I've done some research and it came down to these three options. Starting on NSR 125 if it matters. And all of them have the same rating ECE 22.06.
I have a budget of about $1,000 and already own a good helmet, gloves, and riding shoes. I'm looking for recommendations on a jacket and pants. I plan to ride casually to work and take 30-minute to 1-hour rides on weekends. I visited Cycle Gear and tried on a bunch of different gear but couldn't decide. The weather is improving and around 50°F (10°C) to 60°F (15°C). I want something comfortable, protective, and suitable for these conditions. Any suggestions?
Oftentimes I will see people wearing gear that is too loose and will actually cause more injury if used improperly. Here are a few tips and tricks for when you're picking out that wicked awesome new gear.
1) "the suit was too tight, so I went a size up" is something I often see
And when you see them in the suit standing there you can tell it doesn't fit. How to address this. Put on the suit in the shop or at home and do it all up. Then have someone grab onto chunks of the suit around the shoulders, sides, back and legs. If you can grab fistfulls of leather. The suit is too big.
The reason you don't want to have a suit this loose, is when you it the ground. You want to slide. If there is flapping fabric, it will catch and tear wide open. I've seen tons of A*star, dainese, RST, heroic etc suits all torn wide open because of fitment then the rider blames the suit.
Also remember that all suits fit differently. Like helmets. Different brands will fit different people. I'll never get into a dainese suit, A*star fits a husky body type better.
2) "The helmet was too tight so I went a size up"
Probably the biggest issue I see. "It's really tight around the cheeks" yup! That's how it's supposed to be. Not so much that you're biting your inner cheek. But they should be pushed together and "locked in"
Second thing, take your pointer and middle finger and put them just above your eye brown. Thats how much forehead should be showing in your helmet. If it's more, you're not wearing the helmet right or it's too big.
When it comes to helmet brands, they ALL fit differently. I see many people wearing 1000$ Pista AGVs because "that's what Rossi wears" and it doesn't fit their head shape. If you worship at the church of Rossi... but have a fat head, just buy a poster for the garage. Not the helmet.
Regarding Boots, gloves, back protectors, and under gear (VnM sport is the best...just sayin) buy what you can afford to start, you don't need a 800$ set of gloves or 1000$ Daytona boots but a good set of SMX A*star, or anything with a HARD rigid ankle will be perfect.
Remember when you crash a motorcycle, you could be kitted out with the best of the best gear and still get all fucked up because of impact fractures and displacements. You're never 100% safe. But by wearing gear that's not fitting, you're definitely not helping yourself.
Pro Tip when you crash at the track. Test your helmet with a penny. Tapping it all over should make a tick tick tick noise. If you get to a damaged area it will make a thunk thunk thunk then it's time to buy a new lid and that one becomes a wall hanger.
Stay safe out there!
So I’m pretty new to motorcycles and maintaining it. And I don’t know if my chain is good, thight or too loose.
Edit: Yamaha r3 with 41.000km (25k miles). (I just bought it)
Recently bought the divorce attorney Ghosh racing hoodie and shirt and it got me thinking if there is any other motorcycle clothing brands that make nice looking, not over the top designs.
Would really like a carbon fiber helmet but am trying to go a little different than most people, any recommendations (yes I know they are expensive, any 200$ good helmet would do just fine, blah blah blah, I just like how they look it’s not that deep)
It’s cold but beautiful here for riding. I’m trying out these Kemimoto gloves for the first time, and not super loving them. They force me to manipulate the throttle and front brake differently than I normally would- any recommendations on more flexible winter gloves or am I SOL? This is my first year using winter gloves instead of regular gloves, so maybe I’m just expecting to be spoiled to much- you have to sacrifice mobility for insulation at some point.
Currently using this duale helmet to get to work and some guy dropped it from a shelf that was about 5'11 off the ground onto concrete. Is it ruined? If not how do I check
Finally thought, why the hell not.
I’m looking for opinions on how you store your street motorcycle gear, or gear in general.
I have been trying to downsize and organize, but for my gear I would like to have a dedicated spot in my office.
How do you store your gear?
A few months ago I decided to get a Motoairbag M1. It ticked all the boxes for me after countless hours of research and had a very attractive price of $500. The only problem is that I’m from the US and these are made in Italy. I get in an accident with my vest and I found out the AA rating is obviously false since the airbag vest it torn to shreds and the pandomoto gear underneath is barely scathed.
I’ve never shipped overseas before and I figured shipping would be about how much I pay when I buy something from overseas. But quotes of $300+ for shipping and a repair quote of around $300 just makes it not worth it.
In hindsight I wish I would’ve got a helite or alpinestars airbag as it’s just easier to deal with companies in the US. Motoairbag customer service is excellent it just didn’t make sense for my finances.
I’m tempted to buy alpinestars next since my only accident I forgot to tether my airbag..but still not sure how much to trust electronic systems.
Not a vlogger, just looking for a simple, low-maintenance camera to mount on my bike for security in case something happens.
Must-haves: • Mountable on my bike • Powered by the bike (charges and turns on/off with the engine) • Loops footage (keeps about an hour, then records over unsaved videos)
Not interested in: • GoPro or Life360 (don’t want to manage footage or mess with settings) • Anything that requires frequent checks or maintenance
I just want a set-it-and-forget-it solution. Any recommendations? TYIA!
Hello guys, i wanted to buy a tinted visor for my k6s. Is the photochromic one worth it ?
What are the pros of having one?
What do you put under your helmet?
I boughr a head cap but it is thick and doesn't fit to my helmet.
I am wearing a thin balaclava. What do you guys wear?
