Does Miami airport usually flood during cat2-3?

Hi. I live in West Palm but drove down to Miami to fly out to see some family out west. My car is parked on the first floor of the Miami airport and will be there during Milton.

My question is: is it likely my car will flood during Milton? I know Miami is prone to flooding but I don’t know if the airport usually floods a significant amount.

    Hurricane Katrina and Wilma

I've noticed that the average person talks about Katrina and Wilma as if they were 1-2 weeks apart when in reality they were 6 weeks apart. The names alone give this away... K -> W. Why do you think this is?

Free things to do for daytime dates?

Locals who never get a day off finally off on a Saturday but it’s not sunny enough for the beach. We just paid rent so no money for crazy things, we would’ve loved to visit the frost again for example.. any suggestions on cute things for us to do that would require little to no money? We have wheels this weekend so location not really an issue! TIA

Mods, we need 3 community bookmarks. Also you need to get rid of the COVID-19 news bookmark. No one cares about COVID anymore.

    Proposed bookmarks

    1. I need friends, please help
    2. I hate Miami so I'm leaving
    3. I hate Publix, [insert other grocery store, likely Aldi cause that's the one everyone says] is better

Edit: Community highlights not bookmarks. Though COVID-19 News should still be removed. Seriously, no one cares about COVID these days.

    Unheated pool for spring break?

Heading to Miami March 9-13. Is a heated pool mandatory? Would it be too cold to swim without?

How can I break into the marketing field in Miami with no company experience?

Hi everyone, I’d like to ask for some advice. I graduated with a marketing degree in Venezuela, but I don’t have any experience working in companies. However, I do have knowledge about social media. I’m currently living in Miami and would love to know how I can start getting into the marketing world here, considering I don’t have professional experience yet. What would you recommend I do to gain experience or land an opportunity in this field? Thanks in advance!

Options for renting a car in Miami

    Hi everyone!

I’ll be in Miami from November 13th to 16th to attend the Latin Grammys. I've been to Miami before, but I haven’t rented a car there yet.

What rental options would you recommend? I’m not sure if I should go with a regular company like Hertz or try something like Turo. Also, do you know how much they usually ask for as a security deposit when choosing full coverage insurance?

I also wanted to know if I need an international driving permit, or if I can rent with my Mexican driver's license.

    Thanks!

Is it just me, or is the Miami Airport cell phone lot kinda terrible?

Okay, so I’ve been to a few cell phone lots at different airports, and Miami International is honestly the worst. There aren’t even portable restrooms, and the lot is tiny compared to the number of people the airport serves. It’s basically just two rows of cars, and turning around at the end of the “lot” is ridiculously narrow.

Sure, it’s only a couple minutes from the arrivals level, which is convenient, but if the lot were better, maybe people wouldn’t be stopping all over the access roads to wait for their pickups. Some airports, like Austin, have full-on gas stations, bathrooms, and even fast food options at their cell phone lots, which makes way more sense.

Does anyone have a better spot to wait that’s like 5-10 minutes from the airport?

Lyft drivers not as the same description or car?!

Recently move from Seattle and have never had this happen until I moved here. I get people using others identities to make money, but to not even show up in the correct vehicle?! Like, what? I feel like as a female I shouldn’t even get into the vehicle. I would feel bad reporting the person, but this could be a dangerous position to be put in. Has anyone else experienced this/what do you do in this situation?

How Is The Climbing Scene In Miami?

Hey everyone, I'm currently planning a move from Pittsburgh to downtown Miami. One of my favorite hobbies is rock climbing. I know that outdoor rock climbing is basically non-existent in South Florida, but can anyone tell me how the gyms are in the area? How is Central Rock Gym and how is Velocity? It would really give me some peace of mind to know what to expect. Thank you!

Seriously, how do I make friends here?

It's been a year since I came here and outside of my dnd group I only see twice a month and my bf I live with I got no one to talk to. Heres what makes it harder

    1. No car
    2. Job is in miami beach and im in kendal so it takes 2-2.5 hours to go and get home (so im out 13 hours a day)
    3. I dont drink
    4. 23 year old socially stunted nerd (not a games and movies nerd which at least would gimme something, a history and book nerd doesnt mean Im close minded to ppl who arent like me tho pls 😭)

Am i fucked i just want to talk to people because im shy but extroverted and everyone at my jobs like 30 something with families so they dont have time to hang. And everything in miami beach is so expensive.
