The Neo Geo is a cartridge-based arcade system from the fourth generation of video game consoles. The console was launched to arcades as the Multi Video System (MVS) in Japan on April 26th, 1990 followed by releases in North America (August 22nd, 1990), and Europe (1991). Variants of the arcade console may have 1, 2, 4, or 6 cartridge slots for games that can be chosen by the player. Many people "consolize" MVS boards to be playable on a home television by either using a JAMMA-based "supergun" or manually wiring the needed parts.
On July 1st, 1991, the console was launched in a different form factor to the home market as the Advanced Entertainment System (AES), becoming the most powerful machine of the fourth generation of consoles. A version of the AES that uses CDs instead of cartridges — the Neo Geo CD — was released in 1994. A handful of exclusive titles were released straight to Neo Geo CD.

Hi all, I was hoping to do the RGB bypass to my AES consoles.
I’ve seen a few guides and videos but just wanted some definitive answers before diving in.
Wouldn’t mind keeping Composite but not 100% necessary. Just really want best output possible.
Hello everyone, my boyfriend is a retro consoles/games collector he has a huge collection including a neo geo console that has some issues. I wanted to gift him a perfectly working one for his bd this year and I found a clean one on ebay but I am afraid of getting scammed can anyone help me with that?
the box doesn't have a serial number where it's supposed to be so this made me double check
I’ve got the Neogeo Arcade Stick Pro with hylo 2.0 plugged in and it works great, now I’m buying the MVSX and was wondering if, you guessed it - can I just plug the usb with hylo 2.0 from the arcade stick pro into the MVSX?
I really hope I can. Their Telegram group is almost impossible to navigate.
Hello! i'm looking for an option to play NeoGeo games with a friend of mine, we are both from separate countries, so i'm looking for an emulator to play together. i would appreciate any help
I tried looking online but no one seems to be talking about it on any of these games. It’s such a standard thing to be missing…
I really don’t want to go through 10+ fights for each character set to 2+ rounds, that’s going to get way too tedious…
It’s the ACA Neogeo version on Switch.
Hey Guys! I'm new to NeoGeo pockets, but I recently purchased based two from Japan. A blue camo "thick" and a clear "thin". What's generally considered the better screen mod amongst the available options? Also, which is considered the better NGPC? The thick or thin?
Anyone familiar with this screen? Bought this cabinet a few months ago working. Had it on this morning, then it began boot-looping while I was making a pot of coffee. First time I’ve had any issues with it. Turned it off, then turned it back for it to sit on this screen then after some time boot-looping again. Went to record video of it about an hour later and won’t boot-loop anymore. I’m new to Neo Geo, arcade cabinets, and the MVS so I’m not familiar with how they work and what their quirks are.
Installed the SD Loader on my Neo Geo CD today. No problems with instalation of hardware and updating was no problem. But now the part I thaught must be easyest part I got a problem. I installed some games on the card and started, but it tells me no card present. Can't be problem of the card itself, cause I made the software update with same card. What are the files format that I need? Or maybe I must create any special folders for the games before?
Hey guys I bought the Neo SD Pro and it arrived yesterday. Does anyone have a full set of the games to AES plus compatible games for the Neo Geo cd that are already converted to the .neo form so I could download it the my micro sd card?
I've been out of AES collecting for a while.. and I know Slug games are expensive but just the manual?! In this condition?! There's no way it can be worth this much nowadays right? Let alone the game
I know Neo Store has always been more expensive but it seems ludicrious.
Bought this copy of MS3 off a fellow redditor a few days ago and it arrived today! Stoked. Cart is in great shape and more importantly it’s a great game!
I’ve been using my neogeo aes3-5 for more than 2 weeks after making recap and installing rgb mod, and today something strange began - it doesnt work if I turn it on, but if I press on the component on the photo it works okay until console is restarted. Can somebody help identifying issue there?
Picked up an MVS cabinet and I've been using a 161 in 1 cart. To change the difficulty though, I need to -
Is there an easier way? I am not too knowledgeable, but I heard that some cabinets may have memory issues and I don't know if that affects things or how to find out whether mine is working properly.
If i got a flash cart, would it be easier since the games would default to an easier difficulty setting? Is there an easy way to change difficulty for all games instead of 1 by 1? Also read about unibios - not sure if that would help?
Where can I find cabinets to buy? I was looking on Internet, but very vague results, thus an auction ended already on ebay. I wish I had a candy cabinet. Any tips?
I have an MVS MV1B board that one day the graphics suddenly garbled and threw this error:
VIDEO RAM ERROR
ADDRESS WRITE READ
00000000 5555 XX55
(XX being a random hexadecimal number)
So it was an UPPER VIDEO RAM chip issue. Replaced the chip marked as VRAM UPPER in this picture with a W24258S-70LE and everything worked fine.... for about 30mins, then the same error popped up again. Replaced the chip a second time, worked when quick-tested but after assembling the unit... the same error again.
So it seems to me that something else is killing the chip. I already tested continuity on the chip pins and all traces seems to be fine.
Any help?
I have a aes 3-6 that is in watchdog mode( jumbled video and clicking sound. I want to visually inspect the bios, cpu and work ram but I am unsure where the work ram is located. Can someone please help?
Note: it already has a bios socket installed (someone else installed) and yes I’m using the correct power supply (9v 3A).
Hi all,
Pretty new to the Neogeo scene but so far I’ve acquired 2x AES consoles and a few carts.
My next purchase was a MV-1C board, however I’ve noticed the component kits aren’t being produced by Retro Gamer Stuff anymore.
Any ideas where I can go from here? Mainly want a OMVS system with RGB output. And use the board I’ve bought…
Any advice would be amazing.
UPDATE: Are these kits any good? Has anyone used them before? https://www.aliexpress.com/i/1005006990522931.html
I was thinking the SS variant as it has extra outputs?
