Got back into the game weeks ago, and I'm back to the point I stopped years ago (time constraints and other distractions).

The first time I played, almost every hunt felt like a wall, with LR Anjanath, Rathalos, Diablos and Kirin giving me tons of trouble. While almost every single HR hunt felt tedious as I learned the game.

Rediscovered my love for this game a few weeks ago cause I was craving for some sort of challenge and wanted to play a game with a really nice equipment system. I definitely feel like I'm a lot better right now compared to way back as I climbed all the way past LR with relative ease (only quest I failed was Kirin, but I did get back and beat it immediately after with 0 carts), and HR felt like somewhat of a breeze too (only failed a Nerg quest). Didn't even cart once to the last four Elder Dragons of the story quest, and defeated Xeno'jiiva with no real difficulty (I struggled beating him within the time limit before).

It wasn't until yesterday that I finally hit my real wall - HR Kirin. It felt like an entirely different game. Feels like I can't get close to him, nor could I figure out his patterns and timings. While I know I can eventually grind it out, he's the very first monster that has my learning stumped. Granted I'm not well-equipped for the fight, I think, but Teostra, Val, and Kushala were pretty much a breeze, when I didn't fully spec to counter them. Anyone got pointers for dealing with the zappy horse for someone who uses CB/GS/Hammer? I do want to learn a ranged weapon and the long sword, but I want to deal with Kirin with weapons I'm familiar with first so I don't get the feeling that I just won from cheesing.

Edit: sorry, but I forgot to add that my brain just thinks I don't deserve to play MR if I can't break through this wall. Nothing too serious, just a mental thing lol.

Alright fellow hunters. After 60 hours and playing this game for the first time, i finally hit a wall with the "Blizzard Blitz" quest. This guy is just genuinely frustrating to fight, hopping from corner to corner and one-shotting me with almost every hit.

How do i fight the Barioth? Where are his openings? The second i try to attack, i just get demolished by another jump. I know i am not that bad at the game, but this guy is just on another level. Besides trying to perfectly dodge every attack, it's a bit too much.

My current HR is 32, is that too low? Should i upgrade my gear first? I have a total of 655 defense, and lvl3 Ice recistence with decorations.

Any tips or help would be appreciated!

Is it meant to be a pre existing character (from a media/of your own creation)?
Did you just choose their features off what looked cool?
Did you try to make yourself?
Is it perhaps a jokey character made to look as ridiculous as possible?
Is this in line with what your usual approach to CC is?
What are they named?

Thinking about this in the wait for mhwilds... (and the hype for veilguard's cc, if anyone is following that)

For bonus points, answer the same for your palico OR the same for what it was in other MH games.

Personally my hunter is a character from a story i'm writing and my Palico is one of my friend's cats (her palico is that cat's sister). In Rise my hunter is yet another original character. I try to make them as accurate to that character as possible but in World that was a fkkn challenge

I failed this mission a good 10-15 times before I realized I actually had to start planning shit out, I went and farmed kushala to make some of its armor for the wind resistance, I went and did everything to get the fireproof mantle, and went and upgraded my Diablos hammer to shatter 3, I feel like I just found a new love for the game, now I'm excited to start farming for the right gear in the fights to come, gearing up right really makes a night and day difference as before id either faint 3 times or run out the clock and first try with my appropriate gear I did it under 10 minutes even as a hammer

WHAT A STRESSFUL FIGHT. Even with me and my friend fighting Velkhana, it was such a challenge. Velk truly is the biggest wall I have climbed. The sub 47 should be enough proof of how we struggled. Desperation definitely came in with that 5 minute warning and the constant reminder that we are 2 carts down everytime we fall into the danger zone of 30% HP. But, man was it thrilling. This truly is our Iceborne.

I noticed that I started having graphics issues with how the Frostfang Barioth GS has been artifacting, but recently it got worse. Whenever I try to craft the Lightbreak Blade I end up having a black screen. What's worse is whenever I try to view the Rajang Greatsword it just crashes and exits out of the game. It doesn't do this to the other weapon types. Has anyone had this problem before? And if so, how did you get to fix it? Thank you for time, I hope you'll all have a wonderful day

So after playing the Wilds beta, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m in desperate need of some practice as I’ve not touched a Monster Hunter game since I finished the Sunbreak expansion storyline for Rise haha. I’m thinking of jumping back into MH World with a brand new character and just starting from scratch as I’m switching my main (started with LS, then went to Charge blade, now I’m moving from Hammer to SnS) and generally just want to experience the main game and iceborne from the beginning again. My PSN is ‘cehallisey’ and I’ll be playing most Mondays and I imagine a couple of evenings in the week also (GMT). Would love to find some regulars to play with as none of my other friends are into MH, hopefully we can carry it on over into Wilds when it drops in February too. Rant:

So I'm playing through the game again and got to the first Alatreon fight. How do I use SOS while also making sure players who use blast weapons (or users who don't know what a nulberry is) stay out of the fight/quest? Recruiting in lobby is pretty much a non-option unless its a busy night. A bit of a rant but come on, its been years and explicitly stated before, during, (and did I mention during) the fight? The heck does this keep happening?

On Xbox.

I always felt AT Velkhana is pretty annoying to beat with LBG until I tried Normal 2 Ammo. I made a super defensive set. Usually I‘m using Coalescence and Resuscitate but with 20 Ice Res only the ice beams with high Aura Level oneshot and these are pretty easy to dodge with max Evade Window and Extender.

One of many benefits of Normal 2 Ammo is that Health Regen is actually viable and you don’t have to heal after every bit of damage you take even when Divine Blessing activated. It’s just super comfortable in general. Big clip size, quick reload, more than enough ammo.

It still does really good damage, I did three runs and all of them were between 15 and 20 minutes while playing it safe. Eating for Sharpshooter also boosts the damage a bit.

The skills on the second page are Clutch Claw Boost, Mind‘s Eye/Ballistics, Fortify and two Trueshot Jewels in both mantles.

ive beaten iceborne and my fav weapon was EASILY the fatalis medley but that was only during multiplayer raids when i was fighting solo i found i couldnt really be effective with my hunting horn any tips or anything?

I never made this and don't recall doing a quest for them. Is it part of a DLC or they just give that OP armour to everyone?

Is it a bug or something, or they gave the dlc to everyone who bought the original? How can I check if I actually have iceborne? Oh also, the CD itself says world so it's not like they gave me the iceborne in the world box.
