The television show Party Down was originally broadcast '09-'10 on the starz network and was canceled after its second season.
It is a really funny show that many recognizable and awesome people helped create and you should watch it right now or later or again.
2021: Rumors of a Season 3 begin to swirl

The new characters. I didn't warm to any of them. Their relationships with the existing ones just came off kinda hammy to me. The artistic chef was way too slapstick-y for me, felt like watching a cartoon character. Tiktok guy was alright but meh. Jennifer Garner's character was just kinda....there. James Marsden too. And the Henry's interactions with the kids are pretty boring too. I spent virtually all the time when they were talking to him wishing we could just hear Roman and Kyle bicker or something.
In fairness, 6 eps while doing a bit of fan service isn't actually of time to build them up. Still, 1 of the many things that made the first 2 seasons so good was how the main cast talked to each other. They all had their little relationships and ways of speaking with each other.
All in all, decent reboot imo though. Plenty get it far worse. Although I disliked the 3rd ep a lot. Always makes me cringe a bit when reboots suddenly feel like they need to suddenly start using 'woke, globalist, canceled, alt-right' etc. It just dates the show to me. That, and I thought a lot of the back n forths in that episode were bad Kyle and fake protesters especially).
He sold it but then in the last episode he said he lost it? Confused as to what happened.
Comparing these two because I think a lot of people start watching PD because of Adam Scott
I've been rewatching both series recently and honestly P&R doesn't really make me laugh anymore? It's very quirky 2012 Tumblr humor, whereas the jokes in Party Down are timeless and I find myself laughing out loud. I suppose it also helps that Party Down had less episodes so the writers didn't have time to get lazy.
I hope I don't get lynched lol
the first act of what?
We saw this at Toon Lagoon in USIoA and of course thought of this show.
But now I've joined. So that's an RDD.
It's pretty hard sci-fi.
im curious about what most peoples' favorite episode is. i think mine is the pepper mcmasters one, though it's hard for me to choose
Mine was when he flicked Kyle's tooth. What a clever asshole move
Hi there fellow catering crew!
Best quote from this fantastic episode??
Ron is talking to that fat cop with the beard. The cop says "yeah OK I've got some real funking work to do"
Cracks me up every time!!
Kinda noticed it couple episodes in on s2 and can not unhear it, its so uncanny, their voices are exactly the same.
Just started watching and binged to ep 8, wanted something with similar comedy style as Veep. I wanted to ask how did they get so many star guests even at the start of the show or were this actors not that popular back then, every episode I recognized almost any actor that has a speaking part
I am currently on Season 1, episode 6 and the only complaint I have is the budding romance between Lizzy Caplan and Adam Scott. Adam Scott's character is coming on too strong. He kissed her and said "Do you still like me?" and she is kinda annoying with him too. It seems like they only care about each other and I want them to be more ensemble. I wish they didn't focus on them as a couple specifically, too much. Separately, they are fine. I mean I haven't gotten a chance to really see them interact with other staff as much. I wish every story didn't have to have this need for budding romances. This happened too quickly out of the gate.
So far one of the funniest moments was when JK Simmons says "you're a girl, right?" and pulls back Jane Lynch's jacket to make sure she had boobs. Inappropriate? yes, but funny. I'm a woman and not offended.
I think of her holding a comically large bag of shrooms
Impressive range
“We ignore everything you’ve done for western ideals, and instead just talk about when you peed in a cup at a Dodgers game and spilled it on a little girl….”
