Subreddit Rules
This subreddit is not for anything that would be best served on Craigslist, like a roommate request, sublease, car for sale, or other form of classified ad. Please do not create these types of posts here, as they will be removed straightaway. We do have one simple rule: Remember the user and treat them like your grandmother - you can disagree with her, but you're going to do it politely. Anyone found violating said rule will be politely reminded and/or banned at the Mods discretion.

MLP seems to be coming back into vogue (perhaps due to nostalgia) and I can't seem to find any active brony clubs around town. I'd like to start one. We just need to find a place to meet (I guess I could host til it gets bigger) and set a schedule. Anyone interested?
EDIT: I've changed the new sub reddit to r/LansingActivists
When these situations happen, and they will happen, we need to be ready. I've created a new sub reddit for recruiting activism on the ground, as it happens. If this sounds like something you have the time and ability to be on-call for, head over to r/LansingActivists where we will be discussing how to mobilize, de-escalate and appropriately respond when the businesses of our brothers and sisters are under attack.
If anyone has 2 extra tickets they’re selling for the event tonight, please send me a DM
Hi all, I’ve been siting on this post for a few months now; this past week made it clear it’s time to post it. Up front, I’m not interested in starting political discourse, just solid recommendations.
I’m looking for two things: 1) concealed carry training courses and 2) local gun shops (bonus for practice shooting ranges).
However, I’m looking for very specific requirements for both:
I know this is a pretty big ask, and it doesn’t have to be in the immediate Lansing area. I’m willing to travel within the lower peninsula if necessary.
I know it varies by day, but I’m looking to hear other’s experience. This is about check in wait times. I checked in online at the frandor urgent care once and still had to wait 2 hours. Also looking for recommendations on the best time of day to book an appointment, ect.
Several years later… these scooters still worth it? These were parked on the handicap ramp at the Starbucks this morning. (Sorry for the glare!)
My old college roommate had given me a call stating that 2 bodies were found in a freezer at an apartment complex off of Lake Lansing Rd.
I first I thought he was full of it, until I saw the article on WILX. 😳
Praying for those victims to be identified.
Does anyone here do Santa events? I work for a Lansing nonprofit that is trying to find a Santa for an early December one day event. We are also specifically looking to promote a more inclusive Santa experience for those we serve, so please feel free to contact me regardless of the type of Santa you are.
I've seen that Ann Arbor has a sub listing all the local businesses that support Trump. Is there a Lansing Sub that does the same? I'd like to know whom I am patronizing and if I need to avoid them. I know some businesses are obvious.
I remember a couple years back Lansing Brewing Company was going to host a trump rally. They got heavily blackballed by the community for it and cancelled it. I know it was then over to Royal Scot Golf and Bowl. Whether they went thru with it or not, is beyond my knowledge.
If there's already a sub for it, I apologize for this post, but can it be shared here ? Thanks
The new segment runs from the corner of Aurelius and Mt. Hope and runs through Fenner to Evergreen cemetery.
Ellison’s website has been hacked. It’s now a malware site. Im at “stomp” for the wife’s birthday. Unfortunately I was food poisoned by them so I’m just puking my brains out at the Wharton center. Apparently their website isn’t the only thing with viruses.
I have my 30th birthday coming up. It will be winter time. I’m looking for somewhere to host something for it. I’m really interested in something classy and elegant. Possibly dinner or a fun activity, good photo ops. Willing to drive 20-30 min outside of Lansing. Anywhere you can think of like this?
I need to know if it possible to export live Michigan Lottery Club Keno drawing numbers into an Excel Spreadsheet as they occur. I'd like to do some research. I've tried to copy and paste the results from MSL's Resources from their webpage. What happens is when I paste to my Excel sheet the paste function also includes additional numbering data and adds columns to the spreadsheet. Club Keno draws numbers about every 3 1/2 minutes so doesn't give me any time to try and fix the situation.
Sending love to their friends and families. I hope this isn’t the start of something bigger ☹️
Happy Friday, everyone!
For the past 1-2 years (since graduating), I've been applying to positions with the State of Michigan (roughly 2-4 positions per week). Unfortunately, despite personalizing each resume, cover letter, etc. to meet the requirements, nearly 90% of them are left in the "Application Received" phase. I'm never given any follow up and those applications remain in that phase after months and year(s).
Is this normal? Am I just simply being screened out? Anyone have any advice?
I've gone as far as to connecting with the Hiring Manager on LinkedIn and reaching out after a few weeks but I've been ghosted four times now.
Is there anything else that I can or should do? This sounds super lame but I've always wanted a job in the public sector (especially after some brutal years in private) and this has been a super defeating process.
I'm just looking for something that doesn't require some crazy skill while also would be good for a teen
It can be a side job or something similar, just anything that pays because I'm trying to save for my future.
Hey there everyone, we know this is a bit of a shot in the dark but we figured we'd try anyway. We had our quad we use for pushing in dead cars stolen late Monday night-early Tuesday morning. We've already filed a police report, we're just asking for people in the North Lansing area to keep a lookout for someone driving it around, or if you see it parked somewhere. It's got a tire on the front of it. We got a bad picture from the camera footage of who rode off with it that night, and not much else. Thanks.
I'm very curious because I have thought about doing it but I'm unsure if I'd need like a permit or something.
Tax time I will be looking to get my concealed carry permit and looking at getting a handgun for personal protection. I do intent to take some sort of education classes about using/carrying a hanging. I am looking for both suggestions on any kinds of classes like that in the area, and also gun shops that sell affordable and decent products. I don't have much if any knowledge on guns so any other advice would also be appreciated.
UPDATE:!!! found:) hey guys! so as the title says i witnessed a POSSIBLE hit and run right before pennsylvania ave going east on jolly. i was behind the both of them, it was a smaller black car with a lady driving, and a beige SUV drove into her lane n sideswiped her. they stopped and argued and when the lady pulled over the suv kept going. i managed to snag a picture of the SUVs license plate. just looking to reach out and hopefully help someone:)
Speedway on the corner of Lake Lansing and Wood. If only it rang up for this price.
in light of the election news, i (20, trans man) feel like it would behoove me to get to know some other gay people near me and try and foster some community
Looking to meet other couples or places to meet middle aged couples around us in Lansing.
