I normally cycle everywhere and only really use a shared vehicle when I really need to. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I've overlaying events and the first one is at the Downtown CADL at 5:30pm. I was curious how parking works in that area. Is there any free parking for the building like other library's have with lots? Does free parking start happening at any specific time? Hadn't really budgeted for parking.
With bike racks being everywhere, parking's never been something I really think about.
Any events happening on New Years in Lansing?
Hi, all! I'm a life-long resident of Lansing, and was laid off from my job after 20+ years. After years of dreaming of it, I'm taking a leap of faith on myself, and organizing the opening of my own P.C. Repair / Home and Small Business IT Consulting company. I'm currently waiting on finalization of my LLC, DBA's, EIN, and for a suite to open where my storefront will be located in February. In the meantime, I'm trying to build a little client base, and hopefully earn some word-of-mouth referrals. I'm offering bargain-basement pricing on P.C. repairs (both hardware and software issues), virus removal, cleaning (physical cleaning of the machine, inside and out, as well as any clutter which may be slowing it down). If you have an older P.C. that's struggling to run software effectively, I can breathe some fresh air into it with a lightweight Operating System suitable for your needs. If you've got an older P.C. that you no longer use or is broken, I will retrieve it, refurbish it, and donate it to a person in need on my dime (a service to the community that will be the primary mission of my first business). Please consider keeping your business local, and helping to support a few local families. If interested, please message me directly. I'm eager to form relationships with the entire community. Thank You!
Where in the area can I take my gifts and get them wrapped for me.
Heavy police presence on m99 near Vermontville. Yesterday seen they had a drone out. today cars were on both sides with lights on. Unfortunately I was kicked from the scanner group for laughing on a post. Anyone know what's up?
If for some reason you can't goto this show, I'd love the opportunity to. Pros/Cons of small intimate venues I guess. Thanks!
Updated: snowman found, crazy wind to blame. It ended up another street over!!!
If you stole the giant inflatable snowman in front of my house in the Frances Park tonight neighborhood, you’re a horrible person. Who steals a Christmas decoration? My 4 year old and 6 year old are disappointed in the world and it’s a little darker for them because of you.
For Sparrow to announce it to caregivers, it must have been something inappropriate?
Thank you for the post, it got me talking with my older brother. Here's his Civic Center tribute. We had close seats for Alice, Joel said you're gonna need a Bloodbid. Hence my user name. I remember seeing the Romantics while a car show was happening. That time when Rik Emmett from Triumph got food poisoning and they played the Scorpions, World Wide Live, twice, excruciating. I went to most of these shows. Our moms rule for my older brothers was "You gotta take your little brother.
The title says it all - trying to make the best of a warmer, but gray, day.
I am trying to get a headshot taken for a presentation. Im a student so I wanted to see if there was anyone that can recommend some options?
There's a sleeping bag in the river in front of the bridge and they've found an empty canoe.
I know this might be a bust, but giving it a shot!
My older brother has been intrigued by rare fish and reptiles lately and I’d like to take him someplace cool to see some rare animals in Michigan. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Open to driving 2-3 hrs out of Lansing. Thank you!
The Foster Mystery Book Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6 PM in the Foster Labs to discuss mysteries and mystery adjacent titles. Our next meeting is on 1/14 at 6 PM. You do not need to be a CADL cardholder to join the discussion. January's title is The Murder of Mr. Ma by John Shen Yen Nee and S.J. Rozan.
London, 1924. Judge Dee Ren Jie arrives to investigate the murder of a man he served with in the Chinese Labour Corps in World War I. His wake drags a quiet academic, Lao She, into his investigation. Even as Judge Dee interviews the widow of the first victim, another bodies begin to surface, all killed with the same kind of weapon, a butterfly sword. As Judge Dee and Lao attempt to solve this rash of murders, they realize they might be next in the killer's sights.
Aiming for a mix of Sherlock Holmes and gong'an fiction (a subgenre of Chinese crime fiction that focuses on the exploits of investigatory magistrates), this story offers a new twist on a familiar setting and style of mystery.
This title is available as a book, a large print book, an ebook (via Libby) and an eaudiobook (via Libby). If you would like any help getting a library card, setting up Libby, or just have questions about the group, feel free to comment or DM me.
Hi all, hoping to get recommendations for a wedding suit. I initially reached out to Kositchek's only to find that they've been temporarily closed for the past few months. Are there similar places around? I'm hoping to avoid chains (like Men's Wearhouse) and rentals. Since I wasn't able to go into to Kositchek's, I'm not sure exactly how much that would have cost, but I'm intending on paying more for something I love and can continue to wear for special occasions.
I don't mind driving 60-90 minutes, if there's a great place on the west/east sides of the state, but Lansing-specific places will certainly get my attention first. Thanks for any help!
This is a weekly post for any events or goings on around the Capital area community this week.
I am currently on the hunt for “an experience” gift for my nephew who is a current 7th grader. I can’t seem to find any sort of STEM related classes or programs that aren’t affiliated with MSU’s gifted and talented program or school district affiliated programs.
If anyone has any recommendations please comment below. I’m desperate
Im looking for a nice/cool speak easy for a date night. Does anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated!
As an ingredient, not a dish at a restaurant.
Thought it would be worth shot but has anyone found a black wallet today (12/14-12/15). It has my ID my social security card. Bank cards. Literally my life. If you did find it I can verify it’s mine with my id/name. Willing to give a reward if found. Thanks.
I'm a military-veteran considering getting a job with the state of michigan. I have two questions. First, do SOM jobs still have pensions? Second, do they have leave-programs or accomodations for education reasons? I might try to get my bachelors while working for SOM, maybe take 2-3 classes as a part-time student. Do they give some time off for that reason? like maybe I can leave early on certain days when I have class or exams, or something like that. Thanks Michiganders.
I was heading home from work at about 10pm and there was literally 20 cop cars surrounding the Walter French building. Anyone know what was going on?
Was hired to do some work there and the maintenance staff was nice enough to show me the view. 10 story building
