>!Switch releases March 2017!<
Shows up like this:
Switch releases March 2017
/r/NintendoSwitch
I have to stay up most of the night on Thursday for a test I'll be having Friday morning.
I'm only allowed 4 hours of sleep, which isn't great as I'm already struggling with my energy.
However, because I'm not the only one home, I won't be able to be at my PC as we only have one room that we use for most things besides the kitchen and bathroom.
So I'm turning to you lovely folks for some help.
Games I have currently in my to-play or to-finish list include:
The biggest issues I have here is none of the above sound involved enough or require too much reading when deprived of sleep.
I've already done Hades, Dark Souls, Hollow Knight, and such like that if it helps.
Anyone have any suggestions?
What would you play if you had to stay up most of the night and all of the following morning?
Thanks in advance.
ETA: the test I need to have done is known as a sleep deprived eeg. It's typically used to check to see if your brain has seizure like activity, but it's easiest to see those brain waves when your brain is tired/angry.
They basically have you sleep a tiny bit, then stay up and have you come in for 1-2 hours where they try to cause/trigger the seizure activity in your brain. It's in a controlled space at a hospital, so... yeah. Just something they want to check based on my recent experiences.
Thanks you all for the amazing recs. I need to sleep now but will check back in the morning.
I've noticed that a lot of the games I end up getting addicted to have similar traits. They usually have a lot to unlock, varying play styles or classes, and are short bursts of arcadey type action. Some specific ones that triggered the dopamine rushes were:
- Vampire Survivors
- Monster Hunter Rise
- Samurai Bringer
- Hyrule Warriors/Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors
- Last night I tried Earth Defense Force World Brothers and immediately was hooked.
There are some others that fit the bill, like Stardew Valley, Broforce, Dave the Diver, Dead Cells, Enter the Gungeon, Terraria, Hades, the Lego games, Minecraft Dungeons, Balatro, Diablo/Torchlight. But the ones listed above had something extra special that really drew me to them.
Like I said, I'm a big fan of unlocking tons of weapons/characters/relics/ whatever. So Roguelites are usually a fair bet. But there has to be pretty substantial meta-progression. I also have or have tried pretty much all the well-known ones.
One other thing I'll mention is that I have a Steamdeck, Ps4 and Xbox XS as well. Asking on this sub since the Switch is my preferred way to play. But if there are Steam or even retro games that would fit too, shout them out by all means. I use Retrodeck and have a million old games to check out too.
I just love diving into a level, grinding a bit, and having tangible loot and progression made every time I do a run or whatever. So any suggestions that sound like they might work along the same lines as the highlighted ones above, I'd love to hear about them. Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone! I'm looking for recommendations for the best Nintendo Switch games to play together with my 10-year-old daughter. We love games that are fun, family-friendly, and allow us to play cooperatively or competitively. Any suggestions for games that would be great for father-daughter gaming sessions? Thanks in advance!
Hi! Looking for recs for fun cozy games. My style is mainly farm/cooking/lifestyle maintenance games like Animal Crossing & Sims lol
Also, if anyone has any game reviews for the new MySims bundle or Venba? TIA!

Hey y’all, my husband and I just got a switch (finally!) and I want to get him an F1 game for Christmas. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Looking for chilled open world games where combat isn’t a primary feature. Ideally something where driving or flying is featured would be cool. The sort of thing you can pick up for 30-60 minute spells and relax with? Thanks!
For the last day of the black friday deals, I want to buy a game for max 10€. Would love to hear your recommendations ! :)
I‘m open for anything.
For some reason I have been really curious about this game for a while. I was born in '86 but the first video game I remember playing was Superman on what I assume was Atari 2600.
I saw that it was on sale (still is for another day or so) so I went ahead and bought it, and I am so impressed. I don't quite have the same nostalgic connection to the Atari gameplay that I'm sure others will have, but the nostalgia for the era is still there. I feel like I'm right there sitting next to my dad on the couch.
Something about seeing the interviews of these older developers, the classic photos and advertisements and the quaintness of the gameplay really pulls some heartstrings. Reminds me a much simpler time, and it does a great job of reminding you of that.
Anyway, just wanted to share my $.02. It's been said a million times but it really is like a museum, and a very good one at that. And I think it's important to support projects like this. If you're even remotely interested, I highly recommend it.
I know this game isn’t in vogue, and is not at all in the zeitgeist at the moment. But I’ve been playing this game dutifully, as I’d like to venture off into game design and video game development. I’ve also watched all of Masahiro Sakurai’s YouTube content on game development.
It’s really kind of a trip to look behind the scenes, and sort of see how the masterpieces were made.
I’m really keen to use the capabilities of the engine to make my own sort of text heavy adventure game with platforming and a bit of combat in it.
It’s really a trip to use the nodons to do weird programming things. It’s like doing advanced mathematics when you get passed geometry and algebra. They should have advertised that math is useful for a career in video games, and I would have been much more excited about math and like two to three hours of math homework a night.
So after you finish the 7 highly guided tutorials on how to make 7 different sort of video games. You unlock a final batch of 50 puzzles, and sometimes I catch myself spending a surprisingly long time on one puzzle to slowly get the answer.
I don’t use a guide, because then I’m not learning the skills I’m trying to learn. This also makes me wonder how many of the people that reviewed this game attempted to complete these last 50 puzzles are. I’m on 43 with only 7 left.
And it’s just amazing to me how quirky this programming language is, and how that gives you a diverse toolset to work with to think conceptually about and potentially use in out of the box ways.
I had a friend come over yesterday and I showed him Galaxy Rebel Outlaw, because he liked Freelancer. And it took some effort to grasp the controls.
Video games truly tax your mental muscles. I think they may even be the route to get used to thinking in complex abstract problem solving ways.
I still have Dragon Quest 11 to beat, but I’m paying it too slowly, the difficulty at draconian mode is legitimately hard.
So instead I think I’m gonna put Dragon Quest 11 on hold to get closer to beat Pikman 2. Get to high rank on Monsters Hunter Generations Ultimate, and then pick up Monster Hunter Rise from the beginning at that point.
And I’ve been really meaning to get to Suda 51’s new remaster of Shadows of the Damned. And I hear that one is a shorter game. I also want to replay Yuji Horrii’s Hokkaido Serial Murder Case, as that was a blast the first time through and really unique for me.
I’m hoping to develop my own little masterpiece of strongly narrative focused text heavy adventure game with combat in platforming in Game Builder’s Garage as soon as I finish these last 7 puzzles… you guys keep your eyes out cause I’ll be probably posting about it on here once I finish developing my first ever video game.
Hey guys, I know this is kind of a recurring question, but I've been searching for a while and I'm looking for something a little more specific to our situation.
So, I host a weekly game night with a core group of 3 friends thats been ongoing for a few years, with the occasional one or two other friends that sometimes show up as well. Since this has been going for a while now we are somewhat in need of new games to play, and I'd love some suggestions.
We need fun 4player (although up to 6 would be nice) games that can be played in a single switch. We mostly like real-time games that don't require reading since we are often tired and drinking. Not really a fan of beat-em-ups and button mashing as well.
Our favorites are:
Smash Bros Ultimate
Spiderheck
Boomerang Fu
Mario Kart
Mario Tennis
Rocket League
Games that we already played and liked:
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Overcooked
No Heroes Here
Towerfall
Screencheat
Bomberman
Tricky Towers
Ultimate Chicken Horse
Full Metal Furies
Games that we tried but didn't really enjoy:

I just played life is strange, and whole heartedly loved it. I know there’s a lot more options on other consoles, but what are some story/decision games you’ve loved and think are worth the play through. I’m not picky and open to looking into anything
TIA
I've been looking for a game I can sink hours into, a platformer like Megaman Zero 2 or Shantae: ½ Genie Hero. Preferably 16 bit or pixelated, with a banging soundtrac, clever mechanics, and fast-paced, punishing levels that'd make you want to throw your console out the window. Anyone got any recommendations?
I've played:
Shovel Knight
Cuphead: Don't Deal With The Devil!
Shantae: Half Genie Hero (Ultimate Edition)
Sonic Mania Plus: Encore
Gimme some new ragebait based on my played games?
Edit: FINE I'LL FUCKING BUY CELESTE!!!
lol sorry if that sounds weird but I absolutely love games with floaty/fluid movement. I just purchased the game "Wavetale" and OMG IM OBSESSED. The game itself is nothing spectacular, the graphics are subpar (still beautiful) and the game is pretty easy but the experience is amazing. The character is a fast and fluid with things like a nice floaty double jump and the ability to glide and swing off things with a grapple that make controlling the main character extremely enjoyable and satisfying. I can't recommend the his game enough if you also love this type of game but now I'm lost looking for another game with movement that fluid. Some other games that I enjoyed that also fit this description are pathless (this is another with extremely satisfying character movement/controls) and ofc the ori games. stuff like that Thanks for any input and happy gaming!!

Ok, so we all know Nintendo is lacking in the online/multiplayer department…as in they don’t have modern online features such as in-game invites, party chat and even messaging all within the the Switch itself. I hope they can and will upgrade their multiplayer features in the Switch 2. I just find it annoying how we have to manually share a code with friends and such. It would be very much easy if it were more streamlined like xbox and PlayStation, and I know Nintendo likes to do their own thing, but I don’t like the way they been going with this. I feel like it should be much simpler to join or invite friends in a game. It would be better if I could send a ingame invite to any of my friends on my friends list and they’d join instantly once they accept the invite. Short and simple as it should be. Hopefully with the Switch 2 coming out next year, they’ll focus more on the online gaming aspect and use modern hardware/software.
Buying games on the Nintendo eShop has become one of the easiest ways for gamers to save money. Unlike other platforms like PlayStation or Xbox, Nintendo allows you to switch regions in its store easily and without restrictions, meaning you can access lower prices depending on which country you choose to shop from. This option has been available since the very launch of the console, early 2017, and surprisingly, Nintendo has not done anything to block this practice, even though they’ve been aware of it for years.
This region-switching system is completely legal and works without complications. You just need to change your account settings and select the region where the prices are lower. Once this is done, you can enjoy deals and discounts that, in some cases, can be significantly cheaper than those in your original region.
Unlike Sony and Microsoft, who have implemented more complicated and risky methods (such as using VPNs or even the need of creating new accounts to change regions), Nintendo has opted not to interfere with this process. While it is possible to do this on other platforms, it usually involves more steps and, in some cases, comes with risks like losing access to certain content or having issues with subscriptions. In contrast, with Nintendo, region switching is completely transparent and safe.
On the other hand, in Steam and the general PC market, the competitive pricing and constant sales also make it a cheaper platform overall. However, the flexibility and simplicity that Nintendo offers by allowing region changes directly and without complications makes it an attractive option for those looking to save on their digital purchases.
In summary, if you're looking to take advantage of the best deals without any hassle, Nintendo gives you an easy way to do so through region switching—a benefit that neither Sony nor Microsoft has made as accessible.
Looking ahead to the Switch 2, it would be ideal if Nintendo continues this policy and doesn't implement any restrictions that limit users' ability to shop from the cheapest eShop. If the flexibility the eShop currently offers remains in the next console, many gamers will continue choosing Nintendo for its simplicity and accessibility when it comes to digital purchases.
What do you think?
