Samsung 870 EVO 1tb c: drive

32 gb 6000hz DDR5 ram

Geforce 4070

windows 11

Here is my result with userbenchmark test https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/69006917

As my research goes, I will try to sit my watercooler on a Anti-Bending Buckle Pressure Plate. Will only receive it tomorrow, but while waiting, I dont mind trying something new if you guys have any idea.

Here is the loop I did. I also did it on the other side. Going from left cpu side to top right heatsink. Same result. https://imgur.com/a/0MjIdhu

Edit : Here is the link for the temps and 100% workload. https://imgur.com/a/Kgo1VLv

Not-ideal temps on a Z790 Aorus Elite AX v1.1 with a i7 13700k

Hi everybody! First of all, thanks in advance for all your help. This thing is driving me nuts.

Disclaimer: I'm not a native English speaker.

Here's my setup:

CPU: Intel Core i7 13700K
Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX rev 1.1 with latest BIOS (FK)
RAM: 32 GB (2x16 Corsair Vengenace at 5600 MHz XMP
VGA: Gigabyte GeForce 4070 RTX Ti
PSU: Cooler Master 1200W modular
Case: Cooler Master CM 690 III

I've been building systems for years, and I've bought and assembled this rig last year.

System runs fine, stability-wise, but I'm a little worried about temps, and more so about noise. My system idles at around 42-45°C, and gets to 80-85°C while under heavy load, and I really think these should be lower on this setup, so I've come here looking for help, after searching around on-and-off for months looking for long-term solutions.

I think these temps are a little high. I'm not 100% sure if I applied the thermal paste correctly, and can't remember if I used my Arctic MX-4 tube or the paste bundled with the Peerless Assassin.

I've tried following the instructions on this post, but things have barely changed. Plus there were some settings I wasn't able to find on my BIOS, though I know we have different motherboards.

I'm trying to undervolt, currently at -0.062V withouth problems, but temps are the same. I should add that I know this CPU runs on the hotter side.

My goal is to reduce temps and, hopefully, to reduce fan noise when CPUs gets heated up. I don't mind losing a teensy bit of performance.

So, my questions are:

  • Should I reset the cooler and re-apply paste?
  • Should I disable E-cores?
  • Should I use Intel's new "Performance" settings, or Gigabyte's "PerfDrive" settings?
  • Should I load "Optimized defaults" for my BIOS and start from there?
  • Are there any particular recommendations you would give me in this situation for improving temperatures?

Once again, thanks for all your help in advance.

Green flickering dots on screen

I've been getting flickering green dots all over my screen that move when I move my mouse or anything on screen. The only exceptions where the dots aren't present are small windows that are in front of all other windows.

I've switching HDMI cables, tried a different monitor, reinstalled my graphics drivers with DDU and motherboard drivers with no resolve. GeForce RTX 2060 Super. There was a new driver update yesterday but I already tried using a version from before.

GPU is detected on device manager but has a ⚠️ with "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". Along with "metadata staging failed" and "miniport driver failed to start device wirh status 3221225626"

My monitor is being detected but has a max refresh rate of 1Hz. Is my GPU done for? What other options can I try?

Screen went black. Pc boots as normal but no display signal

Hi, I was using my PC as per normal and suddenly the screen just went black. Both my monitors and then displayed no signal. I restarted pc via button although this simply rebooted but no display. I have tried most common trouble shooting such as reseating GPU, clearing dust, reseating ram, clearing CMOS and using different cables etc. I am at a loss on what to do now I have no onboard graphics so cannot roll back drivers etc (if I am able to do this please let me know). Right in the middle of uni work and this happens. Here are my specs 10400F 6C/12T 4.3GHz | RX 6700XT 12GB | 16GB 3600MHz DDR4 | 500GB NVME | WIN 11

My COD HQ Keeps Crashing After New Windows Update, was fine earlier

This kept happening after the newest windows 11 update, I'm not sure why it's doing this but I checked my other games like BO3, Destiny 2, hell even Warframe and they run perfectly fine. Maybe it's a COD HQ issue, I'm not entirely sure because I verified the game files via Steam and even uninstalled COD HQ twice and it keeps crashing. It's not even getting past the intro and just crashes with the message "Let Steam Verify Game Files"

G-sync not working properly on my LG 27UL550P

My new pc (7800x3D/4070S) is hooked up to an LG 4K monitor which has an adaptive sync window of 40 to 61hz, however when it goes below max refresh it judders. It's like every other frame is persisting too long. I have gsync compatibility set up properly with the bottom tickbox enabled.

I've tried several display port and hdmi cables (ones that came with the monitor as well as brand new DP1.4), Vsync on/off setting the recommended 58fps for gsync window just makes it happen all the time.

Drivers have been rolled back a couple of times, this happens in DX11 and DX12 titles (tested are Halo Reach, Helldivers 2, and Dead Space Remake).

Any help would be appreciated!

PC no longer works since HDD connection.

I Have a great problem, I had an old hdd in the closet, this I wanted to connect to my pc to see if data are on it, this HDD was not recognized. I've stuck this hdd off again and rebooted my pc again and now my pc no longer get a signal to my monitors. All 3x monitors don't get a signal. I tried all the slots of the gpu and also the IGPU on the mainboard but no signal. it can't be that all 3x monitors are broken. all ports I have controlled like atx plug graphic cards power connector, as well as cmos battery resett and jumper resett. None of it works. the pc starts and the fans turn on but there is no signal, at the beginning of the boot process the lights glow status LED of the motherboard at BOOT and VGA turns on but after 10 seconds fades away, then the fans turn quietly but continue and the screen remains black. I Tried to stick all ram sticks off but there was still no signal. with 1x ram stick i get the same result. i also tried to stick the gpu off and connect the monitor to the igpu slot on the mainboard but this dont work too. i also tried to stick everything off like mouse, keyboard, gpu, and some HDD and SSD but still same result. my hopes are fading away and i see no more possibilites how to solve this problem.

edit: also tried to boot WIN11 from a USB bootstick at the start, but i still get a black screen.

my pc:

Ryzen 7800X3D

64GB DDR5 Ram

RTX 2080

B650 Pro RS

hope someone can help me.

Is it true that if you disable core 0 for the game specifically, in nearly all games they run better?

I heard most windows tasks run in core 0, and in addition to that most tasks from the game itself also run in core 0.

So disabling core 0 for the game using task manager or else, would mean the game does not schedule tasks to be solved with core 0, making the game run better.

It seems to be an old known trick, but I wonder if its worth it or if its just a bad idea in general.

Pc black screens for 1 second than whatever task I'm currently doing crashes

As of 2 days ago, my computer has decided to start displaying a black screen for roughly 1 second and crashing anything that I'm currently focused on. Any game will crash, google will crash, and open task that I'm using at that current moment crashes. I'm at a loss of where to even start looking for a problem? It happens completely randomly, maybe once every few hours.

alt-tapping is causing me gaming issues.

I play two games that give me these issues. World of Warcraft (retail) and black-ops warzone. Anytime I alt-tap WoW will freeze on me when I try to tap back into it. The game doesn't crash but it will freeze for good 10-20 seconds. I built my PC last year I just kept my old GPU (2070 super). I've been playing since and I haven't had any of these issues until the last couple of weeks. Warzone will straight up crash and give me a direct X error code (0x887a0005). warzone will crash even without alt-tapping in this manner. I'm at a loss for what to do. I reinstalled Windows and everything and still have them. is this likely a hardware issue? I'm not sure what to do

BTW when WoW freezes and comes back it will do some distortion negative color flash thing for a second

PC Randomly Restarting || R7 5700X3D/5800X3D with RTX3090

(This post is kind of a two part question so please bare with me)
here is my pc build for reference my pcpartpicker build list

So I'm pretty sure my Ryzen 5 3600X is sickly and dying (PC can stay on for maybe 5-10 minutes before restarting itself). I went through system error messages and it said this (from what I remember).

"A fatal hardware error has occurred. Reported by component: Processor Core"
I cannot go in and check again because it wont let me login because too many shutdowns have occurred so sorry about the short error message.

I have been doing a lot of research and over the past year my ive replaced/upgraded some parts for varying reasons; Noctua NH-D121, RTX3090 and a B550 tomahawk.

As for the PSU I have recently purchased a Super Flower Leadex Platinum 850 W 80+ Platinum that has a free return and refund so I will be sending that back since the problem of randomly restarting has continued.

I really need some second opinions about how to fix the random restarting problem as its been as ongoing problem for a long time and I am at my wits end. If it is my CPU that needs replacing then I am looking for suggestions. I know for the AM4 chipset, R7 5700X3D and R7 5800X3D are pretty good but can't figure out if the 5800X3D is just so much better that it warrants spending 457$ CAD VS a much more reasonable 299$ CAD for the 5700X3D.

Visual glitch on Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition Power Wheel

Hello folks! I hope you’re all well. I'd appreciate some advice on a puzzling issue I'm facing with Mass Effect Legendary Edition when I click a power from R1 (Power Wheel):

  1. At the click of selecting a power while holding R1, the power wheel of the squad, the game switches from full-screen mode to a form of windowed mode.

  2. Depending on what screen mode I have selected in the game, the switch can look like windowed mode as I mentioned in (1) or it can just flicker everytime I click a power or the slot a future power will be in.

This issue is only happening with Mass Effect and I have no issue with any other game. Please note this seems to be a controller only issue.

Im not sure the issue is clear from the above description so I uploaded an example of this issue here: https://imgur.com/a/UgnLTCu

I would appreciate any support. Thank you in advance.

Fps in AC: Syndicate

Hello, I am quiet new to this sub, I have some concers about my PC and I wanted to ask if Assassin's Creed Syndicate runs the same on your similiar setups as mine.

I have an RTX 3070, i5 13600k and 32 GB RAM.

It seems to average around 130fps, it goes as alow as 118 and at most to around 180-200 depending on the weather and time of day.

I play on the Very High preset. I wanted to know if it's normal for the game to run like that because as far as I remember it uses to avg around 160fps and now it averages 140fps or maybe lower.

I hereby attach my benchmark test: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/68946920

rtx 4070 super + ryzen 5 5600 problems

So recently I bought the rtx 4070 super to pair with my ryzen 5 5600 since I watched benchmark videos on YouTube with that pair and it seemed pretty good, but for some reason in some games my gpu is pretty much at 0% usage while my cpu is around 80-100% usage and the performance is okay but it I feel like it should be running much better. On The Last of Us, mmy cpu usage is always at 100 unless I cap the frames to 60 which makes it run at 80% usage and with Fortnite, the cpu runs at around 80% in battle royale and the gpu usage is practically non existent also. The only game that's really utilized both my gpu and cpu well is Phasmophobia with around 60% gpu usage and 30% cpu usage if my memory is correct. GTA 5 already runs well with 90 - 120fps which is great but the gpu was still holding back and the cpu was being used way more and the fps was way better on the benchmark videos. I've tried almost everything to fix these issues but haven't really had any success and I just don't understand what the issue could possibly be.

I'm also playing at 1080p so that may cause a bottleneck but I feel like it shouldn't be that bad. All of my drivers are up to date too so that's not the issue. Do I need to upgrade my cpu? I haven't really had it for long though.

GPU: RTX 4070 Super 12gb
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
Ram: 16gb
Operating System: Windows 10

Is it normal for my laptop fan to run nonstop when gaming? (Gaming on non-gaming laptop)

Hi everyone, I’m playing GTA 5 on my ASUS VivoBook S14 (Intel Iris Xe graphics, 128 VRAM, 16GB RAM, and 8GB shared graphics memory).

The game runs smoothly, but the fan is always on and blowing out warm air the whole time I play. (can hear loud sound of fan too)

The laptop doesn’t get very hot, just warm, but I’m wondering if it’s okay for the fan to keep running like this since it’s not a gaming laptop and I don't know much about computer hardware and those graphics things.

Should I be concerned, or is this normal?

Input or audio lags + micro stutters in games

So a while ago I started to notice major input lags from my keyboard, repeating audio on Spotify while gaming and minor fps drops every now and then for a few seconds ingame. I knew my hardware should not be the problem as I am playing with an RTX 4090 and an Ryzen 9 7950x3D. I noticed the input lags only in online games but in offline games there was, every second and a half or so, one input that would not be registered (from my keyboard). I was extremely frustrated as I did not get the problem at all, tried everything, except I didn’t.

Long story short:

If this sounds familiar and you have Norton 360 for Gamers installed with Game Optimizer turned on, then turn it off. Maybe you completely forgot about it, like I did, but that „feature“ probably destroys your performance completely.

Just wanted to put that out there because I searched for ages with no real clue.

Low FPS in-game despite low hardware utilization – understanding the bottleneck

Hi everybody,

I’m experiencing some frustrating performance issues in games, specifically in WoW as an example here. During intense gameplay moments (big teamfights), my FPS drops and stays around 19-20 FPS, which makes it quite hard to play smoothly.

The confusing part is that when I check Task Manager, none of my components (CPU, RAM, GPU, internet connection, or disk usage) are being maxed out. Every single one of them sits well under 60% usage, yet my FPS won’t go any higher in these intense scenes.

So my question is: if none of my hardware components are fully utilized, why are my FPS so low? What could be causing this bottleneck?

Here’s a bit of info on my system and the average usage of each during those phases for context:

  • CPU: i7-9700k/3.6Ghz (Used at ~60%)
  • GPU: RTX 2070 Super 8Go (Used at ~25% and run around 55°C)
  • RAM: 32 Go 2133 Mhz (Used at 51%)
  • Storage: Cruxial MX500 SSD (Sata) (Used at 17%)
  • Screen: (If it has anything to do) : PG259QNR 360Hz 1080p

I’ve tried lowering the game settings, checking for background processes, and updating drivers, but nothing seems to fix this cap. I’d really appreciate any insights or advice on what else I might look into.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Software messing with 2.4GHz wireless mouse connection????

Basically, I have been having tons of computer issues and what not. I had been having jittery and messed up mouse movements with my wireless mouse (Glorious model o2 pro) for a while, and played with it wired because of it. Mouse movements were jittery and erratic, I thought the sensor was messed up. I reformatted my SSD, reinstalled windows, and my mouse was working perfectly fine wirelessly. But, after replacing all of my files back onto my drive (I had backed them up before formatting the disk) my mouse immediately went back to the jittery movements. It is likely not a mouse issue because this has happened with two separate mice that the sensors work on.

I am thinking that there is some software in my drive that is messing with the 2.4Ghz connection with my mouse. Does this even make sense?? I have not found anything online about this issue.

Screen Flickering while gaming.

Sometimes when I’m playing some games, the display randomly flickers between the game and the desktop background for a brief moment. This started recently, and I don't know if it's me, but I also feel a performance drop on FPS in those games in which it happens.

All my drivers are up to date, and all updates as well. I really don’t know what it could be. I've tried using a new Display Port cord, a different monitor and even a different GPU, but the issue persists. I don't know what could be at this point.

Here I have a video example: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ndm_kjNNey1XKaknpD8aQ_rQIisxdduI/view?usp=sharing
