tryna get a motorcycle

This might sound insane but i am a 17 year old addicted to motorcycles and i’ve had this love for YEARS. I want one so bad that i am now on here asking the most ridiculous question and probably one of the stupidest ideas but here it is….is there anyone on here willing to give an old or used motorcycle to a 17 year old who doesn’t even have his motorcycle license (i have a permit and getting my car license next year) but i know its ridiculous and probably insane but please if you can’t give me a motorcycle at least please give me advice for when i have one owned. (I KNOW ITS ACTUALLY INSANE BUT IM 17 AND YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE)

Finding solace in riding

Recently lost my bud, my life revolved around him. And riding has been therapeutic, helping me with acceptance. Good thing is that not many can see inside a helmet and having few extra helmets helps when the liner gets wet with overwhelming emotions.

Made this video in hope that it helps anyone in similar situation. It's an expression of where I'm at in life at this time.

What's the deal with riding with high beams on?

Blinding drivers, and presumably other bikers seems like a really good way to get hit. I am happy to return the favor if no other cars or bikes are around, don't want to do it to everyone else, but it's rude and kind of reckless. I've had it right behind me and also oncoming. Behind is way worse. I usually just take my foot off the gas when that happens and make them go around me. I just don't get it.

It's kind of like the bikers or muscle car owners that pull up at 4am and just sit there on the curb revving their engines. I don't really get that behavior, either. It's rude, prepare sleeping and it's begging for a confrontation or call to the local police.

I recently lost my main bike. In a accident and I was thinking of upgrading, but don’t know what bike I should get three choices I want. It’s either a ZX6 on Yamaha R6 for Yamaha R1 and I just need some opinions.

Questions on a used bike

I am looking for a Beamer and took it to a dealership. They did the pre-purchase inspection. They gave following comments: -brake reservoirs had solidified brake fluid. They cleaned both reservoirs thoroughly. -The front and back tires are from 2014 and 2016, respectively.

It’s a 2013 F800 with 18k miles on it He’s asking $4750 for it. The bike has a little cosmetic damage that he says was parked bike getting dropped. There’s no other damage to it because I checked and had it checked from the dealership.

Is this worth it? Should I go for it?

Buell recommendations and experiences?

Been looking into the old buells thinking about picking up a ulysses xb12x or xb12xt. I'm 6' 4 270lbs, anyone have any experiences or recommendations with these bikes? I found a cheap cyclone m2 I'm interested in too but that seems like a sportier bike that might not fit me as well.

Yamaha Virago 750 (unsure of model year)

Before I begin, I should make what is already obvious to most obvious to the rest. The picture I uploaded is a stock image because truth be told the motorcycle isn't even built yet. The guy who is rebuilding my soon-to-be bike is a family friend with over 5 decades experience on two wheels (ran a dealership/shop, races, and rode). He knows that I am very much a beginner and I only passed my MSF course within the last month or so. He told me I should have no trouble whatsoever and just don't go all out. He's also planning to give me lessons before I hit the road on my own, despite already having my endorsement.

My questions to the community are the following: ~ Is there anything I should know before I get her registered and all the rest? ~ Do you have any tips for someone starting off on a motorcycle that is over 600cc? ~ Am I absolutely insane or do I stand a chance?

If anyone would like a picture of the finished product when she is fully assembled, I am more than happy to provide it as soon as I see her.

Dumb question but is a 1000cc to much for a beginner.

Context I was looking at a more standard starting bike like the ninja 400 but I saw someone ride by on the KTM 990… I love that bike now but it’s wayyy bigger than a ninja 400. Is it a really bad idea to start on a 1000cc bike or can I get away with it after some practice.

Also the KTM 990 I was talking about if anyone doesn’t know it

Changing brake fluid ABS bike

I own a Yamaha MT-125 ABS RE40 (2022). Who knows if this has an open or closed abs system on it? Related to the change of brake fluid and bleeding of the brakes.

Helmet Bluetooth setup with decent audio

Has anyone found a decent (and affordable) Bluetooth system for helmets that has quality audio?

I'll admit i bought a super cheap Amazon one from China for like $40, and, if I'm on like streets, the audio is acceptable, like 5/10, maybe 6. Then, on the highway, you can't hear jack. Like 2/10. If you are listening to an audio book, which i do, it's like "well, i know people are talking, but don't know what they are saying....

Any suggestions?

Ideas for mods

So I got a 01 500r I've had for like 5 years now. Kinda just to have something to tinker and do whatever I wanted to. I had it all stripped down thinking about what to do and got a pretty good idea. I originally wanted to delete the air box and run filters right off the carbs but kinda thinking that might be bad given where I intend to be riding. 80% on the trail systems in My area, probably only on black top to and from. Other than the other mods is have to do with deleting the air box (carb stuff, all that ) my thoughts are riding trails with a lot of dirt and dust are gonna be an issue. Thoughts?

Also. I watch a video a while.back and a guy had redone the wiring, and had a hidden switch on the bike (no key, no ignition, aftermarket RPM Gauge and Headlight) I want to do something similar. Different forks, lighting, essentially the same. I was thinking of doing the hidden switch and getting rid of the ignition completely. The housing is builtin to things I'm changing plus can't lose a key if it don't have one. Replaced a few ignitions on my RZR and yfz loosing the key but this thing is HD compared to those. Lose that shit and a screwdriver won't work for a.temp replacement lol

I don't have any of motorcycles. I've had dirt bikes my whole but this is different territory for me. Idk where to start as far as doing this switch. Idk how the wiring works have to be. Am I going to mess it up because of some system stuff I'm not aware of? There's a bit more going on with the electrical on this than what I've played with.

Any pointers or suggestions are appreciated! Thanks

Bent carburettor needle causing issues with idling and gears?

Idle speed was fluctuating with super high idle rpm when it was slight warm (2.5-3) and when I put it into first it would stall. Nothing dirty or worn on the carb pretty good condition jets arent blocked. This has to be it right? It’s the main needle that goes from the top under the compression spring

Dress boots for city commute

https://preview.redd.it/g66fqao8busd1.png?width=1876&format=png&auto=webp&s=49920abe8f4cf7f8da4c321d07eda999bb227566

I ride my cruiser to work a fair bit and wear a suit at work. I am looking for a pair of smart dress boots that look like business boots but offer some protection that riding boots do. I am finding it incredibly difficult to find anything suitable, so far the only ones I have found are the Helstons range, but they're hard to find in stock ('m in Australia). Any other suggestions?

Aftermarket Levers

Hello i am new here .i have a Honda Hornet pc41fe.. I'm thinking of changing my clutch and brake levers..there is nothing wrong with the original ones but i dont want to have my fingers fully extended all the time and i have my 2 fingers touching my brake lever all the time when I'm in town.. Now the actual question..i want to install the a set of puig 3.0 levers and I don't know if i can just swap the levers,if i need to buy any adapters to properly fit or if i have to buy a whole new seperate brake fluid reservoir and different bracket for the brake lever coz the OEM is in 1 piece..im also consider it to add an aftermarket hydraulic clutch conversion kit..is there an actual reason to ? Is there a noticeable difference? Thanks in advance

Best Smart Helmet (That’s Not Vaporware)

I’ve been looking for a good smart helmet for a while now. Almost went with the Vata7 X1 until a lot of you reported you hadn’t received your order. It’s hard to know what’s really available and what’s vaporware. Anyone have a good/great experience that can share?

Motorcycle clutch not disengaging???

Ktm 690 duke. I bought this bike at 60 000km and rode it for about 2 000km with a leaky hydraulic clutch. Not far from home when coming to a stop the bike died in first with the clutch pulled in. The reservoir was almost empty so it was obvious what happend. I bled the clutch, cleaned the piston/seals and put new oil in. Everything looks fine. Start the bike in neutral and try to put it in first, it dies. However when i put it in first and jerk it forward then back twice it starts, changes gears and rides just fine. After 5 or so minutes of the engine not running i need to do it again. So the clutch is working and I can change gears just fine but for some reason i have to push it forward and back every time i want to start it.

Can someone please tell me whats wrong or give any advice.
