Did Destiny's Child ever release a cover of a Motown single by someone like The Supremes? Looking for the most famous Motown single they would have covered.
Listen to it! In fact listen to the album ‘rug n ready’ which is where it’s from!
Tom Ingrassia of Holden, the executive producer of the film and the host of "The Motown Jukebox" every Wednesday morning on WCUW 91.3FM gives a moving tribute to Mary Wilson, a founding member of the Supremes, at the end of the film. Wilson was going to was going to be featured as well as narrate the documentary, but died just before filming was to resume in 2021. Scherrie Payne, the final lead singer of the Supremes, is also featured in the film.

Wow, so I was innocently rearranging my wardrobe, while Desperately Seeking Susan was playing in the background, idk, I was in the mood for the 80s. Then I hear this saxophone that is wailing like a guitar. I’ve never heard anything like it! The sax I’ve heard usually sounds so smooth and mellow. Jr Walker is intense and I love it.
I scrambled to find the 80s artist, only to find his career started much earlier!
What is he doing in his playing? Is he shredding? Bending? Can you do that on a sax? Crazy cool.
I don’t know what I’m doing. Which record should I listen to first? I’m into albums these days so if he has an “album experience” or concept or diarist style album, please recommend. Or just your fave! But maybe not so much a greatest hits. Though I get why they are good starter listens I outgrow too fast.
Also, I’m interested in other Motown artists with this kind of god tier sax playing.
