Hello, I am relocating to Nashville in two months from Houston, Texas. I will be working at the airport. I just wanted to know what are the good suburb neighborhoods around the airport to rent in ? (Would like to rent a house)
This a repost from the Nashville sub. I’ve lived in a lovely Colorado college town for 40 years. It’s changed a lot in the past few. Plus, miss my childhood friends. Thoughts on how Nashville has changed?
I've lived all over the country, am currently in Tampa Bay, completely over hurricanes and thinking of moving to the Nashville area. I'll have almost $200,000 to put down on a house but want to keep my expenses very low. Have just begun looking at properties under $250,000 and seem to be seeing that I'll have to live 30-45 minutes drive outside of downtown (bummer). Ideally I would live 15 minutes away on a .5 acre lot but it seems highly doubtful. I must have a house so I can make music in my home studio.
Are there areas that I should focus on? Any thoughts much appreciated!
P.S. I've lived in Detroit, Boston, Hollywood CA and Tampa. I plan on settling down forever on this next move.
Hi, I am a Latina of Dominican decent, and my husband and I are considering a move to Nashville with our 3 month old daughter.
We are curious if this is a city where we can still find pieces of our culture so that our daughter can grow up with it. We will be living away from all friends and family, so we'll really need to make a big effort for our daughter.
For example, can I find any good dance schools for bachata and merengue dancing? I googled and found what seems to be an okay salsa school, but as Dominicans, our culture is really all about bachata and merengue. My husband and I actually aren't proficient in our cultural dances ourselves and would like to get better along with teaching our daughter.
What about good latin restaurants that serve caribbean food, such as Cuban/Puerto Rican/Dominican food (NOT Mexican food, which is COMPLETELY different)?
Am I even able to find plantains in the grocery stores?
Any good latin dance clubs?
As for the music scene, is it just all country music, or is there a good community for latin music?
What areas have the best schools?
Thank you so much in advance!
I know I will get grilled for this but I recently experienced your city and am seriously considering moving there. I just started a new remote tech job so location is flexible and Nashville cost of living seems to fit. When I drove through the city while on a road trip last week it looked very lively and the weather was nice.
How is Nashville for late 30s people who hate country music ?
Update: thanks for the replies. Decided not to move there.
Hi! We live in a great house w an awesome view in a beautiful spot in upstate NY but just getting my kids to decent schools is 3 hours a day of driving and that’s before I add in my own work as a realtor and everything else in life. Also a decent grocery store is a 1.5hr round trip.
Sooooo please share great areas in Nashville- communities w a nice maybe cool vibe that are not 2m a house, but have a little acreage with awesome schools and not too far from everything. Thank you!
Hello again,
We want to move to Nashville and are headed in next week to check out some areas.
We've been in Tampa for a couple years now after leaving Colorado and growing up in Buffalo NY, so we've dealt with natural disasters.
I guess how bad are they, how often?
Is there anything I should look for or avoid In a Home
Hi everyone! I recently had a job opportunity come up in Nashville. I had been planning on trying to move there earlier this year because I love the music, the nature, and the travel back home isn't too bad. I'm from the South so used to the weather, so that's not an issue. I've done the whole Broadway thing several times and have fun but am definitely not a consistent partier and prefer more low-key scenes. I'm single as can be, approaching 30, and would definitely want to start dating soon after moving to help me meet people and maybe find my guy, though l've heard mixed reviews about Nashville dating. The rent is way lower in Nashville than my current city, so that's not an issue either. On a personal level, the few people I know in the area are obviously established and are more outgoing than me. I'm afraid that living in such a lively city may make me feel more isolated because my circles tend to run very small, and I'm definitely introverted. Obviously I know that life's what you make it, so l intend to try to find some clubs to join or classes to take, but I'm wondering it any introverts have any insight as to whether or not this is a good place to live given that l'm not a social butterfly? :) Thank you so much for any insight or advice! <3
Hello! Any suggestions on the best way to find a rental? Looking for a house vs an apartment and have obviously been looking through the normal apps (homes.com, Zillow, etc) but some of the rentals on there even seem scammy. I see reviews of people paying the application fees but never hearing anything back. Is there a better way to secure housing?
My family and I are relocating to Tennessee next spring and are looking for suggestions on where exactly we should look to buy.
We think we’d like to be ~45 minutes (or less) outside of Nashville.
Some info on what we’re looking for:
We’re meeting a real estate agent out there in a couple of months. But I’d love to look more into specific areas. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Hey all! My boyfriend and I are coming into Nashville this weekend for my birthday/to tour apartments.
I’ve been looking at Bellevue and Hendersonville as they seem to be the safest and most affordable, but have also considered the East Side.
Does anyone know anything about Eastside Apartments? And also anything happening in Nashville 10/19 my boyfriend and I could go do to get the Nashville local experience? I’m trying to convince him to move lol he loves sports, adventures and artsy things, but isn’t a big country music fan. We plan on going to broadway but want other things to do as well! Thanks in advance!
I’m transferring in my job to Nashville and would like to know where the conservative communities are to look for. I’m not in fear of anything or hateful of others, I would just like to set myself up with a community of likeminded folks that will support my values and hopefully make friends and lasting fulfilling relationships. I really don’t know anyone in the area but it’s somewhere I’ve always had a dream of living.
I trust all the recommendations are not out of sarcasm lol
Hey all! I am going to be relocating to Nashville in mid January. I am 27 years old, single female and looking for somewhere not too expensive (under 1400) and somewhere I will feel safe. I will also be commuting to downtown for work everyday so commute is also a major factor for me. I'm currently looking at Bellevue (Avana Lexington, Wyndchase Bellevue, and Crossings of Bellevue). I was also looking into Hermitage/Donelson but it seems that area may not be the safest? Any input on any of these areas is greatly appreciated! Most of the stuff I'm finding is from years ago so I definitely want to make sure things haven't changed over the years! Thank you!
Hello - I may have a job opportunity in Franklin, TN. We are a married lesbian couple with 2 dogs. Pretty much keep to ourselves but looking for a neighborhood/town/area we can live in that won't be unsafe and uncomfortable due to being gay. I grew up in Tennessee, so I know how it is, just looking for somewhere safe and semi accepting - i.e not called a dyke if I'm out in the yard or having letters/posters hung on my front door. Also don't want a super long commute to Franklin - the shorter commute the better.
Should also say we would be renting at first. TIA
Hello, I have some questions about moving to TN. I currently live in VA.
Thank you all for reading!
We're originally from CO, and have lived in Tampa for the past 2 years.
We're thinking about moving my family and small business to Nashville.
We love music, hiking, culture, and exploring downtowns.
What areas should we scope out?
How's high rise living? What about condos or homes? I'd love to hear anyone's experiences!
Would appreciate any feedback on different areas to live. Does anyone have feedback good or bad on The Estates at Brentwood on Church Street, or Brentwood Pointe? I'd love to hear if you felt it was a safe area.
My 23 yo son is looking very likely to get a job that would be in the Lebanon area. He'd be moving there from Birmingham Al. We know nothing about the Nashville area. But, from what I read, Lebanon looks a little rural and sleepy. What areas should we look in that would be maybe between Nashville and Lebanon that might be a little more hip but not as insanely as expensive as right in Nashville? Thanks for any insight.
Hello everyone! Went apartment hunting recently and found some within the Metro Center area that I liked (Knox, Soundwater, Arya, Abberly). Was seeing if anyone had any insight on this area or any of these complexes as I will be moving from out of state and am not too familiar. Thanks in advance!!
Hi everyone. My husband and I will be moving to Nashville soon for his job. We found an apartment complex in Madison that we really like called Birchway Rivergate. It's brand new and has everything we want. The only thing is we are unable to travel to visit in person and I've read some mixed things about Madison in general. Does anyone have any opinions about the area or the apartment complex? Thanks in advance!
This is a subreddit for people moving to Nashville. We aren’t a dumping ground for you to sell your house. That’s what a realtor is for.
Anybody have any experience with the this place? And what are your thoughts on living downtown as a single 34 yo F?
Does anyone have experience good or bad with 1505 Demonbruen apts? I’ve read a lot of online reviews, some crappy, some great. I’m looking for input as to how well it’s kept up, how secure it is in general and the fees they charge. I feel like their fees are a bit ridiculous, but if that’s all we’ll have to deal with at least I know what amount we will have to pay without hidden charges.
Thank you in advance.
Hey everyone.
The wife is finally going to win and we are looking at leaving the Tampa area. We're going to book a couple of visits beforehand but hopefully I can narrow some areas down before we come.
If we leave it will be for land, no HOA and no master planned communitcommunities. Are there any small towns with some acreage around that would still be commutable into Nashville? Within an hour would be ideal.I haven't looked at jobs yet but in my industry it'll likely be a downtownish location.
For reference, my milennial wife will be looking for "cute" downtowns with non-Starbucks coffee shops. Bonus for good middle and high schools. This combo, like fall, doesn't exist in Florida, unfortunately. And apparently fall is really important lol.
Thanks!
Hi everyone!
I’m a 38M married to a 44M. The hubby might be accepting an extraordinary job offer from MTSU soon. Where should we live that would be a 30-min drive or less to MTSU and is “safe enough”. We currently live in Memphis and have for 3 years so I doubt if there’s much that would scare us away.
Our house budget would likely range between $350k-$500k.
It’s too early to know whether I’d keep my current job and do it remotely. Should I have to get a new job, I’d like for my commute to also be 30-min or less to downtown. Does such a place exist?
We’d prefer a single family home but aren’t opposed to a townhouse / condo if that’s all that’s available within our budget for an area.
Any assistance y’all can provide would be greatly appreciated!
Looking for Apartment/Community with quality units that is in a safe area under $1400
Preferred locations - Bellevue and Brentwood
Open to suggestions!
hi everyone!
i’m a 24F (almost 25) from connecticut and have a trip planned for the end of the month to tour apartments.
i’ll be working fully remote and have a dog, and my budget is about $2k a month for a 1 bedroom.
i’ve currently been looking in the germantown area since it seems very dog-friendly in the sense of there being parks and in terms of walk-ability and it is close to the city center which i think will be good in terms of meeting people since i know no one down there.
can anyone provide some info on the demographics of people there? could this be a good fit or should i look elsewhere?
thank you!
Hi everyone! I am currently in the interview process for a RN position at Vanderbilt Hospital. I currently live in Orlando, FL, and keep going back and forth on if I should actually make the move. I have visited Nash a few times and loved it, but I know living is different than a vacation. Does anyone have any insight or advice for me? For reference, I am a female in my young 20’s starting out my career in healthcare. I would be making this transition on my own! Also, how is the area a tad bit more north of Germantown near the river? Zip code 37228? Thank you everyone in advance.
Hey there Nashvillians! I'm an Iowan who has been to Nashville several times and fell in love with the city (I know, I know- Nashville is crowded enough as it is... I can't help that I love it ok?!). I have therefore been looking to relocate. I am potentially getting an interview for a job, but there's a catch... It pays $22 an hour and in North Nashville, which I know isn't the safest place. It's on Mainstream Drive by the Ted Rhodes fields. I'm a single, very small woman, so obviously I wouldn't live in this area, but it still concerns me. Making a living at that wage in Nashville with rent prices what they are also worries me. I know visiting and living in a city are two different things, so I wanted to reach out to people who actually live there with their thoughts. I don't want to take a job I'll regret and be stuck in a bad situation, so if needed I'll keep looking. The job market just sucks right now so I'm at the point where I may take what I can get. All advice is welcome!
