Seer vs eer

I read in a book that seer is used for smaller size units as compared to eer. Any reason for the same?

Envelope Commissioning

My firm uses Cx Alloy for mechanical and electrical system/equipment commissioning, but are increasingly asked about envelope commissioning. Alloy isn't set up natively to do this though I'm sure it can be done. Anyone have experience with envelope commissioning software?

Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) Job Duties - Video

Hi all,

I posted my first video since the ANSYS/airflow analysis one. The video is on the typical job duties and responsibilities of Mechanical Engineers in the HVAC field. Hopefully this video is useful for young engineers wanting to know about the HVAC side of things. My next videos will be on AutoCAD and Revit based on feedback I have gotten. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel so you can easily find my videos! Any comments and feedback are welcome.

boiler/chiller system: water-source heat pump vs. FCU

Is it wrong to assume that designing a boiler and chiller system for fan coil units is more efficient than designed for water-source heat pumps? I'm looking at a job with a ton of water-cooled heat pumps, being fed from the chiller/boiler. What are the benefits of a water-source heat pump design with chillers/boilers?

Do any of you work with BIM 360?

Looking for some people's opinion on it and how it has affected how you work.

M12x1.75 thread for pipe with 1.5 mm "wallthicknes"

can i thread a 12 mm pipe with an ID of 9mm and a "wall thickness" of 1.5mm with m12X1.75 or will the threads cut too deep and ruin the structural integrity?

Its a pistol barrel btw so some resistance is needed from the pressure but since its at the end of the muzzle its not very high pressure.

Hydronic System Pressure

HVAC scrub here. I know system pressure in a closed loop is important to ensure flow at the upper elevations. You have to calculate the head and ensure the system exceeds it? It was explained once to me, but I tried repeating it to a colleague today and drew a blank.

Can anyone ELI5?

Machine Design question

Hi there! I have a (possibly) silly question. What, if any, is the difference between a Machine Designer and a Mechanical Designer? I'm really struggling to find info on the interwebz. Thanks so much!

What happens when something goes down your toilet or drain? And how does that relate to drinking water? Am I right?

When you flush something down the toilet, it goes into the sewer, gets filtered, goes into the reservoir, the reservoir water gets filtered, then goes into the drinking water. Am I right?

23 Y/O Electrical and Electronics Engineer seeking advise.

I am 23 y/o Sales Engineer in Dubai and my products are UPS Systems , DC Chargers and Batteries . We target the MEP Contractors extensively and meanwhile try to get our product approved by the MEP Consultants. I am basically contemplating on switching career and join an MEP contracting/consulting firm , but my problem is my weak technical aptitude. I have a 55% CGPA in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from a very reputed college from India (Rank 10 iirc) . Basically didn't study properly (College stuff !) Anyway what do you think my chances are in making it as a successful Site Trainee/Site Engineer/Project Engineer in the MEP Field ? Am I cut out for this ? How much technical knowledge is actually needed ? or is it all just an illusion of highly technical work ? (Maybe its just some basics of EE which is rinsed and repeated in all projects) . How can I mold myself into becoming a worthy candidate ? Any other info is really appreciated . Hoping to receive a very realistic expectation from you . Thanks .
