Hello all! đź‘‹
I'm doing some research about cannabis testing labs(safety/compliance) and would love to hear about your experiences as cultivators. I hope I am not violating any community rules with this post.
Just trying to understand the pain points and what could be improved in the process.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences and I hope everyone has a happy thanksgiving.
Curious what laboratory automation software the cannabis testing industry is using and their experiences with them.
Is there a part of the plant that can be extracted just to cause hunger without the high? I believe its the THC that causes hunger but I just wanted to make sure there wasnt something I may be missing. Heres my situation my neice has my issue with eating I can only assume is gentic. I smoke weed to make me hungry otherwise I just wont eat because I just wont feel hungry and honestly dont want to eat. I dont have the urge to eat unless Ive smoked. Now obviously I can not give my 5 year old neice weed to get her to eat but like I was when I her age she is very small for her age. So is there something that can be extracted to cause hunger?
We're a couple of new 420-friendly people here. Tried the whole rolling paper and/or pre-rolled thing, didn't like struggles of both. Now thinking about shifting to either general purpose bong (6-8 inches) or specific weed/cannabis smoking pipes, or maybe even repurposing those wooden-looking, black tobacco-smoking pipes for weed.
The concern is A. whether the glass/ceramic pipes will be able to withstand the heat and not crack over our faces and eyes B. If they'll become too hot for the lips and hands, , and if lips/hands would get burnt. We're all in speaking businesses, and lips singed and hands burnt wouldn't bode well for business!
I'm trying to figure out how to make a 4oz tincture using live resin. I have no idea how to add it. What measurements should I use for that amount?? Please Help!?!? I do not want to buy any from someone I have everything I need to make my own just need instructions.
Other mods, feel free to undo this if you feel differently I guess. I'm not fighting anyone we're on the same side.

edit: oh wait I can't, but there likely won't be anything here in the meantime.
I hope this is the right place to post. I work in a cannabis analytical testing lab, and was wondering if anyone knows how to safely and efficiently homogenize samples that come in a canned spray bottle. With canned sodas, they are generally easier to decarbonate, but I'm trying to figure out how to work with canned spray bottles (like hairspray)
When marijuana is finally leaglized in all 50 states (hopefully) will companies treat it as alcohol and stop drug testing it in your urine? I know it's obvious you wouldnt be able to be stoned while working just as you cant be under the influence of alcohol, but would they be less strict as they are for alcohol? Possibly even just use breathalyzers (when they are made) to detect for thc on the breath.
im a 3rd year physics major graduating in the next year and am interested in seeing what my degree can get me in the lab industry. Are there really any kinds of jobs that a physics degree can get?
Any thoughts on this? Is this the end of Steep Hill?

Hello folks,
We run HPLC analysis of cannabinoids on our crops, but we're in the middle of a phenohunt and for time saving purposes are looking to mitigate the amount of drying time. There will be 100+ strains to sample.
Typically we mill and test dried flower, but we are thinking that we emulate drying conditions in a low temperature vacuum oven (which I have read destroys cannabinoids).
Alternatively I'm wondering if I can just analyse fresh flower. Does anyone know of any literature about the rate of cannabinoid development during the drying time? I figure that all my boss wants is a comparitive analysis of strains. We currently don't test for CBN so I couldn't use that as an indicator of potential. I was hoping there might be a standard % increase between fresh and dry stage that I could use as a modifier.
Any thoughts?
Hi, is it relevant to get certified as a medical lab assistant, or any other basic lab assisting certificate to work in this industry, or to become instrumental in opening a lab? Are there any graduate schools, undergrad programs, or even certificate programs from accredited schools that are able to be recommended that have funding of grants or scholarships to cover the enrollment and program costs, please?
I've been searching for a while and can't find any direct answers to the first question, and as far as funding goes there isnt any that Ive seen aside from the popular veriheal scholarship or unaccredited programs and classes on groupon for example. All leads help! Thank you
Any tips how to land a job in a cannabis laboratory? Looking to get my foot in. Current lab worker. Any advice is appreciated!
Let's look back at some memorable moments and interesting insights from last year.

hi, i am an analyst at a new, still small medical cannabis lab in missouri! im looking for some guidance on how other analytical labs are testing for water activity and more importantly moisture content. we currently use a Shimadzu Electronic Moisture Balance (model: MOC120-H) utilizing the loss on drying technique to measure moisture but there is some question on what the most accurate preparation method is. we currently break up the bud by hand into smaller, uniform nugs. based off the very small amount of literature i could find, it seems like using a grinder on the bud before measurement would be best. help!!
need chemist to complete iso assessment . please let me know if anyone can help out aswell as become a future chemist in my lab. thanks
