/r/misleadingthumbnails
This subreddit is a place to share posts (often found elsewhere on reddit), that have the unique quality of generating a Reddit thumbnail that misleads people into seeing something entirely different than what the full-size image ends up being. This almost always occurs in an unexpected fashion, where shrinking down an image to thumbnail-size suddenly creates an illusion one would not have expected. (Only works on Old Reddit or "Classic View")

UX Disclaimer
This subreddit was created, and is still best experienced, via classic reddit, seen via old.reddit.com, where the thumbnails are most misleading. If you are browsing via new reddit only, their "classic" view is the only way to appreciate this subreddit, and even then it will deliver different results, so your mileage may vary. New reddit will also ruin any crossposts for you. Other new reddit users and mobile users... browse at your own risk and avoid voting, commenting, or submitting any posts since you lack all context required for this subreddit.
Rules
Utilize the report button! Reporting rule-breaking posts helps us mods catch them more quickly.
If the full-size image can be posted to /r/confusing_perspective, /r/Pareidolia, etc. please reconsider posting here; your post may be removed.
Do not post images that are screenshots or that have superimposed text.
NSFW posts should not be marked as NSFW with Reddit's NSFW button; doing so hides the thumbnail. Such posts should be flaired as such instead. Flaired NSFW/NSFL posts can reveal the thumbnail on hover.
Titles should describe what the subject of the thumbnail appears to be, and should not describe the full-size image in any way.
Example: If the subject of the thumbnail looks like a fish, title your post "Fish" not "I coulda sworn this was a fish."
Again, if your full-size image also looks like a fish, you are also breaking Rule 1 and it will be removed.
No reposts from within 90 days or with over 7000 points.
