Found this very interesting as an onion lover
If it’s some kind of protein meal you better believe I’m gonna have a green onion in my other hand. No I didn’t wash it.
start em young
I'd call it a bunion but that's... not right
Does your spouse love onions. Are you suspicious of your spouse. Is your spouse going some where else after dinners. Well you are in luck. Appease your spouse and feed them all the onions they want. Try to use recipes that need raw onions or slightly cooked. The more the merrier.
Soon you will have more nights with your spouse asking something they have not asked in a long time. Would you like to do something together.
Aside from the joke and as an onion lover I did not know how easily onion breath could make someone go WOW, until I sat next someone who basically had an onion buffet.
Onions smell good to me but, whatever happens once it gets in your body changes the smell and the onion breath lasts quite a few hours
When I was in the Navy some guy ordered a garlic pizza with extra garlic. Well my bunk area had 12 bunks in about a 14 feet by 8 feet area. His bunk smelled of garlic for about 4 days straight whether he was there are not.
So yes garlic and onion- may save your marriage Hun. Onions breath goes away in a few hours but, garlic odor can last days on a person.
Just slowly increase the amount everyday and keep it subtle. Of course it could backfire when someone who knows that smell rats them out about there own odor.
Dating a new man who just told me that he hates onions. So need advice: do I break up with him or try to convert him?
I love French cooking techniques, and I take them to the extreme when making FOS.
Pretty much every step of the way I'm browning the ever-loving shit out of the ingredients.
I start by making a beef stock by roasting bones with veggies and then heavily browning a cheap cut of beef, cubed. As I'm browning the beef I'm mindful to let a fond collect on the bottom of the pan before deglazing with a white wine. After building a fond and deglazing 6-8(!) times, I throw everything into a large stockpot with fresh cold water and let it simmer for 3-4 hours. I then remove the bones, throw in some herbs, and let the stock reduce with the remaining meat and vegetables for another few hours, adding fresh water as needed.
I then move on to preparing the onions, and I like to use a variety. One pound of white onions, one pound of yellow onions, 4-5 pounds of red onions, and another pound of shallots. I cut most of them pole-to-pole, this allows you to cook them longer without them becoming complete mush - however I cut a few of the onions horizontally so that they melt into the broth and add some body.
Once the onions are cut I start caramelizing them. I do this much in the same way I did the beef, by first cooking them down to remove the water, then browning the fuck out of them. Build a fond, deglaze with white wine, repeat for a minimum of 90 minutes. I take these onions as far as possible - not just brown, but almost burnt (but not quite). This has commonly taken over two hours, and you cannot walk away from the stovetop - even for a minute (I'm not exaggerating).
Then I add equal parts beef stock and red wine, I also add copious amounts of freshly cracked black pepper and let this simmer until the raw wine flavor is cooked out, then add the rest of the beef stock and let everything simmer for another half hour. In this time I make the croutons by slicing a baguette and tossing the rounds in garlic butter, then into a hot oven until they are toasted.
The soup goes into a crock, topped with the croutons, sprinkled with a handful of freshly grated gruyere and parmesan, then it goes under a broiler until (you guessed it) the cheese is browned.
The red onion and white wine keep it from becoming too sweet, the insane amounts of fond make it incredibly savory, the croutons give it a nice crunchy texture, and the melted cheese ties it all together.
It's literally the best thing I've ever made, my crowning achievement.
It's like making love to an onion.
So I know we all love onions here. But I’m very curious to hear your opinions on onion powder.
Like it, hate it, don’t care for it?
Personally, I don’t think it adds much to the dishes I cook but maybe I’m just not using enough of it.
Add a spoonful (or 5, we don't judge here) to your rice next time.... WOW! I also toss in a handful (or 5) of diced onions... But this stuff is amazing!
I LOVE like LOVE my raw crisp onions. I eat them on pizza and burgers even salads. And as a single individual the smell doesn't bother me. However I'm starting to notice that I'm having really bad gas as of lately. Like my farts are so strong it burns when I release them. The farts smell strong too. Now I do eat on average about 4 to 6 raw onions per day so I know that isn't helping my case but for fellow onion lovers I wonder if you guys have any tips to deal with this.
My cat won't even sit next to me when I fart it's that bad :( . Soon as I release a fart he heads for my bathroom closet and won't come out. One time he even hissed at me when I tried to pick him up after tooting. I love my onions but this sucks
i love my cast iron. steak fajitas
Also, I don't know how everyone here gets their Wendy's to give them a fistful of onions. When I order extra I get 4-5 onion rings tops. I always have to cut/add my own!
I’m a Produce manager at a grocery store and I had a customer say they aren’t as sweet as they were long ago. Any feedback peoples?
