RULES
I. Maintain civility, decency, and discourse quality. See rules I through III on the /r/neoliberal sidebar for details.
II. When referencing a post or comment, please provide a link or explain why you cannot (for example, a removed comment written by someone else - if you wrote it yourself and it was removed, you should still be able to link to it).
III. All posts should include either a question or a call for action from the mods (for example, "Why was this comment removed?" or "Add a userpinger group about...").
EXPECTATIONS
If your post can be easily responded to by any mod, you can expect a response within 36 hours. After that point, feel free to re-tag moderators and/or PM a moderator to make them aware of the lack of response. Understand that when this happens, it is likely the result of logistical issues rather than any malevolence on our part.
If your post likely needs mod deliberation for an answer, needs a specific mod to respond, or needs a mod with technical expertise to respond, then you can expect a response within 48 hours. After that point, feel free to re-tag moderators and/or PM a moderator to make them aware of the lack of response. Again, please assume good intentions on our part in this situation.
While we do not require your complaints to be polite, understand that phrasing your criticism and complaints in a constructive manner is more likely to get you a quick and helpful response.
Finally, our intention is not for posts in this sub to be ignored. Feel free to post links to threads here directly in the /r/neoliberal discussion thread.

Hi mods, I'd like to request the LOGH ping for Legend of the Galactic Heroes content.
Please do not hit me with "This isn't about trans issues, it's about activists poisoning dialogue/misrepresenting research/etc." It's about a few things. Trans issues is near the top of what this is about. I can certainly say that this article is not nearly as pro-trans as the one I submitted was.
Not to mention that I think Liberal Currents is more reputable than the Substack of a comedy writer. Come on, dude.
I don't doubt you guys believe that you're just trying to make the space safer. I really don't. But you seriously, seriously have to think harder about how this looks and what message this is sending.
I posted a link to a Liberal Currents essay about Democrats discussing giving up on trans rights.
I posted a question here which none of the mods of NL replied to. So I messaged the mods:
Can I get an explanation as to why my post was removed?
they replied with:
there have been a lot of opinion articles on trans stuff and the dems attitudes towards it
the comment section rarely goes well
and also:
we've already had several posts on the same topic
I did not see anything about trans issues on the front page at the time. Probably because they, like my post, were removed.
I expressed my frustration. They asked me not to assume the worst, and also said
The entire mod team is on the verge of burning out simply from trying to manage the past 3 weeks my dude
I wonder how burned out a trans person might be after writing an essay arguing that perhaps the democratic party should not throw her to the wolves. I wonder if that burnout improves when a "big tent" forum is simply too tired to deal with discussion of such an important topic. It is hard to conclude anything other than the mods just don't think it's very important.
In fairness, cdstephens replied to my metaNL post after I finished the back and forth in the modmail, agreed that removal of that post is a bad look.
Arindrajit Dube is an economist noted for his research on the minimum wage and specifically how reasonable minimum increases can increase wages with little increases in unemployment. I think there should be a flair of him to combat any lolberts who try to invoke Econ 101 arguments against the minimum wage.
I was banned for this comment: “His move to remove the house speaker was skillful, and it shows he understands getting things done with the law. I haven’t seen anyone else being proposed who’s done something as impressive as that.”
Nothing hateful, nothing offensive, nothing incorrect, completely on topic. Simply a comment that people disagreed with. To Remove my comment and censor me is unfair, but to ban me? That’s inappropriate. Please correct this issue and allow me to post.
George Meany was the first president of the AFL-CIO which is a large federation of Labor Unions in America.
Some of the notable things he has done:
He was an advocate for the implementation of unemployment insurance in America.
Was a strong supporter of the civil rights act.
Pushed for Combining the AFL organization and the CIO into the one AFL-CIO.
Labor unions are great because they can reduce inequality, raise wages of workers(not just ones in a union), and give workers more rights. I think the subreddit should have a flair for one the prominent labor union leaders.
It pains me to say, as a many-years-long Polis flair until today, but this is unacceptable: https://x.com/jaredpolis/status/1857173250586911189

For those who don't know him, Mancur Olson focused on institutional economics, and wrote a lot about how beyond policy, institutions are the central driver of a nation's success. In How bright are the Northern Lights?, he makes a model of national success based on the extent to which special interest groups become entrenched in the nation's politics.
He also makes the claim that the success of the Nordic economies can be attributed to their strong civic institutions, such as their strong labour union membership.
I'd recommend this book because
a) It was a central reason I went down the path to moderate, institutionally-minded politics when I was young.
b) At <100 pages, it's short and engaging.
c) While not all neolibs will agree with all his claims, I think it's a great example of institutionally-minded thinking.
Also I think a Mancur Olson flair would be cool.
Thanks!
This is especially prevalent among “Trump did something” headline discussions that have no substance whatsoever other than “Trump bad.”

I finally made the post and I am gonna post it. So please approve. I’ll wait to post it if you need me to. But it is ready to go
It’s recent and relevant US news, the article is from a decent source in NYT, the post title is a copy-and-paste of the headline so it’s free of spin… what’s not to love?
Penned by incoming National Security Adviser Michael Waltz in 2023.
I don't know how to broach this topic. I try to be as delicate as possible because I know trans people are understandably very scared that any discussion from those that are "just asking questions" signals a reversal of all the rights and respect they've fought so hard for over the past couple decades. I've seen first-hand how ugly and cruel right-wing ghouls can get on this subject and it sickens me. Furthermore, I'm fully aware that there's a sect of TERF-y "liberals" that are disingenuously using moderate and electioneering language to strong-arm Dems into dropping trans rights altogether. That is NOT what I believe in.
What I do believe is that supporting trans rights is an essential moral principle. I even believe it's an electoral boon for Democrats because as it demonstrates to voters just how committed they are to civil rights and personal liberties. I think when any vulnerable group sees Democrats vocally pledge to defend trans rights it reassures them that Democrats will also be there to protect them. I believe that the number of kind-hearted people vastly outnumbers the bad faith individuals and when they're swayed by right-wing propaganda it is only because they've fallen for child-endangerment fearmongering NOT because they hate towards trans people.
My sincere belief is that, for the majority of the electorate, it really is all about things like sports safety and that liberals addressing this concern--misplaced though it may be--will temper the panic. Right now we're letting the right-wing control the entire conversation. I think there are several tools that can work to counteract the fearmongering. First of all, not all sports involve contact. I went to a high school where golf and tennis were major programs. But secondly, let's talk about contact sports. Here's what I notice about Seth Moulton's comments or rather, the man himself. He's a former marine with two daughters and no sons. I think this gives him an overly paternalistic perspective. I (cis-male) grew up with a younger sister. We fought a lot. I also played in coed soccer leagues growing up. I've even played in adult rec games that were coed. I was also a small freshman that scrimmaged against seniors who probably had at least 8 inches and 60 pounds on me. Absolutely no one panicked about any of this. It was all normal. I was also a referee There's already adult supervision and safety rules to protect athletes.
There needs to be a messaging campaign to remind people of these things, e.g. "Sports need to be safe and inclusive." We can't just shut down and avoid the conversation. The right-wing are going to keep coming back to the well, good economy or bad, to drum up fear using the worst framing possible. Instead, bring all this stuff up! Show trans women competing with women. Show women's sports leagues that enthusiastically embrace trans participants. Bring up how many injuries actually happen. Make it normal. Not to make too many assumptions, but I get the sense that a lot of the conversation is being driven by Rogan--who's entire frame of reference is MMA--and nerds who have no sports experience at all (probably TERFs).
If there's something I'm not seeing here, please let me know. I realize the mods are dealing with a lot of stealth-transphobia in the main sub right now so I'm posting here first as a safety check.
For posting about our hatemaxxing evilpilled darklib 2028 presidential candidate?
Hey r/neoliberal
I’m not sure if promoting other subs is allowed, but I’d like to share r/TolerantEurope. Are posts promoting other subreddits allowed on r/neoliberal.
Hello, I was subbed here since almost the beginning but had to delete my account due to a decade of reddit accumulating too much personally identifying comments... is there any way I can be allowed to comment? What's the account age cutoff? If there's no exemption list and it's not functionally possible with how the account-age filter works, then that's fine oh well, but just thought I'd ask.
Friedrich List was a German Economist who advocated for infant industry protection and critiqued Adam Smith idea of free trade as being harmful or not useful for a country wanting to develop.
I guess the sub is automatically removing text based discussion posts?
I did a little write up aggregating the reasons why BDP had to go, with only very limited references to the U.S. election.
Is there any way to get this approved?
I received a 14-day ban for "advocating throwing trans people under the bus - final warning, next offense will be permanent"
The message linked was this one (also reproduced in the comments below): https://i.imgur.com/QkqA8tj.png
I do not understand what about that post is ban-worthy. I'm not being sarcastic or combative. I know there is an appeal thread, but I would like clarification on the subreddit policy itself. I advocated a change in rhetoric, not of political policy. At no point did I argue for a change in policy. I actually disagreed with posters in other posts suggesting we change policy (trans athletes in sports, etc.).
EDIT: Also, why was "final warning" said? Did the mod team get me mixed up with someone? I have posts in the subreddit going back years and this is my first ever ban; I have also never received so much as a warning. An example of one of my past posts in the sub, unedited, showing the opposite of animus for trans people: https://old.reddit.com/r/neoliberal/comments/126mn0t/nashville_shooting_exploited_by_right_to_escalate/jea7byy/
Why can people suggesting completely giving up minority trans issues getting tens of upvotes when I was banned for suggesting putting some much less affected issues on the shelf?
I'm not suggesting my post didn't violate community rules, but could there be a constant and clear standard?
It's a fun meme in a stressful time and I worked really hard on it

Biden is a huge part of why Kamala lost because he waited so long to step down. He should not be honored in this subreddit and so things like Malarkey level should be removed.
