I am Michael, I am 26 years old and live in Germany. I can speak English, German, and Polish. I prefer speaking English but don't mind the other two. I like English more because that is the language I grew up speaking. Sadly since I moved back a few years ago I have been struggling with making long-term friends. The timezone switch has disconnected me from my old friends but also all around growing up and having our private lives to deal with has taken a toll on who I spend time with.

A very open-minded person who loves to text, talk, or spend time together, even if it sometimes means sitting in a call in silence while we do our things. I don't mind listening or giving opinions on things. I am an open book when I get to know someone well. At the start, I may be a little shy about myself because I lack self-confidence

I don't have too many hobbies that are super interesting but I am always willing to give new things a try and would love the idea of getting into new stuff if that helps our friendship. I spend a lot of time alone on the computer so I pretty much focus on myself when it gets to my hobbies. I hope to change that as I learn new people and build new friendships and such.

Interests/Hobbies

Like I said earlier my Interests/Hobbies are more focused on things I do alone while I spend most of my time alone listening to music or gaming (not as much anymore sadly)

I spend a lot of time listening to music, I used to make beats but I took a break from that as I have been kind of struggling with liking my stuff. My music taste is very wide I try to give every genre a try before I judge it and come to a conclusion. I listen to most types of music except for country and classical music. I am always excited to share music, so I have no problem exchanging songs!

• Rock, Heavy Metal, Metalcore
• Rap, Underground Rap
• Old school Trance, Trance, Drum and Bass, Phonk, a little hardstyle

These are just some styles I listen to but like I said I am a very open book when it comes to music and sharing/learning about new genres or artists. I use a lot of Spotify so I have a lot of playlists to share or we could even maybe make our own collaborative playlist.

Gaming is one of those things that has been part of my life since I was a baby, but lately, I have been doing it less and less as the friends I used to play with have slowly started playing other games that I struggle to get into. My collection of games is too large to list here, but I am confident we can find something to play. The only games I do not play are MOBAs because I have always had trouble getting into them.

I have been 3 years in the UK and I have no friends. Acquaintances – yes. Friends? – Not really. For context, I am an awkward person. I cringe an average three times a day with what I have said or done. At work, I want to bury my head in the sand (average of ten times per day).

So when I was new to the UK, I wanted to make some friends. I didn’t want to be marginalized into a pool of Indians. I wanted to make some English friends and understand their culture and have fun and live the dream.

I downloaded Bumble friends. I matched with a few people. I was excited at this stage. I dress up. I meet person A. She is charming. I thought, wow, I am not going to move from this area because she is going to be my lifelong friend. We had a good chat. I imagined being invited to her wedding. We scheduled next friend date. We meet up. Long talks. I thought we were already best friends. We hug and part ways. After a few days, we chat and I ask her of next meet up. She is in Paris now, will text me once she is back. Never heard from her again. Maybe she settled in Paris and started a new life, who knows.

Met person B and C together. Originally met them from a bookshop and had a chat and arranged a meet-up. Had few drinks, talked about books, danced a bit. Hugged and parted ways. Texted person B. She was in Amsterdam now and would text when she is back. Never heard from her again. Tried person C. Radio silence. Maybe she moved to another planet inaccessible to the radio waves.

People said in various social platforms – get out of your comfort zone, put yourself out there, get a hobby and meet people of similar interest – so I joined a dance class. Met person D. Long chats, hugs and specifics about next meet up. Texted her and no surprise – she was out somewhere hiking. At this point, I am not making an effort to remember which country. And as you guessed she is not back from her hiking yet to arrange our next meet up. She must have met some wild bear who adopted her as her human cub.
