Documentary - loins battling for "kingdom" with pink looking building in middle of swamp/jungle

looking for a documentary of i believe 2 brother cubs and their mom being followed for years and later that building/place became the big spot for "who will become the king of this kingdom" kinda thing

Male lions are one of the most misunderstood animals today

They've gone from being global icons to some people thinking they are essentially useless sacks of spunk. I'm not exactly sure who to blame for this. I figure it must be the old nature docs that made lazy assumptions & statements that have stuck around to this day.

  • ''Male lions can't survive without females'' - where do I even start with this absolute codswallop. Male lions are kicked out of their OG pride early & have to learn to survive out on their own & form coalitions with other males. They are excellent hunters & will also bully their way onto carcasses even with large groups of hyenas around, making them effective scavengers

  • ''Female lions are dominant over male lions'' - a misunderstanding. You could say prides are 'matriarchal' in that females rear the cubs but in terms of behaviour & physicality males are overwhelmingly dominant (e.g. they always eat first, they get the better of most physical altercations & they are very bossy in general)

  • ''Male lions are poor hunters'' - easy to debunk, multiple studies & videos that demonstrate differently

  • ''Male lions are killed by the females when they don't want him'' - I've never seen or heard of this happening in the wild. Even females driving off unwanted males doesn't happen very often

Curious on Lion populations

I was wondering on wild Lion populations nowadays , i thought they were protected species but apparently from what i see the wild lion populations are still decreasing rapidly.Honestly I feel very sad and defeated are there any hope for lions ?
